As always good content
Was expecting a bit more detail, more cars
Too much talking and giggling - less off that please next time.
Need more content and seriousness, this is not a Saturday morning chat show!
More cars please next time! within the price point range, M3s etc, Cayman SL55AMGs
Merc CL, Corvett
BMW 4 series, Z4, RS4, RS6, TT etcs
330i, 430i
More meat, 🍖 🥩 next time and less peas 🫛 and potatoes 🥔 please!!
Casually flexing that F50 wheel 😂
Had my 14 year old Bentley GT nearly two years now. Spent nothing on it other than a £600 service. The soft close on the drivers door has failed but it's an Audi part and costs £15 on eBay. Maybe I've been lucky! I've had porsches, BM's. Mercs, integrales Quattros, the lot. Conti is the best car I've ever had. Would always jump in it over my new Range Rover!
That’s promising to hear!
I actually have a 1989 Fiat Uno Turbo that I have owned from new! It has an original 28,000 miles on the clock backed up with Mot history, full Fiat service history. And I would describe it in as new showroom condition!
Wow! 🤯
Mate you must have one of 7 left big respect 🤛🏿🥷
@@StephenEdwards-Newell it's my pride and joy and was the best purchase I ever made
There was a pukka blue one on
my manor back in the day you just don’t see them anymore 😢
@@StephenEdwards-Newell I also own a Renault 5 Turbo that I purchased when it was only 2 years old and that only has 42,000 miles on the clock from new, and I have a Renault Fuego Turbo that I got when it was only 4 years old, the 2 Renault's are Mot'd but currently sorned off the road!!! And I have a Renault 25 V6 Turbo and a Renault 18 Turbo that are both off the road as they need a lot of work to make road legal again!!!
We just picked up a tidy E46 M3 cabrio for £8,500, under 100k miles and unmodded, gave it a good service and has proved to be a solid buy. Reckon these are at the bottom of the depreciation curve now, would be a great dad car!
SMG?
@@dadcars Manual 👍
I was literally just scrolling looking at all the ones listed at 10-12k ish not moving and thought I bet someone will bite. Seems £8.5k is the where they are at. What platform did you find that one if you don't mind me asking? (E92,s and 996 911s defo in the same catagory rn maybe a few grand more)
@@lolmeercatz10 This one was FB marketplace, a lot of rubbish out there but this was local and completely standard, chap had taken it as a px on his Ferrari. It was fundamentally solid and worth investing in, probably owes us about £9,800 all in after putting 4 x PS4s and a good service on it, so a well sorted car at £10k would be a good buy. Peach of an engine on these.
It's actually my son's car, he was looking at Porsches, beyond the purchase price BMW bills much more affordable than Porsche ones, even from good indies (I've got a Cayman and have had 911s)!
What's going on in the UK market?! Just today I talked with a dealer who sold a very nice manual E46 with a little above 100k km for close to 50k CHF....
RS5 is a bomber choice, XK(R) or even XFR. Something a little different, a GT86. Is a 2+2 and has iso fix. Not quick (quick enough when you have kids) but will be one of the best feeling/driving cars you can drive. Look smart and different enough to be interesting.
Great video - The Bentley would be my 1st choice from a UA-cam perspective, but a 996, BMW M3, Merc SL, BMW 6er (e63/64 or F11/12), CLK AMG, etc would all be on my radar.
I once heard the comment 'If you don't look back at your car and smile after parking it, then you're driving the wrong car'. I recently bought a 2014 330d touring X drive with 112k and it's all the car that I've ever wanted, but it is something of an appliance. I'm looking to change out the wheels and add some bling because it's everything that my previous 635d was and more, but it's just bland to look at.
Glad I got my 2006 4.2 XK a couple of months ago before you tell everyone about them. Picked up a 2 owner 23k mile, FSH car that had just had a £1k set of Dunlops and £2.5k full suspension overhaul done to it by the previous lady owner and it only cost me £12k! It’s like new (garaged all its life) and is the best car I’ve ever driven and that’s coming from a 50yr old who’s had an access to two new company cars every 2 years for a very long time 👍🏻
Sounds like a peach or a car 👏
the rs5 is beautiful and sounds amazing
Great video. I think you're right, a £10k Bentley would be so high risk. As you know, I have an RS6 C6 and I'm too scared to buy an old Continental. They can present bills well into 5 figures and have their own share of engine out repair issues. Many cars with huge engines crammed into smallish engine bay need engine out for repairs.
You need some money set aside for these types of cars and as I always say it’s about being able to comfortably afford to run them properly, if so they are worth every penny imo
@@dadcars oh yes, they certainly are. I was tempted by a bentley from a specialist in London that sells Bentley & Rollers and gives a 2 year inhouse warranty with all cars sold and a major service pre-delivery if its not recently been done. On those cars, spark plug service costs a bomb. The only things that stopped me were the cars were quite pricey and the warranty doesn't cover "wear and tear". On a 15-20 year old car, they could argue that almost any failure is wear and tear 😂. I'd love one but the chances of being thrown a 5k-15k bill on a 10k car just ruin it. That & the fact that any Bentley specific parts will also be silly expensive.
I do also have a RS6 C6, and it amazes me every time I drive it. I do have a tune to close to 900hp (larger turbos, modified cooler) and it's absolutely perfect as a daily. Gonna be a dad soon and we decided that this will be our family car (instead of a Q7 V12 or SQ7 TDI). From an emotional perspective the car is more involving than the C7 RS6 I have as well. C7 is more capable and easier to live with, but probably a tad to "easy". And with a light beige Alcantra interior not exactly ideal for kids... 😃
Don't the Bentleys have sticking accelerators that cause them to explode when they crash into a boarder crossing?
I’d recommend the Skoda Superb 2.0L 180bhp. It has low tax, is ULEZ compliant, and the estate version offers an impressive 660L boot capacity. And you don’t look like a flash Harry
I think I was offered one to review but for some reason it never got booked in… I’d like to film one for sure
Noooo you want the 280 of the superb! Smiles per gallon not miles per gallon.
@@AI-Records24 this 👍 own one, great all round dad car
Ash definitely knows what he's talking, his picks are spot on. What I would consider besides these, would be BMW 4 Series, 5. gen. Ford Mustang, Jag S Type V8 or XK/R, Maserati Quattroporte,
My first taste of Italian Exotica was a 2003 Red 156 GTA and yes…..it had the amazing Busso. Certainly my biggest sale mistake, but definitely a great £10k dad car.
Great episode Ben, would love to see if you can get a 911 for your budget. Although it would only then mean I would want one too!! Really enjoying the channel
🙌😊
You should have so many more subscribers. Love what you do and wish I wasn't so under the thumb to be stuck with our outlander PHEV (although it does only need a £50 refill every 3 months which is epic).
Bentley GT continental in blue is the dream though...
Thanks man! 🙌😊
Grandcabrio or Bentley GT for me Ben. Currently own 2012 TTS stage 2 + DSG. What a fantastic car with 70k miles. Definitely not a family car 😂
Consider American cars ben, they have been an undervalued cheat code in the UK for a while and this market is just another blow to them. I reckon you can get a c5 corvette for £10k now, not really dad car criteria but the other muscle cars definitely are, camaros, challengers and proper 2000's mustangs will all have isofix etc as well in the rear seats as the yanks were big on that stuff.
Find me a Challanger or Camaro with a V8 for £10k and I’m in
Good point Adam, having had a 997 911, I remember that feeling of worrying about bore score 😂
Monaro vxr 😍
Thats my dad car.
6.0 v8 400hp rwd, sounds amazing, turns heads fuel economy is shite 😅, no fancy gimmicks on it just pure ozzy muscle......and they are quite a rare sight
I’d love to review one 😎
@dadcars time and distance might be our enemy.
I'd gladly give you mine to do your thing but I'm up near Manchester and don't really have spare time at the mo to take out.
If you are ever up north then you are more than welcome to it.
Classic car ... cheap parts
@@5150TJT got to import a lot of parts 😕
Porsche 970 Panamera is worth a look. Controversial looks, but better in some colors, fantastic interior, all day comfort and surprisingly good handling for such a big car. It does sweeping on ramps with more stability at higher speeds than my 993. Agree with the Mercedes 190 Cosworth, could also check out its successor the w202 C43, doesn't have all the safety features of todays cars, but built like a vault and had every safety feature of the time.
Ah Ben, I know the “a bit of a fixer upper” all too well being a daughter Dad, frozen songs are too catchy 😂
👏😂 that’s why I love the viewers of this channel, someone always gets the bits only Dads would know 🙌
For 10k I’d be looking at an Alfa 147 GTA- that engine and way it looks, for me, is perfect hot hatch
My weekend Dad car is the e46 330ci cab. Kids love it and it’s a safe place for your money. It’s just been written off so I’m in the market for an M3. You can get them for £10k, probably shouldn’t, but you can 🤔
Yeah a lovely manual convertible recently sold on collecting cars for just over 10k
Great pick, I use mine for work & collect one child from school so even though it can fit four just a superb daily #CSLairboxftw
Some of those I would have never believed to be £10k cars! Love seeing Joe back on the channel and Ash a very welcome addition! There’s so much available at that price point but 90% of it is just “practical Dad” not “fun Dad”. Since you’ve got practicality and luxury sorted the next car must have fun written all over it!
🙌❤️ you’re right that’s why I’m leaning strong on the 996 manual
XKR if you can get it for 10k, be interesting to see how its like to live with.
The best car I've owned so far is my current one, the kia optima gt line s. It's not flash, it's definitely not fast, but it's a great family car.
High Peak Motors has a cracking and now sorted ( buying and fault repair history documented on UA-cam) S class for £6k… got to be worth a consideration
Ask Matt to help me out! I’d gladly take some help from a UA-cam dealer 🙌
@dadcars why wouldn't you as him yourself?
Get the Jaaag!!! I loved this format, not new (obvs) but it worked really well between the 3 of you. Nothing wrong with the RS5 but the Bentley is not for you I feel. Oh and it needs to be something other than a Maserati as it needs to be another make/experience.
🙌😊
Megane RS275. Should still be well worth considering.! Be the most reliable and cheaper to run. Also the most fun on twisty roads.
I’d love to review one, I can’t own two Renaults at the same time though 🙈
@@dadcars I think u should definitely drive one. 😉
I am a dad and my Dadcar is a convertible 2013 BMW 640d. Can be less than £10k and they are the best of nearly everything. Kids love it! Wife loves it. I love it.
Let’s get it on the channel for review 😎
Oooooo I adore the 640d. Crazy fast fantastic styling inside and out and mega fuel economy and rare enough to be properly special. Good choice sir
I have a DB9 and a BMW 640d with 400bhp remap. It’s incredible!! I get 45 to the gallon and it’s as fast as the Aston!! Mrs now wants one (to replace the X6 she drives) but with the convertible roof. I rarely drive the Aston cos my 640d is so good!!
I had a 640d gran coupe… absolutely loved that car. Would happily have another one!
@@dadcars where are you based?
Buy my 996. Zenith Blue W reg. £13500 IMS, clutch, brakes all done less than 2000 miles ago. 👍
Email or DM me a link to it on insta 😊
I recently aquired a RHD Cadillac CTS Sportwagon which ticks every single box. Potentially the only one in the UK and under ££10k
I’d get an higher mileage 2000 -2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 4. That would be a great dad car!
Good video Ben, it’s getting interesting now with 10k to spend, you should go Bentley for the wow factor, or high mileage 911 996. Look forward to seeing what you end up with. Marcus
If a honest owner needed to move their continental on and offered it to me before a dealer got it for peanuts I’m in but the advertised bottom of the market for those cars is sure to end in misery! I’ve already got a cheap Rangie on the drive remember 🙈 when the channel grows though I’ll be able to roll the dice more 😂
The Bentleys are insanely expensive to run and maintain. My brother in law had 2 of them.. the 996 will need an engine rebuild at some point in its life (hello bore score) unless it’s a turbo.
I drive jag xk 4.2 n/a in dark blue decromed back box deleted sounds like a proper v8 muscle car, gets a lot of glance and compliments. Downside rear seats are terrible but big boot
The 4.2 XK is a tremendous car
@@dadcars Yeah but you've been there and done that haven't you? Even if it was only for a short while.
The only one I can think of is an early BMW M6. Polarising looks but I think they have improved with age.
Find me a decent V10 M6 for my budget and I’m in 😂
A 16 plate Tyre R Civic, you cannot fault that car. Ok, not as exotic BUT is a great car for sure.
I’ve never owned a hot hatch :)
Any 6-Series would make a great DadCar, I’ve got an ‘08 650i that I have my nieces in regularly and they love it. IsoFix as standard, big boot and some V8 goodness and also well under £10k.
It’s no supercar, but it’s not slow either. And the reliability reputation is overblown; if it’s looked after, the V8’s are actually pretty good. If it’s neglected that’s when it throws endless problems.
I wouldn’t spend less than £5k, because it’ll almost certainly be a neglected one, but £7-10k will get you almost any modern 6-Series, which I think are really underrated cars.
They’re not too expensive to insure either.
Agree with that...I recently bought on 07 plate 630i...nowhere near as quick as the 650i ...but it has the creamy smooth n52 engine and was owned by the previous owner for 13 years with full BMW history, cost me a smidgen over 5k...absolutely love it , even though it's a GT it has that old skool BMW feel and makes a lovely contrast to my S Class daily
@@SuhailRana-gp9ko All the engines are great and unlike Audi, there’s no basic-spec 2.0l 4-pot engines. The M6 is, well, the M6, the V8’s are lovely GT engines, the diesel tunes to ridiculous levels, but the 3.0 petrol is one of BMWs iconic engines. And for £5k, that is a lot of car.
Brother in law just got hold of a JDM import legacy estate. £7k for a 70k miles. Jet black with lots of chrome. Just seen an Sti tuned blue one on AT for £10,995
Awesome!
Have a look at a Merc CL’s. Plenty of CL500’s, CL55’s and even a couple of V12 CL600’s which would be my choice… a brave one at that!
Yeah Number 27 recently got a SL500 for £500!
The C140 CL Class is worth considering. They were incredibly over-engineered compared to later CL models and make superb long-distance coupe cruisers with pillarless styling. At the moment they are still affordable, but they've been going up in value in recent years. Just make sure that everything works before you buy!
@@misterbridger Good call, I do have a “nicotine stained” one, the same colour as my E430, in my AutoTrader garage. The wife and kids would not be impressed with the colour 😂
Great video, I currently have a small collection of 5 random cars, and am seriously toying with trading out an XJ40 Sovereign and an Astra G convertible and topping it up to get a convertible **** (not sure what but the budget would be around 10k).
The guy on the right with the boxter reminds me of Lee Mac!😂
🤣🤣🤣
I had a bmw m3 and I replaced it with a 2018 skoda superb 2.0 190 tdi dsg sel executive estate and it was brilliant, admittedly it didn't make the ladies panties drop but it saved me a fortune and it was magical to drive ,it was reliable as sin had plenty of shove and all the mod cons .if you really want a cool dad car I would go old skool Mercedes a pillar less coupe from the early 90s think road house 500 sel 🇩🇪
CL600 V12 Bi-Turbo or the CL55 Kompressor… very cool, very fast, fully loaded & seats 4 🤷🏻♂️
Second option which you will probably laugh off but a late model RX8 face lift with good compression and low miles. Under 10k but a great driving Coupe. Just don't looked at the mpg
RX8 is a great shout but I’d be more tempted at the 5k step 😊
The Bentley at 10k is seriously tempting. Got one in the family that was bought for 15k and it’s needed a fair amount of jobs doing and parts. Unless you can do it yourself or have gullible friends to help it would get very expensive very quickly.
I know its aging a little bit but I think a 330Ci or an E46 M3 Convertible is a fun car as its quite versatile and fun at the same time.
Audi S6 Avant - BMW 6 Series - 5 Series 550i - Merc C63 or CL - XKR - Granturismo - Megane Trophy - Panamera or 911 Targa
S6 avant is a great shout, if you can find me a C63 that’s not about to blow up for 10k I’ll buy it
@@dadcars The S6 Avant is a beast, you wont find better but If the C63 isn't in budget then you might try a C32 AMG Wagon or an S8 both would make for some interesting content...
I’m definitely a dad car with 8 kids my wife has a 7 seater Skoda I’ve got a 2011 jag xf s 3.0d powerful and luxury cream leather 👍
I’m impressed with everything in this comment 👏
I will pray for you tonight brother 😂😂
Maybe buy a book? Watch the TV?
Never anything on 🤣
Johnny did not have him covered
I think you covered most bases for the 10k mark. There’s one Phaeton W12 on AT in your budget but that might feel like a poor man’s Flying Spur. Lots of Golf Rs in that range too, though you might not have it long before it gets nicked! Staying on the hot hatch theme though you can get Megane RS for less than 10k. And if you like an Alfa with a Busso there’s one 156 GTA on AT for 7k but it doesn’t look in great condition.
I’d love to review a Megan RS but I can’t own two French cars at the same time 😅
@@dadcars A lot of people do but normally it’s because they need a parts car!
Hmm .. 4.0litre XJS celebration I saw one slightly lowered the other week and they are sleek!
😮💨👌
Every good story starts with an Alfa.
😅
How about a Giulia Veloce, now available for just over £10k with higher mileage? Later, you could do a 'new vs old Alfa' episode when you get a £5k V6 GT!
Great shout
I’ve had a bit of ring time in an Audi RS6 V10, whilst it sounded nice the understeer is horrendous. If you want a V10 get an M6 or M5, ugly but much better drivers cars.
I think a V10 estate works perfectly though and the m5 tourings are Uber expensive! Makes the RS6 avants look like bargains
Bentley, grantourismo, alfa. In that order. 👌🇦🇺
BMW M6 ❤❤ V10, over 500bhp, plenty of room an super cool (and rare)
Is someone offered me a good example for my budget I’m interested!
BMW e46 m3 hover around £10k might need a bit of work but you won’t lose money or maybe an Alpina b3 for something different
The SL wasn’t a 2+2 but you can add seats and lap belts
If you can ever make it to Tampa Florida you can review my dad cars. E30 325i, 22 m340i, and 2001 4Runner built for off-roading!

I’d have a RS4 avant for sure!
It would have to the Alfa GT for me. The Bentley I couldn't care less about. The Granturismo also tickles my fancy but not as much as the Alfa.

Would love to see an rs5 on the channel. Disagree with your mates comments about it being boring completely. There's a white on on autotrader now for 10,490 and it looks great.
Can't also ignore the value of an xkr, plenty of good examples in that price range.
Plenty of maserati options but having already featured one I think it'd be in your best interest to find something different right now.

I reviewed a crazy modified S7 super early in the channel check it out!
I have two perfect Dadcars - a 2014 BMW 435d X-drive convertible and a 1980 VW T2 camper. Both around £10k and each brilliant fun. The six pot BMW twin turbo engine is utterly brilliant, and in 4 wheel drive it is a pleasure to chuck around the lanes. The VW on the other hand, is brilliant but in totally opposite ways - the kids love them both in equal measure.
That’s a great duo 👏
@dadcars thanks, they're great weekend cars.
My daily is a BMW i4 M50 which from an engineering perspective is just outstanding. Comfy, stupid fast and four seats. The perfect EV. That, sat alongside my Discovery 3 and the other two, is a garage with four cars for any occasion!
But, I do quite fancy a Bently, had no idea one can be bought for £10k. Wow.
Same engine in the 435d and 640d? But the 4 series significantly lighter!
@cj.6988 Yeah, same N57 engine with about 310 hp. Best thing about it is the smoothness of the torque. It's a great engine. 👍🏻
The 4 series is generally lighter, but mine is a convertible so has a little weight over the saloon. Great fun with the sun though.

@@dadcars absolutely awesome, can’t beat a naturally aspirated v8 the sound on start up is incredible ,for a car that’s 17 years old the build quality is A1,carbon fibre everywhere and the wingback seats are class 👍
On the Alfa side... Why not a Brera? 10k will get you a cool Prodrive.
Jayemm has suggested a Brera to me multiple times. I’m a bit romantic about a busso for my first Alfa though
@@dadcars completely get that... A GTV is a sexy 2+2. Cheaper scam tax than a GT as well 👍
