- Charlie and I continue our leg from Wales to Scotland in Goodwin, the tiny 4m speedboat. In this episode we pickup where we left off, waking up in Barrow-In-Furness, inside the walls of Piel castle on Piel Island.
We bounce North in our tiny rigid inflatable boat. Calling in at Whitehaven before landing in Scotland on the Galloway coast. We spend the night on tiny Murrey's Island and wake up early to make it around the treacherous Mull of Galloway.
We drop in for fuel at Portpatrick and from nowhere a generous lift to the petrol station in Stranraer is provided by the old harbour master. With full tanks we head up into the Firth of Clyde and around the isle of Arran before heading to look at the castle on Wee Cumbrae. It's a tiny island and after seeing some people in the garden of the big house we are given kind permission to spend the night inside the ancient keep. The island is private but in the process of opening up for visitors to stay in the main house. A big thank you to the caretakers for being so helpful and welcoming.
From Little Cumbrae we head to Great Cumbrae, Largs Marina and then on a loop around Bute and then Loch Fyne. We head to the top of the Loch and reach Inveraray but it's low tide and there's no real place to moor up. We head down through the night and end up at the beginning of the Crinan canal. We make it down the canal, but not without issue.

Cannot understand why a TV company hasn't picked this up. It's easily the best travel documentary I've seen.
Shame to see Godwin diminished but given what you've done to it so far, I'm sure you'll have it back in no time.

i think -- maybe in the same way that the YT Primitive Technology channel couldn't successfully make the jump to "television" -- the self-taught self-funded self-driven individual British adventurer/explorer spirit of Harry and the good ship Goodwin might be lost when imbued with the cash and flash of a big TV sponsor.
Ive said this many of times, but unfortunately Harry being a busy man has never noticed I’ve said this time and time again, 👍👍👍

Harry, your adventure inspired me to take one of my own recently. A friend and I did over 100 miles cruising and camping around the San Juan islands in a 15 foot aluminum boat with a 30hp motor. It’s about the only place in the world that could compare with Scotland. Thanks for this wonderful series.

When I saw poor Goodwin poised for certain disasterI shouted at the TV.”Noooo” It was tragic, yet comical and entertaining. No one was hurt. Good. Three Brit’s passing through Scotland, trolling themselves provided the necessary context to make it funny. Chalk it up to a momentary lapse of reason. Quote if the day? “Godwins got a pop! “
I adore this series. Hopefully poor Goodwin will be restored without too much fuss. She looked like a Womble with her flat bow!
If the BBC tried to emulate this little gem of a show, they'd suck all the air out of it faster than Harry's comically inept attempt to launch Goodwin into the Crinan canal.

Another cracking video Harry. It was a shame Goodwin got a puncture, I could see it when it was rolling off the trailer, but there was nothing that could of been done as Goodwin was past the point of no return. You just had to let it carry on into the water, good job it stayed afloat.
