Twenty five years ago I saw Jimmy life for the first time right before their second album came out. The buddy that brought me to the show passed in the winter of 2021 from COVID complications leaving behind a wife and three amazing little girls. His bandmates played this song for him at the funeral. My hair still stands up on my neck everytime I see hear this live version. Thanks for giving this song the air it deserves and valuing what it means to so many of the JEW fans.
“Hear you me” was originally written as tribute to Mykel and Carli Allen who were friends and huge supporters of Jimmy Eat World and Weezer, who used to put the band up when they were playing in town. On the way back from a Weezer concert they were killed in a car accident so this was written for them in posthumous thanks. Always breaks my heart.

Wow, what a stunning song! I'm pretty sure (but not positive) I've only heard the studio version before and somehow this version just hits harder. This is so beautiful and the lyrics are stunning... This is actually my favorite song by this band even though I'm not sure why but I do get teary eyed because the song is just beautiful and I believe it's on the same album as The Middle as well as another song that touched my heart as much as this one called The Sweetness ❤😢🎉

The line about "a heart so big God wouldn't let it live" hit me hard. I lost a friend earlier this year, and that line fits him perfectly.
