- The Low-Key Rapper Always Wins - Now, we all know about a couple of rappers in the mainstream who are extremely low-key. Kendrick Lamar comes to mind when I think about one; despite being such a big name, he's a a very low profile personality. His music speaks for him so there's no need for him to not say low-key. There's a lot of benefits to rappers being low-key though.. That's what I talk about.
In this video I talk about why the low-key rapper always wins.

The key is to keep everyone focused on your music and not your personal life. That's the reason why artists who make spectacular albums aren't the ones doing dumb shit on social media.

Having a low profile personality is good, it keeps you from getting harassed or even killed a lot of the times too.

Frank ocean lowkey af
Jake D frank could die and we wouldn’t be suspicious until 6 years later
Xavier Ocon fr 💀
Keeps you from pointlessly spending money trying to maintain an image too and lets you work on more meaningful music/business ventures.
But the thing is, the less talented rappers can only pop up by being flashy
True... that's also why they're the fastest to fade away
Stay lowkey.
Then be more talented

@@BoLuke and I swear if anyone says it's not possible... They just gotta study the greats see why they succeeded and do their thing without rushing it.
Being low-key isn’t just a calculated move. Sometimes people are just private and introverted. They wanna be alone & chill with close friends and family. Just saying.
The 9ine God this dude talks like he knows everything behind the scenes lol I wish he would put a disclaimer in saying he’s soley opinionated and not always factual
I’m pretty introverted but I do want to get into the industry it’s pretty much been my dream my entire life
Introverts are typically the realest people you meet.
Playboi Carti, Roddy Rich, ect are well known for their introverted personalities.
@@irishscience580 aww u made my morning
Being low key allows you to notice the small things in life that you may not even realize you picked up on it meanwhile everyone else is exposing themselves to the world which is just going to spit you out every time
People spend more time talking online than actually working on their craft.

“Observe the competition, execute your intention, bask in recognition” - Kendrick Lamar, probably
El Toro i think that was Ronald Reagan
Derek nah bro it's isaac newton
Nour Algarah look at Kendrick man, so inspirational
This is Blacky's way of saying 'I'm not showing my face '
being low-key is pretty smart tbh . while some other rappers love to b seen and heard , some rappers don’t like to b in the spotlight , maybe because they don’t like the attention , who knows .
Or maybe they know that their music speak for themselves. That true art

I've never understood the need to brag about shitty life decisions. Even when I was in the party scene doing stupid shit, I didn't brag about it to everyone. Why would you? Not everybody is cool with that shit. It's so childish, man. Draw that kind of attention, you're gonna have problems. One day you're gonna want something to be taken seriously and nobody's gonna see it.
Also get out of here clowns... plugging on a top comment isn't a good look. I know you're trying to rock out with your shit, but it's disrespectful to the original commenter. Screams desperate.

I'm applying this to my life tbh, I'm in College and SUPER low-key now. I'm not on social media every day letting everyone know my business. Dealing with people especially in this generation is a chore, so I literally stay away and act differently from the people that smoke weed (there's nothing wrong with smoking weed) and go clubbing, flash money and live that "Poppin" lifestyle. Like the video said, I'm playing the long game.

I feel like A Boogie is more of a low-key rapper which I feel has let his fanbase become stronger. You notice how much they love him for his music and while he does reveal things about himself, he won't answer certain questions, he doesn't like having beef with people, and he loves having his small group of ppl around him. He is a very smart young rapper in my opinion
Roddy Ricch is following in Kendrick's Footsteps and I'm loving to see it.
Blacky we are so thankful for your information, what i would want is these young rappers watch you, they would learn a LOT from you.
A lot of rappers think being loud and talkative shows that they are tough or about that life. It actually shows a sign of weakness and insecurities. But when your quiet and stay to your self people might not admit it but it makes some people scared of you because they know nothing at all about you and people fear what they don't understand
MJ was slick lowkey too. He was just so big he really couldnt even be as lowkey as he was

I mean it could be just the fact that they like to have their privacy and don't care too much about the glam and fame. This is my fav video you've made so far. Everything else is depressing
I've always been low key & it's a virtue
Less drama & more time to spend on your personal goals
Low key individuals are seen as arrogant but that differs from person to person
I just do me & keep it moving
I can't even remember how your videos were before you got that drawing man, it's been so long and you still keep spitting facts
I think the correct term in my opinion is a seasonal rapper. Low- key to me sounds like a person who is not confident or ready to handle the pressure of being famous so they stay hidden I don't say that in a bad way but these are people who don't want their live affiliated with what the media says. I get your points but I feel like when it comes to Kendrick, I see him as a seasonal rapper. He is a person who has structured his career to impact people along with a certain time. The buzz about him comes once he drops an album, and stays low when he is silent. The great thing about this is that the media respects him and allow him to prepare for anything he has next. They don't bother him with any other stuff besides what he is good at. Just like summer people anticipate, prepare and enjoy the moment, look back and allow the memories to grow with them and welcome the next summer.
Great video though....been waiting for someone to say this.

Childish Gambino is like that too. Until just recently I didn't realize that he was married with kids. The focus is on him and his talents.
Real talk. You have more power revealing less to the world.
BlackySpeakz, You are an absolute G mate!
Low-key rappers want to produce music and give a message to the people. The exact opposite of the other 99.9% new rappers, you want some quick money and clout. Rappers like J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, RA The Rugged Man etc prove every single time that they want to give a message and thay only. That means no stupid controversies, no flexing, no pop star life. This is for me the best way to put it simply

Completely agree, you got artists like J Cole, Kendrick, NF is really low key, JID is on twitter quite a bit but still lowkey hes just on there talking to fans making his fanbase grow and become stronger rather than using it to be famous, and I dont know a damn thing about JID's life
AHEM Roddy Rich

I wish j.cole's ego was as lowkey as the rest of his life
Sean STROMAN I didn’t even know J Cole was married tbh lol, but I guess that’s because I’m not so much a fan of him as I am Kendrick.
TreyDZd that’s kinda unfair seeing as every rapper has the right to put themselves as best as they see fit. I mean Kendrick does the same thing in TPAB, the Heart Compilation, his Control verse. It’s just part of the game. Matter of fact, I think their style of “boasting “ is more respectable than a lot of rappers out these days. This ain’t me bashing any of the rappers, but a lot of that rap boasting and confidence today comes with flexing, threatening, or a combination of both.
@@chiemxerxobi theres flexing and then theres acting like you know better than everyone else. Obviously other rappers just talk about physical objects and shit. J. Cole always acts like he knows what life is all about and what they way of life is. It's annoying

This is a pattern almost every single artist that knows his or her position in music carries themselves. Frank, Kendrick, Travis, Jay-Z these guys are just a handful of people that are in several different spots in their career but still manage to keep under the radar.
