I'm not a boxer, but I've been a subscriber for many years. I was in a few fights in my younger days, but there was no boxing involved ,just punches. I live in Detroit Mi,USA. There's a lot of crime here. I never look for a fight. But if a brawler ever tries to punch me out,I believe I could defend myself using boxing skills. Some skills I've picked up from some of your videos. This video just to me,just explained the basics, like the ABC's of beginner boxing. Good video for someone just starting out.
"The line" is one of his cemented pride and joys. You have to study under him to know what hes talking about. First starting out its more dificult than you think especially while throwing punches: but he DRILLS IT SO MUCH one day youll be goofing around warming up and notice you automatically stand like that.
Spot on as always, Fran. My coach had me throw nothing but straight shots for a year. It still took me ages to nail the straight back hand - proper shoulder roation without over-rotating the rear leg.
Yea. Day 1.. I got hit a lot because I'd move my hands/arms to block punches. I quickly learned that I didn't need to move them very far, and it's good to keep them where they're going to be needed. Day 2 ... Figured out I need to keep my head moving when I'm close to the opponent. Get in and get out. Never just stand there! Good stuff.
Common mistake i see in our club that im always drumming into the lads, is chin goung in air when moving off opponents worl, looking over the gloves. The main reason of many not to do that is, Now your off balance, any counter are lacking power or can be countered more easily. And if your against a pressure fighter, chin up moving backwards will see your heels hit the canvas, you will become stuck and your arse is now on canvas Chin dowm, Heels off
Yes, that head lift is one I was uneasy leaving out, As you say coach, very common and one that can get them in trouble. Thanks for pointing it out, I hope people read down the comments 👌
Brilliant! Thanks Fran. One mistake that I have difficulty with getting out of my system is that I automatically extend my arms when someone punches at me during sparring. Deeply annoying habit to drill out.
Can you throw with the lead hand uppercuts and hooks while moving forward like a jab? But if you throwing anything with the back hand you cannot move while doing so, right? And your work is really helpful thanks a lot.

Do you ever train bare knuckle? Can you make a video about bare knuckle?
Not my area pal, will give it some throught though
Why does it feel weird when my front foot is at 45 degrees
It will do. Not a natural position, you train it to become natural
