SpaceX - The King Returns 12-26-23

- With a record 19 launches and Landings B1058.19 held the SpaceX record. She was almost home when a strong wind separated her from Octograbber. Octograbber looks fairly beat up. We are a US disabled veteran run, non-profit video production company whose mission is to bring other disabled US Veterans to witness a launch, experience US Space History and become part of our report. Our nonprofit 501(c)(3) is 100% tax deductible, just go to our webpage www.USLaunchReport.com which is merged with www.VeteransSpaceReport.com and find our Donate button. You can help change the life of a US Veteran. Thank You

Why do I feel like hugging B1058 😢19 flights & landings, you did a great job B1058 😢
It never fails to blow my mind just how deceivingly big Falcon boosters really are.
The King is dead! LONG LIVE THE KING!! 🫡
We've been watching this exact booster for almost FOUR YEARS😂 just insane to think about. Thanks for everything 1058!!! o/
It’s heartbreaking to see her gone.. she brought back crewed flights from us soil, set records, and brought back nation pride and intrust to space travel. May she rest in peace.
This is so sad. I was really hoping this booster would end up in a museum at the end of its life. It’s the booster that returned the USA to launching people back in 2020.
It can still go to a museum... better in this state than if it had to be expended to compensate for a bad engine in flight.
@@SierraSierraFoxtrot That's a nice idea. Complete with the octograbber as a 'moment in history'?
Only the wind could take her away.. it wasn’t anything that SpaceX did or that she did. Rest in peace legend
Judging by the position .. I would say that one of the landing legs failed to stay locked.
@@ericmatthews8497 in a announcement, SpaceX said that in rough winds a landing leg failed. Newer boosters have features to prevent this certain thing from happening.
The king lost it's head😢 that's the risk when one lands on water. An amazing launch record for sure.
🫡 rest in power 1058.
Thanks for the video coverage as always
I like this channel so far, no clickbait just truth.
That was good run.
ORBITAL CLASS BOOSTER B1058 "gee whiz, i hope that bill nelson guy puts me in one of his museums now!"
It gave everything, even its life
This happens when you take new paths. Life gives new lessons. We just need to remember to work on the mistakes we have made and move on.
Hopefully they will be able to salvage the engines...
Aww thats too bad. Im sure they will figure out a fix so it doesnt happen again. Shame to end its great record. Thank you for your coverage and happy new year!
They already did a few years ago, but this booster is 3 years old, 19 launches and landings, most of any rocket
@@awesomefeldmanfamily What fix could they do to the booster to prevent it from blowing or falling over despite the octograbber? This event broke the octograbber, so the booster itself was just a victim.
@@antibrevity think they fixed something with the legs.
@@antibrevity newer boosters have improved, self-leveling landing legs
this old girl had the older, simpler legs
@@antibrevity The issue is that if the booster lands heavily on one leg, the strut crushes to absorb the shock but ends up shorter than the other legs. The booster rocks back and forth, and sits at an angle. The robot that secures the booster - the Octagrabber - can't properly latch on to it. So they have developed a system that levels the rocket - perhaps piping gas or hydraulic fluid into the compartment that crushes - so the rocket always stands straight, and can be secured by the Octagrabber.
Space X, the organization, is almost as impressive as their engineering. Elon Musk is so open and transparent about their achievements AND their failures that I am absolutely compelled to cheer and clap.......Even at times like this when a bent up piece of hardware is being moved in full public view.
If you are a kid in school, hit the books hard and earn your place on this team...... *THIS IS A FUTURE WORTH EXPERIENCING!*
That made me sad.
They should be able to salvage the Merlins.
It’s like seeing a fallen soldier. Sad to see.
Rock On!
Amazing.
Amazing video! Thank you!!
You're so welcome!

Pffth... That'll buff right out.
I was going to ask a question, but got my answer by simply reading the description above.
Well done, Champ! You Rocket!
Life Leader... Gone. But not forgotten
SpaceX should stop internet access, BOTH civilian AND military from Starlink in the U.S. AND place ALL SpaceX contracts (including crew dragon) on hold for "safety review" untill the FCC releases the $880+ mil. They owe SpaceX.
She wanted to go on her 20th flight but Mother Earth had other plans. RIP.
F. it was fun while it lasted
I think she was just damn tired.
RIP B1058.19! You were the first private rocket to launch humans into orbit, and continued to launched hundreds of satellites!
Hopefully, SpaceX saves a landing leg or a section of it's tank for display in a museum: a well deserved fate for this veteran booster.
All those guys standing around and no one bothered to pull in the wires dragging behind just waiting to be wrapped around a tugs screw.
The King Fell over and died.
Good bye My dear falcón!!!!😢
Hahaha I always wondered what would happen if not tied down, and it finally happened.
This has also happened with Falcon Heavy’s center core which was also lost at sea while being towed back to Cape Canaveral.
I don't think any effort is being made to recover FH centre cores any more. I suspect their higher re-entry energy leaves them pretty beaten up, and FH customers are prepared to pay for the higher expendable performance.
They must vent any remaining fuel to avoid risk of explosion should something like this happen. They probably have to, as they can't keep it cold.
Ok who was driving when this happened? DId they get into the eggnog too soon? JK RIP B1058 thank you for taking us back to space.
Bring out the bagpipes.
Thank you for the video.
I know it is just a piece of machinery.
I know it is just a tool.
I know that it did yeoman's work.
Ad astra per aspera.
It will be missed.
Peaceful Skies.
pick a part
Save the worm.
i hope spacex has its video of tumbling that would be a viral video
It will buff out….
(rockets are eternal )
It would have been nice if returned undamaged. However, look at it as a learning opportunity to prevent future issues.
Ouch! Yeah, that's not repairable. Still, she did great.
The other half is at the bottom of the ocean?
Please Elon can we keep it?
So it toppled over due to weather during the tow back? They don't get strapped down?
The rocket is secured by a robot that latches onto the hold-down points, and then sits down on the deck. But if the rocket lands at an angle, the robot can't latch on correctly. On this one the crew boarded the vessel at some stage and added a chain, but it wasn't enough - images and videos show this chain had snapped.
So, the other half is lost in the Atlantic?
Which launch mission was this?
6-36
a rookey 🎉
o7
They'll strip everything that still works & reuse it.
We know. ..
'space is back' as in bob behnken and doug hurley
space x has so many f9 booster but why this booster? so sad
😪😪😪😥😥😥
Space who?
Good heavens, people are waxing poetic about a booster. Get a life.
