Just got this watch yesterday. I love it very much. Quality wise its above par. The rubber strap is very smooth and comfortable. This watch is gonna see a lot of wrist time eventhough i have other expensive watches.
I love Orient. Amazing value and beautiful watches. Build quality is usually impeccable too. I modded my blue Ray II with a double domed sapphire crystal, a coin-edge bezel, and a fully loomed sapphire bezel insert. I picked up a Strapcode bracelet for it too. I really couldn't be happier with the watch. Very reliable movement as well. I've had it over a year now and it consistently runs at +4 seconds a day.
My Mako XL has been my “go to” non-work watch a lot lately and I really am looking forward to getting a Kamasu as well as a Kano. Orient just makes a great looking watch and they are so super value driven. Very much in love with Orient.
Sapphire is a must for me now. I have several Seiko's with hardlex, no issues at all, but when I picked up a Sumo, I noticed a scratch on the crystal within only a few days of wear. For that reason, I rarely wear it now.
Aron you convinced me on the Kano, but I like the 42mm to 44mm watches. It was already gone on the shopping in Japan so I ordered from Amazon. Can't wait to get it.
I know the blue and red dial versions have a sunburst effect - does the black dial have this as well? I can't see it in any of the photos or videos online
I have this watch, not JDM, but through Long Island Watch, trust Marc, I think it doesn't get it's do compared to the Kamasu and Orient Mako USAII. Sure I would prefer sapphire, but honestly not rough on my watches, it's nice to go larger if needed. Mine came on Bracelet. Off the three for no apparent reason it's the least worn of my newer Orients. Have in Blue dial. I won't change my crystal but if some reason it broke, I'd replace it with sapphire.
Nice piece Orient did really well on this one.I would have made it 42 mm it’s a more universal size but I’m a big guy so I am sure 44mm will work for me. I own a Seiko Shogun and that’s pretty close to 44mm. Really well done Orient !
Aron Dunlap-OFD Watch Channel has it a week now and I gotta say that this is a really solid watch with really nothing to gripe about at all. My second orient (blue mako ii being my first) and definitely a fan of the brand.
These are almost the same price as Kamasu, so what would make this a better purchase? It lacks sapphire, it’s larger size, and the Kamasu seems better designed except for the yelowish lume (not sure if this is the same)
Nothing makes it better. It's preference really. I recently upgraded this to a Domed ar sapphire crystal. Makes it way nicer. I've reviewed the Kamasu here on the channel also. Excellent watch!! Cheers 😎👍
@@OFD What's your impression and preference from handling the two? It seems to me the Kano is more legible, and has a unique Tudor like look. Not sure about the feel on wrist compared to the Kamasu. Hard to make a decision without seeing the two in person and handling them. Thanks
Are you sure it's 47mm lug to lug? It looks so much bigger. Ps: on Orientwatchusa website it says 'Lug-to-Lug Length: 50.5 mm'. Almost the same as the Black Bay.
should I get the red bezel or the black bezel? Im having a hard time deciding. Im just new to watch collecting. I have the skx pepsi dial.. Im leaning in the red a little bit but black is more basic color for a diver. thank you.
Love that colour configuration, espec on a Blackbay like yours... however, to avoid divorce (how many expensive watches does one need anyway?) but to have something that arguably can give me the same feel, I ordered a Neymar. NH35, 41.5 mm, 300 WR, slightly domed sapphire, metal bracelet and in the same colours. Don't get me wrong, that Orient looks great, but I like the Neymar's diametre better for my 7" wrist. And it seems to have better specs for about the same price.
Please tell me this isn't as big or bigger then then macos and stuff? I have girly tiny wrists and love this the most and really want an orient but does it for like a 40?
Having 8 inch wrists, the Ray 2/ Mako2 just aren't big enough for my taste. I ordered the Mako XL, should be here tomorrow. I'll probably order the Kano as well, and return the one I don't like as much. Like you said, the Kano seems to be a newer version of the Mako XL in many ways.
Great size, love the new design, very readable dial, love the minute hand, great sword tip, love they made it more edgy, great brushed and polished!! Thanks Aron for a great review! I will definitly check this watch out, love the red bezel also!👍🏻🤩🤩
Thank you Torben for tuning in!!! Orient is on the mark with recent releases!! Can't complain about the direction in which Epson is taking the brand! Cheers buddy 😁👍🙌
I had a ray 2, loved it dearly couldn't take it off my wrist despite owning 8 watches. However! A glass supermarket gate closed on me and hit the mineral glass, the scratch was so bad i had to claim it via the supermarket. Lesson - never buy mineral glass again. Im now searching for an alternative as i love orient divers such sexy great value lookers. Very disappointed this one has mineral crystal.... I think il have to go for a kamasu.
@@OFD Are these Japanese made ones better quality? Sorry for all the questions. I did like that you said the lume lasts all night. That is important cause I have to be able to tell the time at 3 a.m in the morning. 🙂
I have a 44mm Seagull Ocean Star which has a 28800bph movement Sapphire and a solid bracelet, milled clasp. 13mm high. Out specs this Orient watch by far.
I honestly don't understand why would Orient make it in 44mm in 2019. Such a good looking design, in my opinion their best dive watch design to date, and yet with its dimensions, irrelevant for me and I would say most potential buyers.
Nonsense. Now days watches are bigger, especially dive watches. Orient will have a tough time keeping them in stock, especially this Kano with the red bezel.
Orient doesnt seem to do valid market research before coming out with many of their new models. Attractive? Yes. But 44mm diameter and a mineral crystal just ruin it.
I don’t mind the size that much, but I mind the lack of a sapphire crystal and a proper bracelet. I have a 6 3/4” wrist, but still wearing my Planet Ocean 8900 without any issue.
Rolex has gone 42mm on most modern SS sports watches. Breitling is trending 44(with the specials). I understand the sentiment, but i think these watches look great, even on my 7 inch wrist. Cheers, and thank you for tuning in!!😎👍🙏
Signed Crown. Running -1.9 seconds per day. Actually on par with the Tudor 😎👍
I’ve been eyeing this one. As I was looking at it online my girlfriend says “That looks like that red Tudor” ....I nearly fainted from love haha
She's right
If only it was a little bit smaller.

I've been a fan for years. Very nice watches for the money. It's ridiculous what you can get a mako or ray 2 for these day!! Cheers buddy 😎👍

For me, I love that red colour especially when the day is also in red. And being JDM (and so having a Kanji option) sweetens the deal too.
I felt the same way about the JDM/Red😎👍
Half the cost of the Monster, good choice for daily wear.
You know it McMahon!!😁👍
I love it, particularly the red colour - just going to order it now. It looks better than your tudor (imho). Thanks.
Nice review Aron and cool offering from Orient. 44mm size looks great on your wrist. Glad to hear you tried it on one of our straps too!
I wish this would come out in a 40mm
even 42mm and i would snatch it up. too big at 44

Awesome!! Glad you found it on Amazon 😎👍 My favorite Orient purchase. Like this better than the Triton!
Great review! Comprehensive and well laid out which helps potential buyers like myself!
Thx for the video 👍 just can't choose between this kano or the (Neptune lite) RA-AC0K01B10B which is just a little more expensive 🤔

Receiving this bad boy this week and really looking forward to it. Enjoyed your vid.

Just bought one today amazon uk £153.00 ,and I was looking for a present for the wife.44 mil case will fit great on my 7.5 inch wrist.
Looks like one of the Tudor's Black Bay Heritage.

Classic black. Works with everything 😎👍JMHO🤙
Hello what is the wrist size. Does it fit on a 20 cm wrist?
Hi, thx for the video, would you say this wears bigger than the casio duro since that's on the limit for my 7.4 inch wrist
would this one look normal on my 6.7'' wrist?
Great watch and pairs up nice with your Tudor. Cheers 👍👍
Yeah, I'm hooked on the burgundy 😎👍🍷 Have a great week buddy!!

Look at the Kamasu at 41.5mm. This will feel big to you at 44mm.
is the bezel completely useless without the second markers on it?

reminds me of the casio duro but way better
Does the day display have an alternate language in addition to kanji?
Yes, English 😁👍
Looks like a winner, although I'd pronounce it Kay-no (like the character from Mortal Kombat). Anyway, great vid
I like that!! Cheers 😎👍🙏
Great watch.
Thank you.
You've seen one diver watch , you've seen them all.
Yeah, you're actually right. And I'm still nuts for a dive watch 🤣🤣👍 Cheers Man!
Can't get enough of them !
while gorgeous this red kano is, the black bezel one is the coolest in my opinion😎 give vibes of tudor pelagos
The black is very nice Dave!!😎👍👍

Shopping in Japan is closed till August 20th for renovations . Lol 😁
They must be finding more great watches!!😁👍👊
anyone else got this watch and feel like the crown is little wobbly when you pull it all the way out to adjust time ?
Glass safir?
No. But I upgraded to Sapphire myself 😊🤙
Is there a particular reason you like shopping there?
I've always had excellent service and incredibly fast, secure shipping.

The dial looks mis aligned a lot at 30
Its the video. No Alignment issues whatsoever. Plus i had the bezel off a couple clicks through much of the video 😎👍
Nice review, my Orient is the reason I don’t own a Seiko Diver.
They are excellent watches. Your recent upgrades took yours to the next level!!😎👍
Yes it did, Thanks
Yep nice but too big. If they came out with the same model but 40-41 mm I would buy for sure
What is that model name?
Orient Kano
@@OFD ok thanks men
No Sapphire no buy :/ looks good though
I hear you. I grew up with Hardlex, so I'm ok with it. Cheers 😎👍👊
Anderl was willst für 150€ (zZt bei Amazon) eigentlich?
Sind wir a bisserl unverschämt 🤔?

Needs a sapphire crystal!!!
For what??
I hope Orient would considering produce 40mm Kano. I'd really like the watch but 44mm is way bigger than my wrist.
Day date??? Why???
nice watch... i like the red cheers
Cheers buddy 😎👍
Good job, excellent Watch, i was thinking buy one, but at the end I found a very pricy Orient M Force instead
Two years ago I bought an M Force Beast...still my favorite watch and absolutely worth the money for the features it has.

Japanese document of surrender as background when reviewing Japanese watch; you are not making any points with the SHOGUN!

Sapphire crystal ?
Not factory. I have since installed a domed AR coated sapphire crystal 😎👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣for $169...
luv this watch but its too big
Not bigger than a Seiko Turtle or rather compareable to such a piece.
Stopped watching after 2.21. 44m, cannot understand why so many watch manufacturers make such huge watches. What's wrong with 40mm?
I really don't understand the 44mm to be honest
Sorry doesn't look good in your wrist 😄😄
