I;m a landlord and all of my houses were built in 1860. A huge amount of houses and buildings in general here are a lot older than you think. Most towns go back many hundreds of years and the centres of them are usually unchanged in all that time. Not far from me is Caerphilly castle and that was made in the 1300s and is is massive.
Some 20 years ago my buddy and I took a trip from Helsinki around Åland and back to Helsinki with a 4,5 m outboard motor boat. We thought that we were so bad asses and a bit heroes. But this journey of yours is something else, really. Raising my hat and thanking for these especially enjoyable videos. Good going guys!!!
Great video and good to see the safety is improving! As others have said, tie the auxiliary outboard to the rib to avoid losing it over the side. It might be worth using RYASafe Trx to let the Coastguard know your journey, departure and arrival plans. Especially as you get into quieter waters, you should make sure someone knows your plans. Portland Bill can be very intimidating, you could have been much closer inshore at the point you went round (certainly in rougher weather), it stops you being pulled into the race! Looking forward to the next instalment - have a look at the River Yealm when you head towards Plymouth.
Hope you get the rest of the "1700 miles in a tiny speedboat" episodes posted soon before i go mad with anticipation! I think everyone is watching to see their particular piece of coastline shown, I know i am!! Thanks, Dave
Hurray! I can’t wait to watch this with my son. He’s 2 and we watched your other two episodes. He always says “boat show, boat show!” Thanks for sharing your adventure.
This is the most enjoyable series on UA-cam at the moment... a story about a half-baked adventure, an uncompromisingly rugged and beautiful coastline, friendship, and messing around in boats.
This channel is by far the best I've seen in a long while... casual, yet high quality documentation of actual activities and life happening. No scripted bullshit, no "content" for contents sake. Please keep documenting your life on youtube and not living it for youtube.
WASP Gaming: Complete with mistakes and errors (said from a viewpoint of an instructor). You’re right it does make compulsive viewing, even if I’m shouting “nooooooooooo what are you doing” at the screen far too many times. Keep it up chaps if you’re reading this.
Loving the history lessons and cinematic shots - this adventure feels like it should be on BBC 2 every week! Can't believe this channel doesn't have more views (yet). I find these episodes soooo relaxing! Can't wait until you reach Scotland :D
lovely video mate, just a tip, you might want to attach your auxiliary outboard motor to a bit of rope, attached to the boat, becuase outboards cannot swim!
Slightly agrarian start but sooo glad you're back. Believe me. Portland Bill is not Cape Horn by any stretch of the imagination, it's less of a shambles. '-) I loved Salcombe and love your style. Used to possess a collection of paper nautilus and fossil Nautilidae...all lost in the flood. Stunning adventure, good luck.
Another great episode Harry. Love this series. Word to the wise, I'd personally attach a safety lanyard to the spare outboard so you can secure it to the boat before you lean over the transom to mount it. One rouge wave on the roll when you're over-reaching and the engine will plummet to the bottom. I have seen it done. Not what you want when you're already in a pickle. Best of luck with the journey!
Thank you for making this wonderful mini-documentary. I will say the series reaches me on a deep level and excites my adventuring instinct. I really enjoy the series thank you.
Love what your doing! When you make it up at Scotland, feel free to give me a call for help or any assistance you may need? Would love to join on one of your legs. I run a small marine engineering workshop on the west coast (Largs marina) All the best and stay safe Scott
Thank you chaps - brightened up my day on a stormy afternoon. There should be media awards for this type of UA-cam content. Informative and entertaining.
I am really enjoying this series. Such an exciting thing to do and along the stunning British coastline and awesome filmmaking and great music, each episode is compulsive viewing! Thanks!
Forgot I'd signed up to this! That was a pleasant surprise on a sunny Feb afternoon. Genuinely entertaining and more revealing than i'd expect. Keen for the subsequent episodes now. Will be lovely if they come in a tad thicker and faster even if the best does happen for those who wait. No pressure then, lol!
I can't believe how invested in this adventure I've become. You are seriously knocking it out of the park with the production value. Those drone shots are breathtaking. You guys are very good at this.
Another brilliant video...used to have a very similar boat years ago, but as someone's mentioned above.. definitely tie your auxiliary engine on.. youre bound to need it on choppy seas and the chances of dropping it are great.
I recommend you add a tether to the backup motor incase you drop it while trying to put it on. A friend had one of those smaller engines completely fall off, and in rough weather putting it on would be tough.
Make sure you take a minute to pop up the Dart to The Ferryboat Inn at Dittisham for a bite to eat (moor up outside - very UA-cam drone-able) or if the tide is right, head up to Keith Floyd's old pub the Maltsters at Tuckenhay. @aquaholic should do a boat tour too whilst you're in his neck of the woods!
Just an idea, change the bolt used for your track around the coast to a nut! Because you are nuts, but great fun and highly enjoyable series. Soon you will be entering my stomping ground. Are you going out to the Isles of Scilly? Cheers.
Amazing! Lots of research done this time and it shows, not that the others were lacking. The life of an influencer gets more appealing by the episode, definitely got the feeling of commitment from this episode and looking forward to the next. Good luck and Godspeed Goodwin
Brilliant. Been looking forward to this. Didn't realise you weren't doing it in one long trip. Doing a sea journey in December... well, you're a nutter but I wish I could do the same.
12:35 I can see my house just up the hill from the army bridging camp at The Narrows on The Fleet. Really enjoyed seeing my local coastline from the sea in this video - as a dinghy sailer I've never gone from Weymouth Bay round to Lyme Bay. If you can I'd leave the spare engine rigged on the bracket, tilted up - last thing you want to be doing is hanging over the back trying to mount an engine in a choppy sea - if you have to stow it then at least have it on a short line when fitting it so you can't drop it.
Absolutely fantastic. Really can't wait to see more of this brilliant series and a huge thank you for the time and effort that goes into making these records of your adventure.
Brilliant camerawork and editing that beats terrestrial tv in an instant. Keep it up. Glad to see the safety and planning is coming along nicely. One to make me chuckle at 20:58, I think you might have a breather problem on tank number 1. It looked to have been sucked inside out from the quick glimpse I saw of it. Don’t worry we’ve all done it. But you’ll always remember to check in future 😎😎
10/10 and a gold star. Superb camera work and full of interest. It would have been easy to find an excuse to leave out Portland Bill during the winter months but patience had its reward. The balance between "adventure" and planning makes it very watchable. Also, very listenable-to narrative. The great attitude displayed by all involved on the boat makes you really hope that it all goes well. This is unlike many UA-cam videos where the only pleasing outcome for the viewer would be a bit of a disaster. Looking forward to the next stage.
Keep these awesome boating adventure videos coming!!! If that was me at 25:35 that outboard would likely have gone in the drink... LOL You could attach a rope or cable from the tower to the outboard before lifting it over the transom just in case you lose your grip. Would also save the outboard in the event the mounting clamps loosen while in use. That water seems a bit cold to go diving in to recover the outboard.
What a great video, I'm have just come across it. Having been part of the team that set the record for the fastest descent of the longest river in Ireland (River Shannon) in a 5 meter RIB, a few of us thought we would attempt to circumnavigate the entire island of Ireland, this time in a 9 meter RIB with 300 horsepower turbocharged engines and surface-piercing props. We departed Kinsale and were going westabout, getting our fastest speed, west of the Aran islands (52 knots) but got into serious seas off the northwest coast of County Mayo and finally lost the rudder bars connecting our two big rudders. We eventually limped back into Blacksod Bay in County Mayo unable to finish the challenge. On a completely separate note, it was the lighthouse in Blacksod Bay that was able to send the weather report that allowed the D Day landings to proceed.
Well worth the wait! Good to see you come round my local coastline. Devon into Cornwall now.. . Beautiful! Looking forward to your next adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Do not stop these series. If your uploads are consistent I could see your channel exploding in popularity. Liking and commenting to feed the algorithm.

This could and should be a TV series!
I agree.
Agreed 100%
I think the format of these videos fits youtube better than tv but i do see where you're coming from

As a North American, I am amazed at the age of some of these man-made landmarks. A pier from the 13th century? A huge harbor from the 1800s? Wow.
bmw325num99 England's full of old castles and ruins. 👍🏻
Yes, well it was only because we got bored after making all these things that we then went off and made America ...... sort of!
