I know I’m repeating myself, but you are a brilliant interviewer. You ask poignant questions and let your guest talk. No matter who your guest is, I’m eager to smell their stuff.
I am two months late to this interview but had to say how much I appreciate David’s brand. I recently bought a bottle of Pas Ce Soir - it’s so comforting to me. Gris Charnel, Tubereuse Imperiale and Velvet Tonka are on my To-Purchase list. BDK is one of the first houses I have sampled where I loved more perfumes than I disliked. Thank you to David for sharing beauty with the world ❤️
Just got back from the gym doing my 30 day Persolaise Body Sculpture Challenge. I was watching while on the treadmill and you’re simply the best Persolaise!! Excellent interview, I wanna try Tabac Rose BDK sounds nummy
Loved this interview, David has an excellent brand and a real passion for perfumery. Any chance of interviewing Hedi Slimane? Every house he directs seems to create a legendary perfume line when he’s there (Dior, Ysl, Celine) Big love ❤️
I was watching the live but had my hands tied up cooking for the family. Nearly burnt the rice as this was so engaging. 😂 The internet was not David's best friend today but the show must go on and you both handled it with good humour! Very admirable to have such a brand at such a young age. I really wish him the best. I am not all fussed with the brand, but also not familiar with most of the work. Therefore I cannot judge myself. I definitely need to try more! Fingers crossed the technical goblins are kept away tomorrow, I recommend 10 sprays of Creed Viking to repel them 👍🏼 ;) P.S. I must commend you on your interview style. Good questions and letting the interviewee answer without interrupting. Reminds me of Anthony Davis when he had his 10pm-1am radio slot on LBC. Pleasure to watch. Thank you!
That's so very kind, Jura. What can I say? I just like listening to people, I guess. I don't think I've ever met someone who isn't interesting in some way. Confession: I love burnt, crispy rice.
Paulo (in the comments) nailed it. After watching the entire video, I failed to grasp any USP (unique selling point) and the brand feels more business oriented then anything. This is my impression of alot of niche outfits nowadays sadly. And show me one influencer who gives out a negative review please. Again Persolaise, thanks for asking the tough questions.
As always, thanks for watching. As you know, I want this channel to be a platform for respectful disagreement, so I'm going to respond by saying that I don't think you and I view the brand in the same way. The way I see it, too many brands try much too hard to create a very artificial-feeling USP, with the result that they limit themselves and end up coming across as a bit ridiculous. As David said in the interview, he didn't want BDK to come across as overly conceptual: he just wanted to make good perfumes. And marketing, packaging, image etc aside, the bottom line is that much of BDK's output is really very good indeed.
Another stunningly good interview Dariush, and another new house to me. David seems like a lovely man, hope to check the house out. It's a pity the connection was so shaky in the 2nd half but c'est la vie.
Amazing! This brand is very appealing. I love the grandma story that is behind it. And the ideas behind the creations are beautiful. I will definitely visit the family's shop the next time I am in Paris ( whenever that might be). Btw, David might just be a bit too young to realize that he still might have the time to become a perfumer himself. He has definitely got the passion and the basics he needs.
Thanks for this interview Dariush. David has interesting blood line and history... I own two bdk's and love them. My fav is Gris Charnel and also own Tabac Rose. I am intrigued by the new Velvet Tonka. These are not full sillage but close to skin in my opinion. The summer scents have not worked for me sadly i.e. Riviera and Sel. Love your You tube channel
I love rouge smoaking and creme de cuir I can't decide between the two atm but I realy want to suport this Brand with a full bottle purchas 😍 I have more samples that I want to try in colder weather too. Gris Charnel, to me, is very similar to Penhaligons Monsieur Beauregard. I have a full bottle of that one that was a gift, so I am stocked out on this typ of fracrance for a while.
What an unbelievable spot this guy is in at 31 years old. I have actually never smelled a BDK parfum but now i am interested to get my nose on his creations. Way to navigate the internet goblins. SOTD Salvador Dali pour homme. Can you believe Thierry Wasser made this? Lol -Ramsey
Lovely interview and what a sweet guy David is. Wonderful questions from your side Persolaise
Many thanks for watching.
David Benedek have such a charming smile
Thanks for watching.
David is so charming and kind. I must wear his fragrances.
Thank you, Persolaise, for introducing him to me.
Please do seek them out: they're well worth trying.
Thanks for watching.

You're too kind. I guess I'm just genuinely interested in hearing them speak.

I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. I seem to remember being impressed with Tabac Rose.
Tried Tobac Rose in Harrods. Was nice indeed. On the sweeter side if you like that idea.
Ooo will try!! :3

He'd make a fascinating interview subject. You never know: let's see what we can do.

How I enjoy these interviews, thank you so much, I recently heard Mathilde Laurent on France Culture radio, she spoke of her Guerlain years.
I’d love to get her on the channel. Thanks for watching.

Yes -- technology can be unpredictable.
Many thanks for watching, Cole.
@Cole Dano agreed! Thank you for these brand interviews. I had never heard of BDK but will definitely be sampling.
@@LiaAndrews Excellent. I hope you enjoy their work.
I missed it again! dam it Persolaise! Very nice review! Love BDK!

Brilliant interview!!! David Frost has NOTHING on you.
Ha! Thank you :-D
I tried some bdk samples and, alas, was underwhelmed.

David reminds me Tom Hardy if Tom was French. Thoughts?
