Buddy, be realistic, it’s a 15k Range Rover.
The tailgates never line up, leave that alone.
Exhaust rattle? Turn the radio up, it’s not worth the cost.
Ice blast the underside and Waxol it.
Do the brake pads and service the gearbox because that will get worse if you don’t have that done.
It’s a 2015 with a thirst for parts, you have to except it won’t ever be concourse, it will just develop a character.
Love the channel and the input your girls have. They are the passengers in your front seat ego

BOLTS ON THE BOOT LID WORK LOOSE - Just need tightening up. What you need to do is check the drain channels on the sunroof, they rust out above the B pillars, flood the car and kill the electrics. Wet seatbelts is the first sign !!!!!!

The roads are filthy cos most of them never get cleaned so cleaning it in the autumn/winter/spring is like taking a shower then running naked through a pigsty! In late spring and summer you can sometimes keep the car clean for a few days so can be worth doing.

Looks like a good buy. Definitely service the gearbox, agewise it's well overdue. Any auto car that's 10+ years old should have had it done. Please don't put a loud exhaust on it, it would destroy the image of what is a dignified, prestige vehicle. It would be like putting upvc windows & neon lights on a listed country mansion.

  • @KeithMottram
    @KeithMottram Місяць тому +5

Buy as large a Neodymium magnet as you can afford and attach it to the underside of the exhaust back box. Move the magnet around until the rattling stops. If you are unlucky, you may need more than one.
I would only do this after you have (1) vacuumed out the rear box and if that fails (2) try a magnet tied to a cord down the tailpipe and see what you can fish out. Another approach, if easy, is to remove back box and give it a shake.......

Love the chemistry building with you 3! As for the rattle I do have an endoscope 😂 but to be honest one of those custom exhaust shops would be the most cost effective way. They would probably cut from the top and dive in to pick out the rattle or replace some baffles or weld back any that’s moved and then weld it all back up. Invisible fix until the whole unit gets removed at a later date. Pads should be reasonably cheap and cheerful, especially for rear ones so hopefully the damage won’t be too bad!

Take backbox off, cut it open with an angle grinder, fish out the loose bit of tack out back together with welder then weld it shut. Garage should be able to do that under £100 easy, 20 min job. I did the same with my centre box on my track car when it had a rattle. Don't buy a new one

  • @hallyfella

As already said , take the back box off and cut it open take out the offending piece and weld it up . Defo wire brush the under neath and give it a coating of something to prevent rust. These cars are not as bad as people make out. They buy a car which was £90k new for pennies and then won't spend the money on maintenance !!

I have a tool thats a magnet on a length of flexible rod. I would try that first and see if its possible to fish it out. If that didn't work I would probably remove the exhaust and see if it can be shaken out. Depending on the cost of a new backbox at that point either replace it, or cut it open (ontop, the part you don't see when fitted) and try and see if whatever it is can be removed. I think it could be the structure of the exhasut failing, in which case only a replacement will solve it.

These suffer from oil dilution due to failed dpf regens, most say 5k+ oil service but I have to change the oil every 3k miles in mine due to doing alot of short journeys, I even sent oil off to get analysed at 3k jus to confirm and came back 9.4% diesel in the oil, you will hear like a turbo flutter when it in a regen so what I do is if I arrive at my destination I'd give it a rev an if I hear it I let it sit an idle for 2 - 3 mins so it will cancel the regen before I turn it off to stop the extra fuel it dumps into it to heat the dpf quicker leaking back into the oil. Pain in the ass but nice motor, and also when servicing the gearbox do the transfer box aswell! And keep a eye on the front upper suspension knuckles they crack over time and if does snap when doing speed all I can say is good luck 😅

1000 mile trip to Scotland? I'm on 2500 miles with just 1 week in Scotland and now 2nd week in Newquay. L322 tdv8 with now na adaptive suspension issue 😂. Rear shocks and height sensors delivered to local post office, just got to find someone to fit them urgently. 😮

13:50 You buy a car without knowing how long it has an MOT for or seeing the locking wheel nut key?
Range Rover drivers have this reputation, you do nothing to change it.
