Thanks Mal. Hope you manage to find the one that's right for you. I'm certainly enjoying having this one, it's staying in the collection that's for sure.
Thanks bro. I think size wise this one is OK for 7" & above but I guess that depends on what your own personal preferences are. But yes definitely a banger. 👍👍
I’m sold. Awesome watch! Mineral isn’t as big of a deal at this prospect. Looking forward to the head to head! Those straps really compliment the Orient!!! Very thorough review. I am surprised you didn’t have more negatives. Must be a great watch!
Thanks mate. The lack of negatives was the reason for me going in front of the camera at the beginning this one definitely caught me off guard haha The head to head I think could be interesting putting it up against my favourite diver the samurai which is essentially twice the price but is it twice as good???
I've had mine about four years now and it runs like a top. I bought my first Orient from Long Island Watch after seeing Marc's review. It was the original Neptune, now discontinued, powered by the same movement found in their Pro Saturation Diver at the time which was a 1500 dollar watch. The Neptune was around 400 - 450 dollars. I own four now, great watches!
Thanks Bob, yes I can't actually believe its taken me so long to get one, but now that I have I'm really enjoying it. So I can't really call this a review, more of a show & tell haha
I'm sure you've said to me in the past that I should get an Orient, well it took m long enough haha but I'm very impressed so far. Thanks for watching.PK 👍
Wow just watched this review. Now I just bought the watch. I own the ray 2 but I love the bezel and larger size of the Kano. Cannot wait to get it and simpy love your enthusiatic review with great closeups and commentary!
Nice review, man. That particular model was given to me as a birthday gift recently and I love them: their size, their colour scheme (I'm a sucker for orange and its combination with dark blue) and overall feel. Even the strap is great.
“Love marks” are earned, not discounted! 😂 Great looking Orient…I can see why you’ve been wearing it nonstop. Love it on the orange strap and the blue and orange NATO!
Thats a great point 👍 this has been getting a disproportionate amount of wrist time & it absolutely is a strap monster. Thanks for watching man appreciate it 👍👍
I've got the black dial/burgundy bezel version (kind of reminiscent of a Tudor Black Bay). It's a fine watch. The Kanno fills the niche of the discontinued Mako XL, also an excellent watch.
Thank you glad you enjoyed the video, it is a bit on the larger side & I get that it's not for everyone. It's stable mate the Kamasu is a bit smaller & I hope to be getting one in at some point for a side by side comparison.
I bought one of these as sort of “beater”/water sports watch- but I gotta say it’s really impressive. The rubber band is super comfortable and the watch is very rugged and good looking for $150. I’m a huge fan of Orient- and put them ahead of Seiko and Citizen- feels a bit more special for this $$$ and not just a department store watch
I think the size might be off putting for some - me included, especially when they make a similarly priced mako and raven. But its still seriously cool and I think they should have made those in similar colours to this. Would be way more fun. The quality and build looks solid as does the lume. I'm impressed. Nicely done mate
Yes I think the Mako ll or the Kamasu is the better option for those with smaller wrists I would say this one would be great for anyone with 7" or above. The quality/build etc is as good as any seiko diver I've got, I will be getting more from Orient that's for sure. Thanks for watching mate.
@@somewhereintimewatchreviews I have very thin wrists, close to 5 and yet I bought The kano and it perfectly fits after bracelt adjustment ofcourse. The larger dial is actually jot that large in the hand. Its wears better than the Kamasu in the wrist and its distinctively heavier, so even if you not noticing the watch will keep reminding you thats its there.
I agree the white dial is very nice looks very crisp, this is one of those watches whichever colour someone would choose that I can definitely recommend the overall quality/price ratio is spot on.
I loves me Kanno!! I have to say, I haven't had any real issues with the mineral crystals either. Maybe if I were a stuntman or SAS Super Army Soldier 🤣🤣.I find I'm pretty easy on my watches.
Haha yes any of those occupations or passtimes & a G shock is much more appropriate 😄 I actually think that us reviewer types are partly to blame for the "all hail the sapphire crystal" thing😂 sure sapphire is great but not the be all & end all.
I have Burgundie, and 5s per day is different, that is about price range 2000 dollar, for automatic, Seiko from latte 90 have bad whatch in that price range as Orient Kano, Seiko Pressage cocktail time baby blue with down day, for me is most elegant and Kano sport whatch, estetic is very subjekt, Kamatcu have little crown and in first ring there orange blue in Kamatsu have some line outside ring like bottle cap.
Well I’m definitely wishing I had bid on that now,…. But then I would have felt bad once I found out who I was bidding against in the end 😂🤦♂️ Happy with the Spinnaker I bought instead tho! 👌😎
Haha its all good mate. Its definitely taken me by surprise as to how much wrist time it's been getting. Good to hear you're enjoying your new Spinnaker it's a very cool watch. Thanks for watching .👍
The Kano was my first automatic watch,it has that slight likeness to the Black baby red, great lume, good size for my 7" wrist(you know you're wearing it" but it's amazing, great movement, great bezel action, the only thing it missed out on is the sapphire and to be honest mah! Big deal😂 great watch. Set the bar for every divier I've bought since😎👍
Thats good to hear & you're the second person that's mentioned the slight likeness to the BB red bezel in the Kano with the same colours, I think it would be a great alternative for anyone not wanting to drop 3k on a BB. Thanks for watching.
ALERT: Long rant below! I got this one in June as a 50th birthday bonus present for my brother just from me (a bunch of us had scrambled money for a hand built bass from an instrument maker in USA, but I felt he needed a good watch as well lol). He's been avoiding non titanium watches because of allergy, but I've always thought that applied rather to cheap metal than pure stainless steel (like 316L and similar quality). We had a discussion about it and he borrowed a watch from me to test out if he got any allergic reactions. And as I assumed, he didn't. He's also only ever worn quartz watches (sacrilège!!), so I thought it was time for him to get a nice Japanese automatic. Funny thing is I have broomstick wrists, and my kid brother always had gorilla dittos lol. The 42.5mm watch I lend him looked hilariously small. So, I was looking out for nice ~44mm dive watches. Orient felt like an excellent choice with great value as I love my Kamasu, but was about to give up since I only found typical ~42mm models. Then suddenly this model came up in a video from Marc at LIW. Was totally unaware of it before, but instantly looked out for places to purchase. Our regional Amazon in my country had it with one model available only: Black dial, burgundy red bezel and rubber strap, and since that was the way, way best deal I went for it. Looked great to me, and most importantly: So thought my brother, and he was very happy with the gift. Thankfully the rubber strap was good and comfortable (compared to e.g. the SKX stiff ones), and only slight nitpick compared to my Kamasu would maybe be lack of sapphire, but the sapphire hype is overrated anyways lol. It's a truly great watch, and IMHO Orient has taken the value spot Seiko once had. Saying that as still a Seiko fan lol. This is the first video since Marc's that at least I've managed to watch on the Kano, but only confirms to me it was a great purchase as a gift. Excellent review video as usual, mate. OK, rant's FINILLY over now lol.
Thats not a rant mate that's a pretty cool story & gives context to how/why etc that you got one. This is my first Orient as I mentioned but sure won't be my last, I think I have to agree with you that Orient have taken Seiko's crown especially when it comes to affordable divers. I mean even some of the 5kx Seiko's can be twice the price of the Kano & with "only" 100m W/R. Glad your brother is enjoying his Orient. Also a hand made bass also sounds awesome.👍 Thanks for watching & for the back story....👍👍
@@somewhereintimewatchreviews First of all, that bloody hand built bass just plays it self. It's simply ridiculous. I thought my 30+ years old Yamaha bass (wich was quite expensive new in the 80s) was great, but this is another level. But I digress! Thanks for the video. Mineral crystal isn't an issue but the size is 44mm with a 50+mm lug to lug, is just a tad too big even for my 7.4 inch wrist, kamasu on the other hand is somewhat undersized and looks to dressy for me.
Yes this one is definitely for the larger wrist. I agree with your thoughts on the Kamasu nice watch but a bit on the dressy side. Thanks for watching.
looks great, reasonable dimensions....I did like the red dial variant more....the crystal isn't a deal breaker but sapphire would definitely be preferred....simple mod so all good....🏴⌚🏴⌚
