As a black woman, thank you for being a black man speaking in this in the manner you did. I hear her music at my daughter’s cheer competitions and all the little girls knew word for word all her songs… my daughter didn’t know who she was until our first competition. I always questioned why they were allowing the DJ to have her on his playlist and I just got weird looks from the other moms..

Thats crazy what they allow in these schools like it genuinely concerns me...are they oblivious to the lyrics when its right in front of their faces and is so crystal clear what she is applying into her lyrics? Which just points out the obvious that they just flat out dont give a damn...or they are completely aware of the lyrics and still dont care for the well being of our children...bc at the end of the day we have to ask ourselves are they really even concerned seeing that they simply dont want to put in the effort to protect our children from grime/provocative shit like this which shoukd be their main priority considering they are legally responsible for these kids 60% of every day which is spent molding who they become in life... Scary world we are living in this day and age when you cant even trust the grown "responsible" adults that are leading our youth into they're future. Btw, sorry for the loor punctuation and spelling, its been a long day. 😂 point is my heart breaks for our youth and it does not take a genius to see the obvious and inevitable that we truly in fact are in the end of days. God bless you all and keep your kids close and pray for all the kids growing up in this era.

Also im sorry that you been judged by the "other moms"...but i honestly feel sorry for them that they fall into the same category as most ppl that think this is just a "normal innocent faze". In reality it is most definitely NOT a faze, but a trick sack that i personally refuse to fall into or follow suit behind ppl like this^^^even more so the youth is who i fear for bc they are just so yound and actually are innocent souls that they cant wait to corrupt in twisted agenda that has been planned for them. But i respect you and tip my hat to you for being the small remnant of ppl that actually have their eyes open and arent tricked by these antics that alot of the worlds population fall victim to. Shout out to you for being real and doing everything in your power to raise your daughter right.

This. Nowadays, I find myself wondering if the insane growth and popularity of gangsta rap in the first place was organic. Did it become popular because its more accessible and "cool" to the average consumer. Or was gangsta rap intentionally promoted and propped up as a propoganda device to further negative stereotypes and glorify criminal behavior. Is gangsta rap a fucking psyop?

It's honestly because black people internalize racism to the point they have insecurity about being black. Black people care way more about being black than white people care about them being black. Black women for some reason try to embrace things that make them more closely resemble white women, black men have dreams of creating empires and generational wealth, etc, because they are raised to think white people hold them back, white people are where it's at, white people got the power, white people is what you are when you "make it." So once they rise above their bad circumstances, they start to look down on those other poc, because they've internalized that racism they believed was out there, to the point that they hate themselves and their own people for not being white. It's a self hatred thing that frankly comes from the black community itself. They think about us being racist WAY more than we think about them at all. I guess in hip hop terms, black people are haters. Insecure, and acting out because of it. Not to say racism doesn't exist, but the extent to which black people think the world is actively holding them down and hating them is a fairy tale they tell themselves and then they let it rule their life. Probably literally everyone will be too caught up in emotion and reaction to see I'm 100% right about this.

I as a teen used to listen to all kinds of rough rap. Everyone loves DMX but you can’t tell me he didn’t talk about robbing people a lot. And I look at a lot of the music like movies. Even if he is out there or was robbing people. Didn’t make me say Shiiid DMX is out here robbing everything moving so am I. It was entertainment. Not to say I wasn’t out in the streets. But that was from needing money but I didn’t just mimic what I heard in the music. It’s definitely a choice. But the younger the kids the more influence they’ll be under! It’s a touchy subject.

While I agree the music industry plays a hand in these issues, at the end of the day it’s the consumers that purchase what they’re presented with. If people wanted different figures in music, they’d stop buying this bs. To go even further, we live in a world where many different types of artists can exist, but people rarely make famous a wholesome/ conscious artist. The music industry goes where the money is. If people wanted wholesomeness, that’s where the industry would go. That being said, even though it’s been kind of debunked, the fact that many owners of these hip hop labels are also investors in the prison complex is terrifying. Awesome video man. Well, tbh, original gangster rap wasn’t so much glorifying the behavior as lamenting that they felt forced into it. That’s the difference. Sexy Red isn’t out here talking about how she wishes she could make it out the hood because she feels forced into criminal activity and slutty behavior. She’s out here glorifying it and acting like it’s the high life, which makes kids want it, they begin aspiring to be that. But the gangster rap that DOES glorify it is definitely on the same level and should face the same criticism.

Sexy red is the example of why children shouldn't be exposed to sexual content. It has shown that kids being exposed to sexual things have negative consequences. This can even cause them to be taken advantage of as they're too young to know that these stuff shouldn't be done as kid and becoming overly hyper sexual isn't truly normal and is a thing of concern especially if they're underage.
Theres already an issue of the over Sexualization of young black girls, acting like younger black girls are naturally hyper sexual which is gross already. And people are starting to blur the line to whats olay and not to expose to children just cause they want to be exposed to it and dont think it'll effect kids at all. But even afult black women have this issue where media treat them more like a sex object and something to be sexualized because media and these fans treats black women like this. They feel like an object to sexualize instead of a person which is sad to see and sad to see the community push. Ive met many who are nerdy and dont fit these boxes that they get treated as not black enough and the community claims black people don't do these things usually involving nerdy hobbies Making people so disconnected. Its gross that people are pushing these stereotypes and not allowing people to embrace themselves cause being black has a typing i guess. Ive seen so many claim they've been told they're not seen as black enough cause they dont act like these characters. The issue isn't just white people in the music industry but also black people who think this is what black is and push these stereotypes cause to them thats whats black and it sucks cause i know the community has enough issue of feeling like they don't feel like they fit in and now these types of people are making it worse by treating being black as a certain way of acting rather then the color of your skin and loving who you are. Maybe cause the black girls ive been friends with were always very nerdy and didn't fit thr body type you see in thr industry, I've always noticed they were treated like they're not part of their own culture just cause they dont fit in a stereotypes was always sad to see. Im not white either but i always noticed being "too white" being pasted around and it always annoyed me that it was usually associated with polite things and being respectful cause why wouldn't you want to associated yourself with that and i always hated it cause it felt like they were saying none whites have to be rude, loud, inconsiderate, dumb. I don't think we can keep blaming white people if our own people keep pushing this issue too. It kind of bothers me when poc keep blaming whites for things poc people keep spreading. Yes it is a problem that white people painted this certain picture of pocs but its also an issue that we keep spreading it like this is who we are. Cause we didn't have to follow the issue white people kept pointing out and yet here we are. Causing our own issues and yet doing all we can to blame everyone else but ourselves.

i don’t think she was overreacting only cause that song is very explicit and for children to want to listen to that (for whatever reason), instead of…children music, it’s upsetting. children are pure, yet these little girls wanna listen to something explicit and point blank sexual. i’m sure it’s shocking for her, because in all honesty it’s sad. stuff like that causes children to grow up quickly mentally. i don’t think any of us would want our kids to be listening to stuff like that. it’d be a problem if you didn’t care though, and that would make you part of the problem.

I appreciate your synopsis of how "suggestive" / "bad" music content can lead to bad outcomes.
It's funny because as I watch this video, it became increasingly clear that this is not just a sexy red issue. This is an issue of a corrupt system.
Sexy red is only conveying what she was taught and what she's learned to be true throughout her life. She's a victim of exploitation as well, although she does reap some benefits.
The oversexualized music content does perpetuate stereotypes of black people. And the crazy part is, if you don't want your kids being like that as a black person or if you don't allow them to listen to that, You're known as being square in the hood. It's a tragedy. But that's a conversation for another day.
Long story short Job well done allowing us to see the behind the scenes of why music affects people, how oversexualized content perpetuates stereotypes, and how the industry is genuinely corrupt and targets at risk young people.
