Quick POV pull in my tuned 1999 Toyota Solara V6

- just got done with some intake and fuel system cleaning. gave it a little rip down this hill and it genuinely impressed me; especially since it was almost 90 degrees outside.
I hope Toyota would bring the Solara back once again,
This time, it packs better specs:
-3.5L DOHC V6 Dual-VVTi 306 HP
-8spd automatic with paddle shifters
-new 2+2 layout
-be available with a hybrid too (a 2.5L HEV with 290 HP combined)
-be also available with a convertible trim
and be a reasonable alternative to the Lexus RC and Lexus LC
as cool as that would be, there really isnt a huge market demand for a car like that :( especially since the new toyota crown is in the us market now... solara probably aint coming back. but hey anything is possible, maybe we will have luck with the lexus is lineup.... or we will just make all the old solaras cool lol
You forgot to add a beefy 6 speed manual option so we don't miss out on it either lol

Is this a factory manual transmission? I picked up one of these about a month ago and It’s been a good car so far. it’s got a good amount of power, I just wish it was standard. I don’t know if it’d be worth it to swap since it’s my daily for now. But I feel like I’d have way more fun in a manual
Yes, a few of the first gen solaras came with a manual as a dealer option only. In my opinion, the swap would only be necessary if you could find both an e153 manual tranny and a manual solara ecu (extremely rare to find). But yeah the manuals are definitely faster and more fuel efficient than the automatic, but for the amount of money required to do a full swap, i would just stick to keeping the auto in there unless you have the resources to practically do a swap.

I got a 2000 solara , any ideas on what mods to do to make it a little faster ? Nothing crazy just a little more power mint car and only got 90K so I wanna add some

assuming you have the v6, there's a couple things you can do too it like an intake an exhaust, but those mods will be less effective if its an automatic transmission, if you have the 4 banger (whether it be the 2az or 5sfe) there's literally nothing you can do except maintenance lol. its more of a matter of keeping the engine running closest to factory specs at that point.

Depends on what your goals are and how much youre willing to put into it.... Its espically harder on the newer solaras because of the locked ecu, and no one knows how to work on them
First make sure the trans , engine is running then worry about mods like. Well u kno🤷🏽♂️

Don't worry about the trim of the solara, your focus is supposed to be on the engine itself. Either you have the V6 engine which is the 1MZ-FE or the 4 cylinder engine which is the 2AZ-FE.

Its doin good! My shift cable recently broke so i had no even gears lol. Had to take a brief break from solara content but i just fixed it today and its back driving as good as it should. I do have something cool in the works though and ill upload it hopefully by the following weekend 👀
