- Restoration of a really beautiful early post-Suwa - potentially one like my "Hong Kong Suwa" which was assembled in Hong Kong with Japanese-made parts during the transition.
PSA: Humming happens. Also, this video contains sub-optimal levels of editing, namely, none. No script, no planning, no real editing, nothing. Same for the sound - if you can hear anything count that as a win. YMMV if you choose to blow part of your life on this. No Refunds. Enjoy!

One of the most beautiful divers from Seiko and one of my favourites. Overall in great condition and as usual, great job from Spencer. Thanks for sharing.
This watch came to me from a widow (ebay) and the crown was unscrewed so i think it stayed for years in a sock drawer with the crown out. Alot of folks say service a watch only when it stops running correctly but by then your parts are worn out and parts may not be available. I whole heartedly believe sending both watches in was the right choice. Save me a spot in 2028 👍🏼.
Awesome!
That's a beauty but way too nice to wear IMO.
I like some wear and tear on mine, so I'm not afraid of scratching it.
Great restoration video as usual, thanks!
Very nice these Hong Kong dials normally don't have Japan on the case back. Nice Nice.
One of the reasons I suspect it is one of the early transition pieces made of Japanese-produced parts and assembled in HK.
Nice, i have sn 190441. I am rebuilding it now thanks to these videos. Well done
That's great!
Like seeing these redone by the master himself ...Thanks for the video !
Always a student, never a master, but thank you and thanks for watching & commenting. :)
One of Seikos best divers. I wish modern Seiko had the flat dial printing. Such a better look
Couldn't agree more!
I wonder if it had been worked on in the past thus the excess oil, scratch and over-tightened screws. It was a super watch to begin with but now its a champion...nice work Spencer!
The caseback seals only act and look like that when the watch has never been opened, as far as I have seen. I could be wrong, but that's what it seemed like to me.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 great work Spencer K ❗️❗️
Thank you 🙌
@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch by the way, what’s your opinion on the Ti Diver LX Lineup?
Have one bought it in 1979 for 175 bucks. Date 6/1977.
Oh Man, you know how to make magic!, Saludos desde españa Sire!
Man, I stumbled on a 6309-7049 and picked it up for 200$ CAD. I watched all your videos on dials and handsets and the movements and I think I ran into a an absolute jewel. The movement keeps meticulous time, the case is near perfect excluding a couple minor scratches etc. Do you think it would be worthwhile having it serviced considering it shows no signs of any issues? It’s an ‘82 June. 40 years without a service seems extreme to me. Thoughts? P.S. 200 CAD is about 6.50 USD. 😉
Hi Wayne. If you don't know the service history, and especially if you suspect the watch is all original and untouched, it absolutely should be serviced before wearing it since the lubricants will all be long gone. The seals will be bad also, so the watch isn't water-resistant.
@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch thank you sir, I had my local Seiko AD and service look at it and it was serviced within the past year or two apparently although they did say that the crown gasket wasn’t replaced and they could order one I left it for the meantime. Thanks for getting back to me, I had no idea that the 6309 had so many fans until I posted on a Seiko group and the number of incredible, mint and well loved pieces that people had in their collections was incredible. Love the channel, look forward to every posting from you.
Cheers! Happy Canada Day from North of the border.
I have a 6309-7040 with a missing bezel pip.
I bought some hole punches and was wondering if you know the bezel pip diameter and what thickness of plastic to use to make a new pip window.
Thanks.
Nice watch my is 1979
I have 6139 -7000 that need service.
Do you have the time?
I'm not taking any work currently, I apologize.
@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch no, problem
Can you recommend someone?
I waiting years to fix this watch. thanks
Are you still waiting 6 to 9 months before taking anymore work? Thanks
No idea. I just want to get to the end of my current jobs before thinking about what comes next. It's been a long 3.5 years.
spencer klein i sent you a email.
Yes you did, and I'm sorry, I don't.
@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch no problem i just did not know it they were going through to you.
