In this Surface604 Werk review, we tested this electric bike’s handling, climbing, battery life and more to get an idea of how it performs in the real world.
The Surface604 Werk is a classic electric commuter with a utilitarian bend thanks to its sturdy welded rear rack. It ships as a Class 2 e-bike with a throttle and 500W Bafang Motor limited to 20 mph. It also boasts a 9-speed drivetrain and, most notably, a torque sensor that does a great job mimicking a rider’s pedaling.
In our opinion, if you have a few extra hundred dollars to spend in your e-bike budget then considering bikes with torque sensors like the Surface604 Werk is a good idea. The word of the day for this bike was "responsive," and that's thanks to the fact that the motor gives you more measured assistance based on your input.
The Surface604 Werk performed very well in our testing, and if you’re in the market for a slightly higher-end yet still affordable electric commuter, it’s absolutely worth a look.

I would love to see you review the Rize RX. I have last years model (2021) and I love it. Mid-drive M620 Bafang motor, 1000 watts, I would like to see how it does on your test hill, which I have so far failed to find via Google maps. Is it in St. George? I am a recreational rider only, to answer your question.
It's in Washington, UT. Would love to review the Rize. Hopefully we can make it work in 2022. It always helps when people send messages to the brands asking for us to review their stuff. It goes a long way towards helping us get in their products.

I just looked through all your bike videos and I have to ask....what do you have against Luna Cycles in California. Their EMTB x1 and x2 blow most other EMTB out of the water and a site like yours not reviewing them is doing a disservice to people. Come on.
Hi Larry, We don't have anything against Luna Cycles. We just can't review a bike we haven't gotten our hands on yet :) Hopefully that's one we can get in one day.
Bike as tested $2899,00. Does your tester not know we can hear the motor slowing down, he didn't mention the slowest speed but I' guessing it was about 5-6 mph which is far more than his statement about slowing a bit. I really like the tests you run but the commentary also seems to cover what the performance really was.
