Frickin love Punk Goes covers. Some other one's I'd like to add: Somebody That I Used to Know by Mayday Parade Rolling in the Deep by Go Radio Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by The Maine Stitches by State Champs The Power of Love by The Early November
Todd In The Shadows once derided Animals as "Adam Levine as Sexy Leatherface" so it makes perfect sense for Ice Nine Kills of all bands to take that concept and play it completely straight.
So glad to see that you mentioned that "Torn" was originally by Ednaswap. It's a fact that gets overlooked quite a bit whenever the song is talked about. I personally like the original version by Ednaswap better than the Natalie Imbruglia cover, though they themselves actually re-recorded it at least once, trying to make the song pop off for them.
Ice Nine Kills are great at covers/parodies. They also covered Thriller and Can’t Help Falling in Love which are excellent and released Jason’s Mom, a Friday the 13th acoustic parody of Stacey’s Mom.
PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS (Just to Name a Few): State Champs - Stay the Night (Pop 6) Mayday Parade - Somebody I Used to Know (Pop 5) Pierce the Veil - Just the Way You Are (Pop 4) We the Kings - Caught Up in You (Classic Rock) Sparks the Rescue - Need You Now (Pop 3) The Cab - Disturbia (Pop 2) All Time Low - Umbrella (Crunk) Hands Like Houses and Tonight Alive's covers are really great too. Australians have excellent music at times...
Silverstein's Apologize cover on Punk goes Pop 2 has always been one of my favorites from the series and definitely my favorite that you didn't include. Criminally underrated band.
I’ve always wished they did a flip album and did a Pop Goes Rock-even if pop musicians are covering classic rock songs. Like, imagine Adele singing Dusty Springfield, or Maroon 5 covering Jerry Rafferty, Sam Smith doing Doobie Brothers, or Bruno Mars doing Prince. I could go on but I’d love to hear the flip side made into an album.
Kind of surprised Chunks cover of Allstar wasn't mentioned, my personal favorite. There's a lot of decent and sometimes great covers hidden in the Punk Goes series.
I also really like Motionless In White doing Du Hast, Chunk No Captain Chunk doing All Star, The Killing Moon doing You Oughta Know and 18 Visions doing The Beautiful People
The Starting Line covering J.Lo "I'm Real" Student Rick covering "Heaven is a Place on Earth" Jughead's Revenge covering "Talk Dirty To Me." and how could I forget: The Ataris covering Skid Row "I Remember You." I LOVED that cover.
10:40 honestly, this one was a perfect cover because PVRIS has just enough edge to fit the lyric content very well. Not being much of a pop fan, I love the original Sia version, and from there i went to look up rock or metal covers, that's how I found the PVRIS one. Was blown away by it, honestly
personal favorite of mine is Strung Out's cover of Bark at the Moon from Punk Goes Metal - don't know how they did it, but the solos are even more insane than the original
I loved the punk goes series of albums. This is more like a 10 most popular punk goes songs. I would listen to these songs. Halifax - Straight Up (Paula Abdul Cover) Thrice - Send Me An Angel (Real Life Cover) Yellowcard - Everywhere (Michelle Branch Cover) Further Seems Forever - Bye, Bye, Bye (*NSYNC Cover) Hit The Lights - Hey Jealousy (Gin Blossoms Cover) Copeland - Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden Cover) Scary Kids Scaring Kids - Losing My Religion ( REM Cover) Anberlin - Enjoy The Silence (Depeche Mode cover) Eighteen Visions - Beautiful People ( Manson Cover) Scary Kids Scaring Kids - Notorious Thugs ( Bone Thugs and Biggie Cover) Lorene Drive - Hey Ya! (OutKast Cover) Silverstein - Apologize (One Republic Cover) Alesana - What Goes Around… (Justin Timberlake Cover) A Skylit Drive - Seperate Ways (Journey Cover) Every Avenue - Take Me Home Tonight (Eddie Money Cover) Artist Vs Poet - Bad Romance (Lady Gaga Cover) The Word Alive - Heartless (Kanye Cover) Go Radio - Rolling in the Deep (Adele Cover) Silverstein, Down with Webster - Runaway (Kanye cover) Memphis May Fire - Grenade (Bruno Mars Cover) Breathe Carolina - Billie Jean (King of Pop Cover) The Color Morale - Everlong (Foo Cover) Mayday Parade - Comedown (Bush Cover) The Ghost Inside - Southtown (POD Cover)
I feel like an old man screaming "back in my day, we had Strung Out covering 'Bark at the Moon' and No Use For A Name covered 'Turning Japanese'! I also walked up hill in the snow for 10 miles to get to school... I dislike people specifically from New Hampshire." Except: * Those covers were before my time * My school was 1 mile from my house and we never had snow, And * I'm pretty sure Luke is older than me.
my favorite punk goes pop is right now by asking alexandria, danny’s voice just fits so well during the clean parts and they really know how to make you headbang during the heavy part
I dont know if it was on any of these compilations, But I always thought The Ataris' cover of Boys of Summer was great. It's simple, pretty much unchanged, just played with more energy and yeah, you and I could've probably come up with this cover, but we didn't, they did, and It rocked.
Not part of the Punk Goes series but I’m sure they deserve some credit for bringing that idea into the scene Edit: the first PGP was released in 02 crazy enough, so I dunno, great minds think alike I guess
Hands Like Houses' version of Torn has always been my favorite from these comps. I had a huge phase of finding every Punk Goes... album that my library had. There was a lot of skippable songs, a few passable songs, and a couple great songs. All the ones you named here are great, and I also really enjoy Yellowcard's cover of Everywhere.
You missed ...Baby One More Time by August Burns Red!!! Fun fact! Apparently Matt's kick drums were not to the producers liking so he programmed them in manually. I would love to see them play it live!
I remember hearing that Blank Space cover on FM radio a few times. The Ghost Inside’s version of Southtown (originally by P.O.D.) is also pretty good. Stayed true to the original while making it their own, even adding a verse that fits in perfectly
That Ice Nine Kills cover of Animals is fucking exceptional. I never thought I'd catch myself singing/screaming/headbanging to Maroon 5 lyrics in the car
Here’s some more: Mae - March Of The Pigs (Nine Inch Nails) The Killing Moon - You Oughta Know (Alanis Morisette) Eighteen Visions - The Beautiful People (Marilyn Manson) So They Say - In Bloom (Nirvana) Get Scared - My Own Worst Enemy (Lit) Chunk! No Captain Chunk! - All Star (Smash Mouth) Mayday Parade - Comedown (Bush) Motionless In White - Du Hast (Rammstein) The Ghost Inside - Southtown (POD) Ice Nine Kills - Good Riddance (Green Day) Strung Out - Bark At The Moon (Ozzy Osbourne) Dynamite Boy - TNT (AC/DC) All Time Low - Umbrella (Rihanna) The Escape Frame - Nothing But A G Thang (Dr Dre) Hot Rod Circuit - Gin and Juice (Snoop Dogg) Lorene Drive - Hey Ya! (OutKast)
I hope you get a chance to check out Dr. Demento "Covered in Punk." My favorite track from it is Shonen Knife's cover of "Eat It" (by "Weird Al" Yankovic, obviously.) It's really good! And there are plenty of other excellent and out there tracks to choose from!
the interesting thing about I Prevail's cover of Blank Space is it wasn't actually made to be on PGP6 but was added to the album's re-release, and was even released before their first EP. they did a great job of commanding people's attention right at the beginning of the band's life. imo August Burns Red's covers from these albums are at the top of the list. they did an amazing job making Baby One More Time and Wrecking Ball sounds like songs they wrote themselves.
The Cab's cover of Disturbia (Rihanna) is so good! I didnt know about the other spinoff compilations they made plus vol 6? Think i only have the first 2 or 3 -- i have some catching up to do 😆
I remember once at work they played the Tyler Carter cover of “Ain’t it Fun” by Paramore. I know the song is pop-but Paramore is WAY more Punk than Tyler Carter…
Cartel is a fun band! First heard them mid to late 2000s I think, with the song "Say Anything...(else)" on Madden soundtrack. While you're digging into them, check out Hit the Lights too My personal favorite Punk Goes... song is "My Heart Will Go On" from New Found Glory.
I remember when the punk covers albums got going in the 90s. One of my favorites was ALL doing Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell", which they occasionally did live as well. Bill Stevenson would play guitar while Stephen Egerton took over drums. Absolutely killer version.
Genuinely surprised Craig Owens' cover of Paradise by Coldplay isn't on here. Then again, it's a lot more mellow and practically a piano ballad compared to a lot of the tracks listed.
Punk Goes Pop Vol. 7 Is Actually Amazing imo, & has a good few songs I would put on this list personally. It has my favourite song in the entire Punk Goes Series, In The Form Of Ice Nine Kills’ Version Of I Don’t Wanna Live Forever
Maybe a little lesser known band, but Emery had amazing covers of All I Want by Toad The Wet Sprocket on Punk Goes 90s and Holding Out For A Hero by Bonnie Tyler on Punk Goes 80s.
Honorable mention to the Ghost Inside doing justice to P.O.D's South Town and Asking Alexandria turning Akon's Right Now into something worth listening to.

Frickin love Punk Goes covers. Some other one's I'd like to add:
Somebody That I Used to Know by Mayday Parade
Rolling in the Deep by Go Radio
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by The Maine
Stitches by State Champs
The Power of Love by The Early November
Couple others I like:
Sweater Weather by Slaves
Grenade by Memphis May Fire
Royals by Youth in Revolt
Todd In The Shadows once derided Animals as "Adam Levine as Sexy Leatherface" so it makes perfect sense for Ice Nine Kills of all bands to take that concept and play it completely straight.
Woooo another todd fan
@@primetime429 Oh I'm sure there's a lot of overlap between fans of Todd and Luke. Rap Critic too.
Todd also thinks Lewis Capaldi is a worse singer than Nicki Minaj.

PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS (Just to Name a Few):
State Champs - Stay the Night (Pop 6)
Mayday Parade - Somebody I Used to Know (Pop 5)
Pierce the Veil - Just the Way You Are (Pop 4)
We the Kings - Caught Up in You (Classic Rock)
Sparks the Rescue - Need You Now (Pop 3)
The Cab - Disturbia (Pop 2)
All Time Low - Umbrella (Crunk)
Hands Like Houses and Tonight Alive's covers are really great too. Australians have excellent music at times...
I don’t think I’ve clicked on a video faster. You had me at Punk Goes. Shame we’ll never get a new one since Fearless has new management.
I won't say "NEVER" but it does look unlikely.
Totally one of my favorite comps from the very first. Punk goes crunk has some bangers
Some killer picks man, great topic! I grew up on this series, so glad you picked that WCAR cover of "My Love", one of my all time favs
Silverstein's Apologize cover on Punk goes Pop 2 has always been one of my favorites from the series and definitely my favorite that you didn't include. Criminally underrated band.
One of the best live bands I've seen as well
I like runaway more but yes.
Ice Nine Kills did an absolute banger with covering Animals.
One of my favorites was Yellowcard's cover of "Everywhere". The strings really help hammer the cover home.
Say Anything's cover of I Got Your Money cracks me up.
So glad that Tonight Alive made this list. They really did an amazing job with "Little Lion Man."
Upon This Dawning's cover of Call Me Maybe is my favorite, although that one just makes me laugh more than anything. It goes from 0 to 100 real fast
Kind of surprised Chunks cover of Allstar wasn't mentioned, my personal favorite. There's a lot of decent and sometimes great covers hidden in the Punk Goes series.
I also really like Motionless In White doing Du Hast, Chunk No Captain Chunk doing All Star, The Killing Moon doing You Oughta Know and 18 Visions doing The Beautiful People
Solid choices as well.
@@RockedNet thx bro
Love that Go radio rolling in the deep chorus
Punk goes Crunk is what opened me up to the Devil Wears Prada and all the scene metalcore
We Came as Roman's Glade You Came cover was always one of my favorites
Definitely thought this would’ve got a mention! It’s always been a standout Punk Goes song for me
I’ve been waiting for this video to drop since you’ve asked the community what our favorites are 😍
Great video as always.
The Starting Line covering J.Lo "I'm Real"
Student Rick covering "Heaven is a Place on Earth"
Jughead's Revenge covering "Talk Dirty To Me."
and how could I forget:
The Ataris covering Skid Row "I Remember You." I LOVED that cover.
My favorite would be Wcar's cover of Glad you came. The breakdown riffs always hit so hard
You’ve gained my respect by putting Still Fly on here. TDWP was one of the first metal bands I fell in love with as a teenager 🤘🏻
Great video as usual my dude. I’ve always really dug the Losing My Religion cover by Scary Kids, Scaring Kids from Punk Goes 90s.
Thank you so much for covering Tonight Alive! They are my favorite band.
I love AFI covering My Michelle by Guns n Roses on Punk goes metal!
Two of my guilty pleasures are Right Now (Na na na) by Asking Alexandria and Bedrock by I, The Skyline
personal favorite of mine is Strung Out's cover of Bark at the Moon from Punk Goes Metal - don't know how they did it, but the solos are even more insane than the original
Rufio covering Simple Minds' "Don't You Forget About Me'' was amazingly solid.
The Rufio cover of like a prayer is great aswell.
This is an excellent list. I especially love the inclusion of TDWP's version of Still Fly.

They have a lot of great material over the years.
@RockedNet yeah they do. Their covers got me checking out their music and I stuck with them
ADTR's Since U Been Gone cover got me into their music, but the The Fray cover was great as well!
The video for INK’s version of Animals is also hilarious and worth a watch.
Also, Gym Class Heroes version of Under the Bridge on PG90s is fantastic
I feel like an old man screaming "back in my day, we had Strung Out covering 'Bark at the Moon' and No Use For A Name covered 'Turning Japanese'! I also walked up hill in the snow for 10 miles to get to school... I dislike people specifically from New Hampshire."

Some amazing covers on the "Punk goes Metal" comp.. Strung out thrashing it up with Bark at the moon was a highlight
Punk goes pop volume 2 was so full of bangers! Honestly I still go back and listen to it without a single skip
There were gems on most of the albums.
@@RockedNet Yeah every cd definitely had its bangers!
Let this be a lesson: when you want a cover song, go with punk bands, not kidz bop.
my favorite punk goes pop is right now by asking alexandria, danny’s voice just fits so well during the clean parts and they really know how to make you headbang during the heavy part
You Belong With Me by For All Those Sleeping deserves a spot, or a mention!

Great choices. My personal favorite Punk Goes cover is Anberlin's "Enjoy the Silence"
Shoutout to the Set It Off cover of “Problem” by Ariana Grande as well, that one’s pretty awesome

Little lion man was a fantastic cover. Still on my playlist to this day
It’s Ironic that a Cover song of a Maroon 5 song is better than 90% of Maroon 5’s discography.
All Animals needed to be good was actual good energy and instrumentals
I remember hearing that Blank Space cover on FM radio a few times. The Ghost Inside’s version of Southtown (originally by P.O.D.) is also pretty good. Stayed true to the original while making it their own, even adding a verse that fits in perfectly
