Saw the amount quick grip a couple of months ago. Went with the Ram mount, absolutely no regrets. Has access to plug in the charger on the bottom, holds securely tearing across corn fields just fine, off road, dirt and gravel roads!
I have been using the Ram Mount for quite some time. You guys were the ones to show me I had been using it wrong. I never received the side brackets when first purchased. I was using a rubber band for the longest time and never worried about it. After watching the recent video of yours, I reached out to Ram Mount and they were super quick to send out the correct hardware at no cost. Awesome company. Ram Mount will be on all my bikes. Ah, a side note. Even without the side brackets, I never had an issue. Just the two point of contact held strong.
Wow, hard to imagine how they mis-packed the copy you opened, but it reminds me of how many folks commented on our X-Grip vs. Quad Lock video, saying that they also didn't get the super glue in the package for the rubber corner nubs. Guess there's always chance for a mis-pack in products like these. Glad it never cost you your phone, and yea, much easier without a rubber band : ) Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for such a great video. You guys are fun, straight to the point, articulate, and break up the info with fun sounds and skits. Great job 👍 Subscribing immediately
I use Mob Armor with Ball Ram mount..then you don't have pivot point issues. Its easy and durable. Have it on all my motorcycles. I would strongly recommend using Lock Tight on the small screws...I've had the screws vibrate loose on single track riding. Works fine, just make sure you set it tight.
I have a quick grip that I use for my motorcycle and Jeep Cherokee dash. I got the wife one and she uses it on her Tacoma, scooter, and bicycle. They are great if you would like to use multiple cases on the same phone and extremely secure.
I’d like to see a Quadlock featured in the future. Particularly the wireless charging head with dampening. Ive been riding a CB500f and had two RAM x-mount phone mounts fail. Ive been using the Quadlock and like it.
With my Kyocera the M/A in the Kenworth works great. Angled corners on work phones, a thicker washer as a mount spot, and the lip on the top of the dash works better than anything the company has tried have me use. Still trying to find a place that deals with ram. Maby one day
Good call, Upside down might make the risk of a heavy jolt/bump ejecting the phone though? If the weight of the phone can sag-down into the spring, be careful. Or just keep riding smooth :)
Quick grip all the way. Spring tension is perfect as it's very easy to get the phone in and out but it holds it tightly. I've used it in rough terrain and dropped my bike many times, phone didn't budge. I never worry about my phone coming out of it.
Yep, it sure is a solid option. Hopefully not causing more camera damage as some folks have reported, this might be something smart phone manufacturers need to address, knowing that so many of us with active lifestyles on bikes and motorcycles and stuff is definitely a thing for the future. Thanks for commenting.
@@RIDEAdventures I just found out about the camera damage phenomenon. That sucks! ☹ So far so good for me. If I got any damage at this point I think I'd have to fault the phone and not the mount though. Or just chalk it up to experience. 100 miles of washboard is bound to have an effect on sensitive electronics so maybe that's the chance we take to play the game.
@@jf7393, that's an excellent point. As so many comments have been made about multiple mounts on the market causing camera damage, maybe riders should keep that in mind, and just put the phone in softer tank-bag-like position for washboard and similar situations. On those types of routes, it's not like we're watching the phone every 30 seconds for directions to "turn left on 3rd street." Might be a long time before electronics can withstand. - Thanks for commenting.
@@RIDEAdventures Too true. I think it's kind of unrealistic to expect the latest iPhone or whatever to be built to withstand offroad duty. Certainly it would be nice, but if there's damage I feel like I'm mostly at fault for wishful thinking. Love your videos, thanks for chatting!
@@RIDEAdventures the Ram definitely has 1 big advantage, and thats being able to have a full case, that is the only downside to the quad lock. If the Ram wasn't so bulky I'd probably switch.
I am looking into the Motorcycle Phone Mount v 3.3 / Moto držák telefonu v 3.3 made in Czech by LSAdventure. Hearing some good things, its small operation and I believe they custom make them. Its a metal frame.
Yep, the KLR 650 for sure when we get a new one, and same for the CRF300 Rally. Hadn't really considered putting that Honda into Rental Operations yet, but it might be in high demand now that you mention it. Please stay tuned : )
My top choice is the RAM Quick Grip, I've tried Ram Universal - not secure, RocForm Perch Mount - not enough adjustment options RocForm RokLock Car Dash Mount - not secure in off road; and Hondo Garage - secure but too much of an effort to quickly get in and out of holder.
I have the Ram but don’t use it anymore. The vibrations ultimately killed the camera in my phone. Also it rattles loudly when not fitted with your phone.
Ugh, yea, it seems every single mount on the market has been reported to kill some cameras. We should all probably remove the phones from the mounts when washboard and other nasty terrain might subject them to the worst vibrations. Thanks for sharing.
Or buy a biker gripper. Takes 1 second to insert, 1 second to remove. It’s small doesn’t take up 12 acres on your handlebar and doesn’t cost a fortune. All these phone mounts are so over engineered it’s silly.
Never heard of the SP Connect before, but thanks for mentioning it. Looks like it functions similarly to the Quad Lock (which we have reviewed and many riders have praised.) Thanks for the note.
In all the comments from our videos, I'm pretty sure we've seen at least 1 report for each mount type (and others we haven't reviewed) saying that all mounts have damaged phones at some point.
If I see this video, its the ram for me. It would be great if they made it also in aluminium. And my next problem is that i have an big phone. The doogee V Max.
@@RIDEAdventures sure did. We stopped at a red light 5 minutes prior. I noticed it was loose. I tightened it. 5 minutes later my friend behind me was telling me how awesome the bounce was. Lol
Which team are you on, Team Ram or Team Mob Armor?
RAM. Always!!
In this case: RAM. Especially with the Quick Grip, since that solved all the issues the X-grip has/had.
SUCH an improvement over the X Grip, although that option has many fans as well. Thanks for sharing.
They have some stiff competition from Quad Lock, but yea, we like the RAM products as well. Thanks for sharing.
I switched from the X mount to the quick release after your review. Working well. The X mount made me nervous when the bands started slipping off.
Watched a number of your videos now. Have to say: well done, articulate, helpful, and fun to watch. Thank you.
Thanks for that great feedback, and greetings from Bend, PDX Bro! More videos ahead, we start filming again on Sunday.

Thanks for a fair comparison of these mounts. I'm a Ram fan, all my mounts are Ram and they are rugged and well designed.
Right on, good stuff they make and getting better. Thanks for sharing.
I have a quick grip that I use for my motorcycle and Jeep Cherokee dash. I got the wife one and she uses it on her Tacoma, scooter, and bicycle. They are great if you would like to use multiple cases on the same phone and extremely secure.

On the QuickGrip I suggest to mount the nuts in the deeper grooves, opposite to what's shown in the video. The side walls stops them from turning.
Good tip, thanks!
I have ram quick grip, like it. Thank you for the recommendation. I use it upside down for easier in and out.
Good call, Upside down might make the risk of a heavy jolt/bump ejecting the phone though? If the weight of the phone can sag-down into the spring, be careful. Or just keep riding smooth :)

Team quad lock.. I used to use Rams traditional and it worked great but, liked the extra security of the quad.
And the Quad is so fast and easy.....thanks for sharing. This Quick Grip may even be faster, but Quad Lock is tough to beat.

Can you review RAM Vibe safe attachment?

Yea, sounds like a mount not as common yet, so let us know how it works out, please.
out topic question : do you plan making a review of the crf300rally or the new klr650 ?

The QuadLock is the answer to all those issue!
It was tough in another video we did, comparing the Quad Lock to the Quick Grip. Tough, tough call for the winner...
flex seal spray on the ball does it all
Good one, good info, thanks!
does the quick grip hide your camera?
There appears to be a critter running across the track in the background at 1:42 :)
Hah good eye!
Hondo garage for me. I've used both of those. Hondo garage phone mount is way better.
Thanks for mentioning it, seems to be popping up in the comments every once in a while so maybe we'll try one.

Now the question is, does the RAM mount damage phones due to vibration and lack of cushion?

@@RIDEAdventures I guess It also depends on whether the phone have optical image stabilization or any other mechanism vulnerable to vibration
