  • Be careful what you read, what you retain, and what you apply to your own cars and projects when reading all of the nonsense online. It’s for your own good.

    Good morning. Bravo my friend. This is a classy, gentleman response to all these trolls and incompetent folks that are on all the net platforms. These cowards should crawl back in their holes. Thank you for this video.

    I know this is a older video but I had to let you know. I couldn't have said it any better. Really appreciate your cfi videos, they probably have saved a few from being hacked to pieces.

    Unfortunately there are alot of “know it alls” that think they know what is best. If I get asked a question I tell them my experience and any advice to try to help and not to try to impose my own opinion on others. I definitely try to help young guys because they can easily be strayed away from the truth. UA-cam has become a wasteland of bs especially in the subject of automotive knowledge.

    If you want a good drinking game, post a question about crossfire and take a drink for every comment that tells you to ditch the crossfire and put on a carb.

    you are so right. I have an 84 cross fire Vette and have gotten so much B S advise it's unbelievable. Mind you I have been building and racing cars boats and motorcycles for over 50 years. I am just new to crossfire. At least I was 4 years ago when I bought the car. Thanks for this one.

    That’s the thing about Facebook vs UA-cam comment sections usually. Facebook is not supportive generally, but in the UA-cam comments, you can almost always find support and answers.

    Man am I glad to see this video! Recently purchased the shop manual to my 82 Z28 CFI from rockauto. I just had the engine rebuilt and now I'm preparing to put it back in the car and get it running eventually. Thanks for the video and your time!

    I will be keeping my CFI for the time being. Perhaps down the road. I do however like the idea with the revised setup. Seems the like throttle body balancing device will no longer be needed.

    • @Joesmusclecargarage
      @Joesmusclecargarage  Рік тому +1

      Correct. With one throttle body, there is nothing to balance. I’m hanging on to the CFI stuff though. If I ever decide to get rid of the car, it’ll be in the trunk. The new owner can do what they want with it. To most people that don’t understand the system, CFI is unfortunately a deterrent when selling a car and does nothing to increase the value.

    Good rant, it needed to be said.

    “That’s not what the kid asked!” 👍I hate that, thirty eight wasted comments that didn’t answer the kid’s question! Analogously to the twenty minute dissertation for a twenty second answer.

    There's a guy that does gmrs radio videos, he plays into the "experts" quite well. Very funny and good information.
    I find facebook groups useless for information about technical work. I'd much rather listen to youtube guys like you.

      Yeah I don’t mind humor, as long there is overall education. I’m not by any means a stuffy old man with no sense of humor. I’m 42 going on 12 half the time. The facebook stuff really gets me. I followed pages to see cars and builds. The nonsense made it absolutely not worth it.

    Hi Joe, I need a little help. I'm putting a retro roller cam in my stock rebuilt 82 corvette. Choices are. Howard 110225-12, 110315-12 or Melling 22135. My heads are 165cc and 72cc cambers. they are new summit cast irons. Do you think my crossfire will run on the 8746 computer with no other modifications or is the computer programable. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Your right, forum feedback can be misleading. Your times valuable to so if you can't reply I understand. Your videos have already given me a wealth of crossfire knowledge. Thank You for that.

    • @Joesmusclecargarage
      @Joesmusclecargarage  Рік тому +1

      Your best bet would be the 22135, simply because of the LSA. With a TBI ECM, you want to stay around a 112 or higher LSA. The @ .050 looks good as well. The 8746 should run just fine with that cam as long as you run an L05 PROM. You’ll probably need to run a few extra degrees of base timing to keep manifold vacuum up, as well as bump your FP up if you haven’t already done so.

      Hi Joe. Thanks so much for the quick reply. Thats what I needed a push In the right direction. This car special to me. It belonged to my late brother. Big help👍🏻. I’ll give you an update when running for sure. Great video’s.Keep them coming. Thanks again.

    Joe, glad to hear that the single TBI has improved the driveability. I've offen contemplate doing the same swap to my 82 Corvette for the same reasons. However how's the car's performance with the single TBI as to compared to the CFI setup. Right now my car runs a 14.752 in the 1/4 mile and don't want to give that up.
    On your rant, I feel your pain. I'm on several forums and they are toxic places. Very few people respond with actual experience and more of a "copy and paste" sort of answer. You gotta love how other people would spend your money too.

    • @Joesmusclecargarage
      @Joesmusclecargarage  Рік тому +2

      As far as performance goes, it’s a night and day difference. The single TBI will outrun the CFI like it’s chained to a tree. Not at all hating on CFI, but the difference is night and day. The stock single TBI manifold outflows a ported CFI

      They’re excellent carbs. There are guys running Quadrajets into the 8s. Same with Thermoquads. Excellent carbs and almost infinitely tuneable.
