After an overnight valve job in the hotel parking lot, the Sick Seconds Camaro (formerly the world's quickest street car) was ready to go for day four of Hot Rod Drag Week at Carolina Dragway, also known as the House of Hook.
With a short braking area we didn't want to risk sending it all the way, but we made a good run that kept us in the lead. Bryant Goldstone made a 6.62 pass later in the day that closed the gap, so the math works out to us needing to make sure that we are within 0.28 seconds or better than Bryant on day five at Darlington Dragway if we want the overall win.
The drive went pretty well, even though we had a silly mistake on the road haha.

Tom, I wanted to say, that your team has done a great job this week covering the Drag and Drive. You're definitely a champion when it comes to these events, and a great driver, never putting yourself in a bad situation.
Day 4 was awesome. The best part was being able to meet and get pictures with you and Steve. We also made it in the beginning of the video. Thanks for everything yall do for the race community.

Makes you realize how awesome these GT500s, Corvettes, Hellcats and others are to make it more than a hundred thousand miles with minimal maintenance and taking a beating on the street. Of course they aren't making the power these cars are but we are in a time of some pretty serious showroom muscle right now.

Seen a ton of these cars coming through Greenville, SC was pretty cool! That 615 cubic inch Camaro was sitting at a red light when I passed them in the opposite direction, and I could feel the vibrations from it at idle even with my Cummins shaking like a diesel.
Literally just woke up to see this.😂

My dads trick with changing springs on leaky valves was always a little bit of transmission fluid sprayed into the intake with fuel turned off and crank it over for 30 seconds. If the spark plugs are wetted with trans fluid the valves will stay stuck to the seats better.

You should add Galot Motorsports Park in Dunn NC to the drag and drive event. The track is heated and cooled to the 330 ft mark. Extremely flat and fast track

When attempting to change a broken valve spring, why don't they bring the piston up to TDC on that cylinder to prevent the valve from falling into the motor? 🤔

Tom, I’m a little late to see this car though I understand you’ve run it before. Can you explain what the black firewall “scoop” device is and what it’s purpose is? In all my years I’ve never seen anything like that. Thank you and congratulations on winning fastest street car.
I take one of the baby sized zip ties and put around my valves after having one of the hise adaptors pop on me and dropping a valve. Then when i get the spring changed i break it off with small needlenose pliers. Just a bit of security after having to pull a head over a stupid spring swap. Doesnt work to change valve seals but im not a broke dick trying to cheap out on a tired engine. If my valve seals are shot it needs a rebuild. If they are dried out it needs gone through anyway and i dont drop junkyard engines in anything im working on. If i cant guarantee my jobs im not doing them.
Tom ask Steve if he used the Hot tub time machine to get his Sunglasses from 1986.
