the pin point landing is almost better technology than the launch, a great achievement.
Truly epic to see this - and in a way they make it look easy and in another way - it looks mad difficult. I'd love to have a split screen with this camera position and one in the opposite position.
I would love to go back in time to late 60’s just to show this video to some folks at NASA, see them shit their pants then come back to 2024. That would make my heart smile.

Even if you jumped 400Km, you wont float away, but come back down, as gravity pulls you down again. To float away (without enter orbit), you need to get out of the eart´s Hill sphere, more than 1 million Kms away.
@@PolluxPavonis ignoring air resistance, like any good physicist or bad engineer, you just need to accelerate radially outwards until you reach escape velocity given as Ve = sqrt(Gm/r) which for earth is about 11.2 km/s a second at surface level. at that point the field strength falls off faster than your acceleration and your total energy (kinetic - potential) is positive - she gone. time to practice my hops.

The amount of failures testing that went into this result were staggering but to learn from failure is what drives science. Amazing in my lifetime I've seen both the first anything in space to this. Bravo

What do you even mean with "past the exosphere"? The atmosphere becomes thinner fluently and you cannot tell where "space" begins anyway. But yes, there are definition for some layers, but the last one that make sense to distinguish is the thermosphere. While the exosphere literally describes the transition to space. Guys, can you just please talk about altitude/distance to earth? Especially the "sceptics" always use terms like "space", "thermosphere", "low earth orbit",... please give me numbers! and what to you even mean with "we can't get there"? Humans? Because in general (so without humans) we go way beyond low earth orbit and (depending on the definition) beyond the exosphere all the time. TV satellites beyond the exososphere.
