I own 3 vehicles, a first generation silverado like yours, an 84 corvette, and a 2009 jeep wrangler. The wrangler has a stupid diagnostic system, however it is still relatively old enough I can buy and replace things relatively easy enough. The corvette is always causing me problems, not because its complex but because it's been neglected so many years. And the silverado which just won't give it, the engine has burnt seals and a knock, the frame is almost rusted in half and the body looks terrible, but it just keeps going, and it is very friendly to work on. I will absolutely buy another or put money into my truck simply because it is maintenance friendly. I want to either overhual the existing components or swap around engines and transmissions in the corvette and just daily drive it during the warm months. And the jeep I am just trying to keep nice. I am skeptical to buy newer cars because of the costs, about the only new car I would buy would be a Toyota, simply because they are built to last.

I’m with you 100%. My daily driver is an 89’ 5.0 SSP car. I love it as a daily. I have a 9 second 87’ Grand National that I road trip cross country a couple times a year. I have a 71’ corvette that runs mid 10s, iron headed big block with a carb and a T400, I’ve driven it cross country twice..
If the cars are built well, properly maintained, and you are handy with a wrench, you can drive them like modern cars…..

Exactly. Stay on top of them and there’s no reason they can’t see daily duty. I go between my 89 Mustang and my 67 Chevelle
