A Xmas list! Thank you! You've inspired me to look for Nez magazine. Roger & Gallet soaps also make nice gifts. The œillet mignardise one is from their original line-up and their best for carnation lovers. Not available everywhere but you can find it in the UK online at the French pharmacy.
I tried Adorem at your recommendation! It’s gorgeous and very intense. I’m hoping to get some of the ingredient focused NEZ books for myself for the holidays!
Love Mandy Aftel’s books. I live in the Bay Area and I’m hoping to visit her Aftel Archive of Curious Scents in December or January. Thank you for the Christmas gift inspiration (eeek I’m not ready).
Loved these suggestions and was pleased to see the Mandy Aftel book and will put on my Christmas list . I bought Le, lion a couple of Christmas,s back for myself and was soon smitten and swooning and very happy it’s on your list again . 😊
Do you know the brand Divine ? It’s a little brand based in Brittany, in Dinard I think. I would be happy to have your opinion about their scents. Thank you very much for your work !
Wonderful recommendations! Happen to be wearing Le Lion today. 😊 I think I need the Mandy Aftel book. Her "Essence and Alchemy" deepened my passion for perfume. +1 on Century of Scents. Regarding the commenter asking about migraine-inducing fragrances, I personally struggle with the overdose of woody ambers. That was my issue with Portrait of Lady and many popular perfumes. Exposure has made it worse. Interestingly, aldehydes used to bother me, and repeated smelling made me crave them. I don't know if there is anything to be learned from that.😂 Regarding Basenotes, I read the forums, but avoid commenting. They can be quite brutal and cliques. I am too sensitive a soul.
With the weather still in the mid 20s over here, i have gifted myself a bottle of Forte Nerolia Vetiver and am giving it its inaugural outing today. P.S. liking the new set up.
Didn’t catch this live, but wanted to chime in to say that Adorem is currently in stock at Luckyscent in case anyone is after it and you live in a country they ship to. No samples, unfortunately, but it’s not too spendy for the 15ml-$39 USD. Adorem is the sole “blind buy” I’ve ever indulged in since I love incense-focused fragrances and had to try it. It’s challenging any won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but so nostalgic and interesting as to be worth having if you also love incense (and wood and patchouli and a bit of pepper and and and…). I don’t have anything else quite like it.
Bonjour monsieur Persolaise👋 Which perfumer from the past and present would you like to interview ? Personally I would like you to interview Pierre Bourdon and Antoine Lie.
Thanks very much for watching. Bourdon would be amazing. I’ve interviewed Lie three times. Here’s one link: persolaise.com/2021/01/antoine-lie-live-interview.html
As a long time Basenoter, so nice to see a shoutout for supporting them here!
We need Basenotes more than ever right now.
The Christmas gift I am buying for myself will be Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velours, my first leather scent!
I love this one! Good choice!
Enjoy it!
I started video. You showed a book. I paused the video, went on Google found the book, bought the book, returned to the video. 🎉❤
I also just googled the book!
That’s great. I hope you love it.

No, I don’t think I do know them. Thanks for the tip.

Ah, the joys of cruel forums. I know what you mean. But any seriously unacceptable behaviour should always be reported.
Thanks for watching.

Thanks for this info - much appreciated.
My scent of the season is Material by Amouage. Any guidance (no pun intended) on when we can talk to you about that house again?
Ha! You can talk to me about them, but I’m not currently reviewing any of their scents.
My son went off to Asia recently, 4711 hand wipes were stashed into his suitcase - he can thank me later 😅
Brilliant!!! 😂
The Jovoy UK website stocks many of the Nez books.
Excellent - good to know. Thank you.

My Christmas Day frag is noir epices by FM.
Just saying!!! Hahha😊
Ha! I hope Santa is reading.
Barely missed it, unfortunately couldn’t send a donation about a fig top 10
Please don’t feel you need to send any more donations. It’ll take me a while to put together that particular list.
Thanks for watching.
