- doing a valve adjustment on a e7 series mack ai 400 engine.
extra notes:
torque the jam nut to 45 ft lb, not the allen screw. for the valve.
Steps:
1. Rotate engine clockwise facing the front engine to timing mark or to tdc of piston 1 or 6
2 Loosen all jam nuts and adjust the rods for either piston 1 or 6 depending on if the cylinder next to it has the intake valve being able to move. So you would adjust the 1st piston valves if the 2 piston intake valve is able to freely move.
3. Starting from piston 1 you would adjust both valves then move to piston 2 and adjust the intake then
piston 3 adjust the exhaust
piston 4 adjust the intake
piston 5 adjust the exhaust
4. rotate the engine clockwise 360 degrees till you hit the timing mark and start at piston 6. You would essentially do the same thing like piston 1 but backwards i
yeah i dont believe this is the Correct way.. you dont loosen them all up on TDC #1 my question is. when your on 1,6 on flywheel. i only have #1 intake loose and #6 exhaust lose. 1E and 6I are tight.
Is this the same for a MACK AI-375A ASET? Same procedure as this?
That pin is called a timing tab
no wonder there are no comments good or bad............a terrible unplanned , not well thought out video.............if you didn't know how to do this adjustment after watching the video you still wouldn't know...........sorry, just my opinion
