This is a guy who has obviously spent his whole adult life training others and has really honed his message to be completely understandable for every beginner. Great work Fran. Really the gold standard of boxing introduction videos.
This is beautiful and I remember practicing these basics when I first started boxing, having good fundamentals is the key to being a good boxer , as I became more advanced I realized that none of the flashy stuff matters, mastering the basics is the most important
I could not agree more, and I never tire of coaching the basics, provides a great platform for the boxer to do all the other 'learning by doing'. Thanks pal 👍
Excellent video, Fran! I send it to all my boxing gym buddies who try hard to destroy the heavy bag with hooks and in the ring get frustrated because they lack basic footwork and simple defense and gasp for air after 1 minute tired by fancy body movements and strong haymakers borrowed from their idol, Canelo.
Thanks Fran, you are one of the best guys around in the sweet science. Now as i am getting older and less athletic than before, to be able to compete with the younger bucks there is only one way that is to go back to basics. This video, is superb!
I'm not using a heavy bag yet, only drills in front of a mirror. I have a question, does drills in gloves give me something? Or should I use it only on pads and bag?
Question. I am left handed but have always felt more comfortable in an orthodox boxing stance, is this ok or should I be forcing myself to fight southpaw? I also play guitar right handed and have been told that it is not that unusual for left-handers to do certain things right handed. What is your experience with the lefties you have taught?
Well I tend to ask either what hand you write with or what hand you throw with. If the answer to either is left then I'd encourage southpaw - there's advantages. However, it wouldn't be something I'd get too demanding about...being comfortable is a big deal.

Thanks so much, really kind of you to say 👍
Looking at that footwork at the end, you must have been the Liverpool disco king back in the day!
MC Hammer learned his moves from Fran :))
If there weren't copyright infringement issues I'd have backed it with a BeeGees track 😀
😂
Mike should have deployed this tactic against Jake Paul, would've confused him at the very least 🤣
Fran never disappoints. This is a no BS zone.

Hey coach, have you done a video where you go over all the punches in just one video?
Not yet, one to think about 👍
@@myboxingcoach oh that’ll would be perfect , I’ll be the first one to click on it when it does drop😂😅

Is your left hand ur fretting or plucking hand?
Mate, you are right handed then!

@@vgusti75 I write with my left, if I pick something up, my left is what I reach with, it is my dominant hand!
Do you watch any UFC? If so, I was wondering your thoughts on Ilia’s Topuria’s boxing skills.
Why no slips? Bad for beginner?
Great video. Thank you.
Video idea wide vs narrow stance
Will give it some thought. Thanks 👍
This was very helpful; thank you!
