Toyota really dropped the ball on the solara by not making them rwd

Did you scrape the block surfaces without plugging the oil passages? That could have caused the bearing to spin

Definitely is man . I just bought a 4 cylinder 2001 solara for 3650 . They’re getting harder and harder to find and when they are put up they go quick and are either beat up or priced crazy . Wish I coulda found a decent one with the v6 but with gas prices I can’t complain
On paper the 3mz cams should have shifted the power band by 400 or 500 rpm. What kind of boost were you making when it failed? Any comments since the 3mz swap and did you upgrade the rods and pistons?
It was on 7psi I believe but it’s been running strong on the 3mz. But it’s still stock internals so no upgrades on pistons or rods. I think it’s gonna be left at low psi and if real power wants to be made, 2gr is the way to go💪
@@DavidTRD 2gr has serious airflow. There was a 500+who write up on one with 14:1 compression, custom sheet metal intake, custom cams winding up to 9000+rpm. And you could always keep it simple and make the 300whp and 265wtq on a stock motor custom tune.
@@DavidTRD Stock head bolts and head gaskets too?
Basically 2gr has 299cfm@.450" lift stock, the 1mz/3mz has 264cfm@.450", many can port the 1mz/3mz heads to do 300cfm@.450" with 35mm intake valves and you should. It's worth 20-30HP on a naturally aspirated application.

We run spilt second or greddy emanage to tune with. We also run a lot of custom fab parts as well.

Yeah a bunch but have gotten to filming or edits. Gonna get back in my grind💪 to give a mini update the car was sold and crashed but it’s getting fixed

ive been watching a bunch of these types of videos and every single one of the engines have thrown a rod. these engines are terrible and should just be left stock.
