480 WHP Twin Turbo Nissan 370Z - One Take

  • The Nissan 370Z is a handsome car that led the pack when it was released in 2009. Now, it's a little long in the tooth, making the opportunity for a great bargain on a new one very tempting. Vivek bought a brand new 370Z and installed a Fast Intentions Twin-Turbo kit, making 480 WHP, more than a new Nissan GTR, and by leaving it stock, has quite the sleeper.

      Michael Navarosa Actually, in order to get a pilots license, you have to have a pretty strong understanding of how the aircraft works. Its not like a drivers license that does not require any knowledge of how the vehicle works.

    For a guy that says he is not a fan of Z's he raving on it. I had a 370 with Stillen header back and intake. Had a C5 Vette and it is as fast at least in the 1/4 top end maybe not. But handling is amazing. Very under rated. So tight not rattles and very balanced car. Like he said he does not get the sensation of speed. You don't in these. Have been to 120 in mine. At the speed it is rock solid and it gets there damn quick! Turbo'ing it has got to great!

    The 370z isn't underpowered from the factory. It has enough to do 0-60 in 5 seconds or less, and top out over 160 with the limiter removed. That's still very quick, even by today's standards. The heavy controls are a sign of a high-quality, well-engineered performance car. The whole thing is supposed to feel kind of old school, which is largely missing in today's market. How many 300+ horsepower 2-seaters can you buy for under 30 grand new today? This is the only one I'm aware of. That being said, I'm not sure that a Z can ever really be considered a sleeper. It's a dedicated GT sports car, and they all look pretty racy. When you see one, you never really know what you're getting into.
    With a 370z you get a very analog driving experience for a modern car, at a great price. It has a hydraulic steering rack, rear-wheel drive, a shifter with a true direct linkage to the transmission (you can feel it through the shifter), and a high-revving N/A engine that makes good power. It's really part of a dying breed. Enthusiasts should always appreciate a car like that.

    • @hartsickdisciple
      @hartsickdisciple 7 років тому +40

      Not similar money when you consider mileage and year. I was able to buy a 2015 370z with sport package, with 768 miles on the odometer for $24,900. That's a slightly better than average deal. Can't do that with a 335. There's also the issue of reliability. The Nissan is a simpler car, and less prone to things breaking. The repair costs will also be much lower if they do.

    • @amievap78
      @amievap78 7 років тому +16

      hartsickdisciple well put. 100% correct. I want a 930 but I can't really afford one with semi new mileage on it, they are crazy money. The next best thing and the only other true coupe rwd in the market?(I know the Miata is fantastic but not what I was looking for), the Fairlady z. I was able to fly to Colorado and got a 2016 Nismo with 4400 miles with a cpo wrap (7 years or 100000 miles) for 39990$. The wife drives a Fit sport and this thing is my daily. I fell in love instantly. I tested a 09 Z06, a 14 BMW235, the new STI, and a BRZ. None felt like the Z. If you are a car enthusiast, you know is not all about speed (my Nismo does not feel slow by any means), is about the complete driving experience. The Z excels at this. Good write up and happy motoring.

      Bee Rice Nah, drove an AP2 with bolt-ons at a dealer, had 40k miles and they wanted $26K. Got a 2014 370z sport/touring with 10K miles and 4 years of the extended warranty left for only $25k. These cars are a steal right now and nothing new can compare. The Honda is nice but still lacking in the power department and not much better in the corners either, especially with some camber arms and an alignment on the Z. I love the s2000 and one of my buddies has an ap1, but I would chose the Z any time. Both are great cars however and if one were to find a good deal on a s2000 they should buy it, I would.

    • @n9athan
      @n9athan 7 років тому +10

      +VQ Mods When I hear sleeper I think of unimaginable power. Sure a '90's Nissan Sentra SE-R fully built running 10psi boost is more sleeper than this car but considering they're both well over stock numbers and assuming there are no bodykits or outwardly obnoxious exhausts, both are certainly sleepers.simply more than one would expect considering outward resemblance to their stock counterparts

    Alright... so I'm now halfway through the video and I'm blown away at how fast this thing is for mid 400HP. I've been on cruises with some locals with TT 370's that make between 530-610HP and I thought those things moved. Jesus haha!

Ford in 2005 needed a 4.6l v8 to make 300hp. My v6 3.5L g35 came with 300hp back in 2005 and it has no turbo's. It took 11 years for the market to catch up to nissan. I purchased nissan stock at $9 a share and now it is $19 a share. People are buying nissans. Nissan already announced the release of their new engine, a 3.0 v6 twin turbo with 400hp. Is nissan late to the horsepower party? Of course they are because they have been milking the VQ power plant profits for last decade.

      +Nismo Kid ....for what you are doing with it, you are fine. If you track it hard or more than 2x a year you need an oil cooler. Your car won't over heat, but your oil temp will get to high on a track causing premature wear or so hot the car goes in a fail safe mode. A lot of cars are like this, that they too need oil coolers if you track them often.

    Having owned a 370z in the past(and 3 350z's never with this problem), and in regards to your throttle response comments is very interesting The 370z is well-known for having a terrible, dangerously slow response time(all over forums) from pushing the pedal downand to actually moving... its very bad... I tried everything to make it better; tuning, manual adjustments, etc... nothing worked. I even installed a SprintBooster and it didn't really do much. The last straw for me was almost getting killed at a red light. Pulled up at the front of a traffic light and tried making left when I had a moment to turn and almost got t-boned from the 2 second delay from the pressing the pedal to the power coming on... Had to sell it.... Sounds like the issue hasn't been resolved.

Lightweight flywheels shouldn't be used for daily driving cars because it's too harsh for everyday use. In fact, keeping the stock flywheel would've been better because the powertrain, drivetrain was designed for that flywheel and along with all the other parts. Some less educated people would say that lightweight flywheels are "damn your car revs up fast in neutral, is that a lightweight flywheel bro?". Go to sleep son.

    • @07wrxtr1
      @07wrxtr1 5 років тому

      I agree! The only thing a lw flywheel from my experience seemed to have improved is if you're trying to rev-match downshift (that was in my major pos 07 wrx). Stock fw is the way to go for street/daily commute being stuck behind prius/subaru outback drives high on prescription anti-depressants.

      +JackSwatman Yet we were the first to put a guy on the moon.... Probably with in this guys driving / riding limits it feels amount the same. I doubt he pushes his zx10r like rossi would. Generally I feel safer pushing the limits in cars than I do on a motorcycle that is just me though. Sure 600cc bike is faster than the cts-v I occassionally drive but I am alot more comfortable exploring the limits in the car than I the bike, and I don't even own the CTS-V its just a friends.

    • @mstingray
      @mstingray 8 років тому

      +robm425 judging by the way he was getting anxious when matt's driving, i'd say he hasn't touched the limitations of either his car or bike. i'm betting the car saw more time over triple digits with matt behind the wheel that it had it's entire life prior.
      let's say it's the old ZX10R not the 2016 (200+ crank hp) model. it's still 145whp ~400lb wet. his car is 480whp and ~3300lb. math doesn't add up. he'd need ~1200whp to have the same p/w.

    Also, not a bad deal, for 10-13,000$ you get 200rwhp.. Thats a good bargain. And the Z's dont hold their value at well. Like Matt said, this can be build for about 50,000$ including a brand new car,

      I agree 100%. "Most" 350Z and 370Z owners just seem to throw on some super loud cheap exhaust and call it a day. I'm not knocking the cars themselves, but the 350Z has kind of become the V6 Mustang of the JDM world. It seems like once the average ricer outgrows his FF shitbox, he steps up to a Z-car so he can flex his RWD muscles. It's not the car's fault - I guess their used price-point makes them easy targets. I have yet to come across a serious Z-car on the street in the 15(?) years they've been around, forced induction or otherwise, but I've seen untold dozens outfitted like a deleted scene from 2F2F, making lots of noise but not really going anywhere. Like... even when I owned slower cars, I've never once been "scared" of a 350/370Z. I'd give the average Z32 more breathing room than a 350, any day.

      " most 350z and 370z owners turbo there car,"
      They built tens of thousands of them... the vast majority have stock power
      Go on autotrader and see if over 50% of them in the country have turbo kits on them, I don't even need to look to know that they arent. People like to dream of modifying their cars but never actually do it because its a lot of work n costs a lot of money only to make your car less reliable

    There was an E85 train going on in Sweden 5-10 years ago, I think its starting to wear off now. Here they recently cancelled the subsidies so E85 is only slightly less expencive per litre than 92, but considering the extra consumtion its actually like 20% more expencive. Cant argue with the performance benifits but it also mixes into the oil and messes with the rubber seals.
