I love the dash = 3rd person concept. I think anytime something "cool" or significant happening, that is when people would most value their fancy skins and increased environmental awareness. Apex, for example, does this on finishers, resing teammates, emotes, valk ult, tridents and other times the gun is put away. I think it should also be extended to octane pads and other mechanics where your shooting spread is so wide it is ineffective. If your game implements any kind of hand to hand combat beyond a basic melee, I'd recommend that has to be 3rd person view for awareness reasons. I compare MGS4 Final Boss fight/God of War/Mortal Combat/Dishonoured versus CyberPunk 2077/Apex hand to hand fights and find the former much more enjoyable. I know Apex got rid of some of the 3rd person peeking during emotes. Maybe there is a way to only show people who would appear in 1st person while in a 3rd person mode. Complicated I'm sure. Anyway, Keep Up the Development and Updates please!!

BUT. 3rd lets you see your injuries, states, clothing dirt and damage. TLDR - 1st person drags you closer to fight - 3rd drags you to life of the character and his interactions in the world
Funnilly enough we decided to change the direction of the game to third person. I'm working on an update for this and would love your feedback if you're interested in testing it!
It is insanely fun lol ngl. Played some warzone the other day. Was interesting to say in the least lol. It wasn't too bad but the movement was absolute cheeks xD
Third person shooters are better. My proof is the uncharted series, watching my brother play online was cinematic. Further proof is lost planet 2 online pvp & when unreal championship went from 1st to 3rd person in the sequel
I agree. Uncharted multiplayer is still the king of 3rd person shooters and it's depressing that no other developer has come close to matching it and ND seems to have given up on MP. Like, I don't get it, all the evidence that we need that 3rd person is better is right there and hardly anyone wants to carry the torch.
1st person= Sniper shooter, 3rd person = machine gunner. Same as driving games, Hood/cockpit view = simulation, aerial view = arcade. Arcade games tend to sell more over simulation. So it all depends what type of gamer you are
I prefer 3rd person because of creativity immersiveness and the world building, to sag 3rd person isn't competitive is kinda weird to me either or can be fun and just as competitive fps games are just too much straining imo
I think for me I generally prefer 3rd person for one reason and one reason only, I get a lot less tunnel vision in 3rd person, I'm way more aware of my surroundings and the situation so I'm more likely to play a little more skilled with more mindful strategy
How much fov do you use in first person, maybe its too low (I tend to use 100 or 110 to not get tunnel vision), but at the same time to much fov can look annoying or even nauseating for some people, so yeah, its a matter of preference.
@@MegaMcJacob Np man! Just a head up New world is actually on sale for half off so right now would be the time to get it! And thank you so much for watching! :D
easy fix: plan for both, and start with 3rd person for wider reach. When the game is popular (and has 1st person) competition organizers can make it mandatory to use 1st person only. Which can be easily checked/enforced.
@@jonei I wouldn't swish either , Its like bagging to lose 50-70 of the players coming for one thing and then the complete game feel will be different after a big patch
All your points for tps were cosmetic or dampened the experience for the actual people who will most likely stick with your game... while all your points for fps seemed to be game play oriented like sorry but imo immersion is the most important thing to any game as well, i dont play games to be immersed or for very specific mechanics so if your games just shooting or just combat or roaming around than imo it has to be fps but if its a pokemon like game, a platformer or made for kids in general than tps is usually better and ofc micing the povs to flip expectations on their head can be good to but on average fps is just always gonna be beter for a shooter.
For me personally, I see first person as player driven, such as half life, halo, og cods. While third person is more character driven. Both work well with proper gameplay mechanics for multiplayer.
No, it is not easier for development, lol, its significantly more work, your animations have to look better, the camera setup is more complex and has to interact with the environment and you need to used different animations for your ai and players
Not sure about the impact of SOCOM but you say what TPS impacted the most Gears of War come to mind, and CoD was created by ex-Medal of Honor devs after EA betraying them. I want to like third person shooters but it always feels wrong. Melee feels completely fine but with shooting it's almost like my inner ear doesn't know what to do (which is odd because I don't get sea sick or vr sickness)
3rd person shooters are kids games! running around like watching chickens being feed end of story. I guess if you have grown up playing kids games then it is what you are used to, but if you can't play in FP then you must struggle in real life.
@@jonei Why would I be joking about about it, as I said they are just kids games, when you grow up you play games that are more realistic so that means first person, I am not saying they are not good games because I know a lot of them are, but why make them look like kids games instead of realistic.
@oldgamer1330 Art style has nothing to do with whether or not a game is for kids... What you are saying is akin to saying Attack on Titan is a kid show because it's "a cartoon." Just because a game has realistic graphics doesn't mean it's for adults. It's the content that matters, not the art style. As far as perspective goes. Is gear of war a kids game? Clearly not. Unless you call using a chainsaw to cut someone in half with blood splatter everywhere a kid friendly game, lol... The same can be said for the first descendant. It's clearly not a kids' game either. Also, some people literally get sick from playing either perspective. They can't control that, and that does not make them a child. You really should take a close look at your values and get off your high horse before looking down on people just because they may or may not enjoy the same type of game as you. Side note. If every single game was realistic shit would get boring extremely quickly. Hades, elden ring, naraka bladepoint, and many other games have fantastic art styles that give those games such incredible character and memorable feel. If you can't see that, then that sounds like a you problem.

When I was a little boy I used to push cars around on the ground, then when I got a bit bigger I to be in the cars so I used to ride Peddle cars then when I got older I got go karts and then I started driving real cars. It's called growing up and some people still just want to push their cars around on the ground, just like they play driving sims in 3rd person because they have not grown out of that yet, so because of all these kids that have not grown up there is a reason for game co's to keep making games to play from on the ground like little kids. We play these games to simulate real life, but there is nothing real life about using 3rd person.
