1:34 minutes in and already SO GRATEFUL for your disclaimer that "universal" is not universal. I've been beating myself up for 3 days over this. Thank you!
I’ve never been a handy guy, but now that I have a family and a home of our own I’m learning how to do all the basics on UA-cam. I got this done in 10 min, first time I ever tried it. Thank you for keeping it simple and helping folks like me out!
So… to remove the initial metal clip that you described as “probably the hardest part” that you encountered just after removing the sprayer from the hose, try dental floss sticks. I slid 3 individual pieces of floss under the clip, then pulled them all together as 1, & pulled. The clip came right off and hung in the floss as not to go flying. Worked like a charm!:]
Thank you so much! This video was very helpful. When I purchased the sink sprayer online I thought I was getting the hose with it but instead I only received the nozzle. It's a good thing that 1. I didn't need to replace the hose and 2. I saw this video! I replaced the nozzle in about 20 minutes. The hardest thing was taking the clip off the old sprayer. Everything else was easy thanks to your video. Thanks again!!!
Just had an issue with a leaky hose on my sprayer and it came apart. Watched the video, looked at the sprayer and hose, found that the clip holding the hose in came off. Put the hose back in per the video, put the sprayer back on, no more massive leak. 10/10, following to make sure I can find your channel later.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I had never replaced and sprayer before and I totally didn't know that the sprayer nozzle screws apart! That made the difference in finishing the job.
I literally had the EXACT SAME sprayer and didn't get a house and because off your video i did it completely by myself with no problem! Much appreciated being I'm a woman and new to fixing and replacing certain household stuff still....even though I've been on my own for years stuff like this makes my life easier thank you!!
It's good to do things yourself if yo have the time, it saves a lot of money (money saved is worth more than money earned because you do not tax of savings) and for each project you learn to do yourself, it becomes easier next time. There is spillover effects for many things.
Only person out of 4 videos that showed me I was missing a washer out of the old one and that's why it leaked on my first attempt! Love the realistic style and your attention to detail. Thanks.
The instructions don't say use washer on mine. Of course I also couldn't get the hose through. I ended up using all old pieces with the exception of the sprayer itself
Thank you! I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t see the clip on my old sprayer, because it was small like yours and the one I bought was bigger, so thank you! 😊
Thanks for the help! Good video. Just a heads up though, at 3:12 where you were wondering why they caulked the sprayer base, it’s plumber’s putty so that the base can stick to the sink. Otherwise the base would just move freely every time you move the sprayer
Thank you. I learn by watching not reading. I was intimidated by the process but with your video I ended up replacing it in 10 minutes. So happy and proud of myself. Thanks!!! 😀
@The Fixer - THANK YOU SOOO SOOO MUCH!! You were the ONLY person on here who was straight up and to the point, with no BS and I was able to easily follow along with your guidance and fix my sink/sprayer problem by the time your life-saving video was done!! You have no idea how much I appreciate you man!! Many thanks again!! 🎉🎉
Thanks for this video. Hubby was growing increasingly frustrated that this universal replacement was not fitting no matter how much foul mouth lubrication he gave it! 😅 Off to the store to hopefully get the right one. 👍
Definitely valuable information. It is the little things that we do not repair, for lack of knowledge, that eventually turn into big things!!!! Oh, who found the leak, you or Mrs. Fixer?!?!? 🤨 Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
Hey! I noticed the leak one night while getting something under the sink. I actually had an extra dog water bowl under there that caught all of the water. It was filled to the brim and the water was gross. 🤢. So glad I found it so I could fix this. Thanks for checking out the video, I hope it helps you out if you need it one of these days!!
I just found your video and it was straight to the point. I ended up buying a universal brand but I was lucky, it fit perfectly. thank you so much for this video.
So satisfying to watch. This might be a "little and easy" job for you! For me would take a day, I'd be wearing bandaids, cussing, having sprayed myself in the face, and needing a nice glass of wine or three! hahahaa
I agree, just recently purchased a "UNIVERSAL" sprayer attempting to repair my old sprayer. Turned out to be UN-UNIVERSAL. It leaked more than the original.
Thanks, man. I thought I was doing something wrong- nope, just a different brand. I made it work by recycling an extra washer from the old one. Harder to tighten, but no leak. Thanks for this!
Thank you so, so much! Our sprayer leaks and my husband will not touch it. Now that I CAN fix it, I have a question or problem. I have no idea what kind of sink we have. It's 27 years old. Do I just take the part to the Hardware store? Thank you! ❤
Hey Fixer - my new spray head just had the new metal / plastic bit and no rubber ring or seal - same with the old one. You think I should go get a kit that has those? New one seems to work fine just dripples out the top a little after use. The bottom and spray bit itself is fine.
That’s the problem I have. Neither my old sprayer had the rubber seals nor the new one. So I replaced and still have the same leak as before 🤦♀️ how ridiculous!
I need to know "the hack" that you did to get the white nipple to come up through the threaded bottom silver piece more! Yours looks like it's 1/4 inch or more through that piece before you put the clip on. Mine is only about 1/8inch and you cant hardly get the clip on and it still leaks through the bottom. Any advice on how to get the white tip part connected to the hose to come up further through that hole? Thanks
Just a little tip for anyone having trouble getting it to not leak: place a small washer (inside diameter similar to hose diameter and outside diamater at least half of hose holder inside), then get a small diameter router bit to trim down the inside of the hose holder, in order to get the clip area to be exposed. Your welcome.
A metal fork worked really well for me in safely getting the retention clip off. Just bend one prong on the end of the fork a few millimeters to match the distance between the ends of the retention clip. This allows you to push on both ends of the retaining clip at the same time with the bent prong and the one next to it. The clip should slide right off and you don't need to put your fingers in harms way.
Nice vid-- Problem for me is I dont know the brand on my sink. When I needed the spay head changed last time the plumber did messy job didnt hold up. So I myself tried 2 or 3 different white plastic heads but the sprayer now sticks on and am currently soaking it white vineager and hoping I will be able to get this shower head back on or will try to replace it again.
I noticed the flow of my new nozzle is a little slower after installing. What could be some reasons for that? I also want to note that the brand I purchased was a really cheap one. It only came with the newer silver c clip (I think that’s what it’s called?) and there were no other washers like the two black ones in your video. There weren’t any one my old nozzle that I took off either.
I took a chance and bought a universal one and the washers fit quite snug. And used the previously c-hook because the new one wouldn’t fit. Thank you for this!!!
My style sprayer looks just like that old one there too and mine is leaking...are they defective? It's only about 10 years old...unless that's the lifespan of these things. But this showed me how to replace it as I just replaced the floor under the kitchen sink and I don't need that ruined. Thanks!
Wanted to share i had the same problem with the exact same old faucet sprayer. And i unintentionally bought the same replacement. In my case it was just the retaining clip that failed. So i replaced the base and gun but only needed to replace the clip on the connector piece after i saw the new one wouldn't fit. Only the retaining clip, 12$ at lowes and 30 minutes and im solid. Thank you sir, please fix or GFI that shady outlet under your sink especially after a leaky sink. God bless
There was more to it than I expected. This video was definitely helpful. One question. Why doesn't the water coming out the faucet stop when the sprayer is being used?
It should. There is a diverter in the main faucet. When you press the sprayer it should cut off the faucet. Yours might have some gunk keeping it from sealing
You are really great! If you could put a video up on how to change the under the sink cabinet flooring I would be grateful. Water leaked under the sink and warped the cabinet flooring. Thank you!
Also, another good reason to buy good brands of faucets is that they will often send you replacement parts for free. Moen sent me a free hose sprayer as well as free cartilages.
What if I don't have a leak. I just have a sprayer that sprays in all directions when I use it. Can I skip the whole clip part and just screw a new one on?
Thanks for doing this. The first thing I was going to do was CUT the old nozzle off. I was expecting some kind of pressure fitting. Saved my ass bud ! !
Good job, I had a plumber here last week to replace mine and it still leaks. I wish I didn't have to turn off the water supply because I don't have shut off valves under the sink. I have a crawl space under the house and that is where the shut off valve is. What a simple fix.
Keep the sink. It does it’s job and has tons of character. Go shopping and see if u can find a sink like that one somewhere. U can’t. If u keep the sink and ignore what others say, u can be financially free and have the coolest sink that anyone has ever seen.
Not a bad idea... but I don't like the sink 😔. When I pull it out (during my kitchen remodel) I will put it up online for free so someone else can enjoy it. Thanks for checking out the video!
I need to know the “hacky” way u enlarged the opening to fit over the existing hose!!!! I’m having the same issue…did you just drill out the opening to be bigger?
Great video, I wish I saw it before I brought the 'universal' replacement sprayer. I have the exact same set up as you, and brought a replacement... it WON'T slide onto the existing hose. You gotta tell me how you made it fit (how did you widen the hole without breaking the sprayer?) I won't tell anyone else, I promise, lol. Seriously.. give me a hint?
Came here intending to remove sprayer entirely from my sink setup (replacing with soap dispenser instead). Is there a special tool to help me unscrew the sprayer hose from where it connects to the faucet assembly? Very tight quarters up under there! And should I then cap the resulting hole with a ___" threaded female brass cap? Don't wanna start the job without knowing the end game, lol. Thanks!
Followed all the steps but the water doesn't come out the sprayer, it runs down the tubing. Also, I didn't have that thin plastic piece. When I put the rubber washer on over thr new clip, the nozzle won't screw in all the way. Suggestions?? Thanks!
Hi. I bought a house and the sink looks just like that. Do you know what type it is??? Ceramic??? I'm thinking to keep the sink and replace the counter top, i like the reddish color plus it looks so vintage. I need to know what material so that I can know what to clean it with. Mine looks like it has calcium deposits and buildup.... Thanks and thanks also for this cool vid!
Hey! Looks like mine is cast iron and probably has a porcelain or ceramic coating over it. They are really durable, mine has a lot of pits and such from being so old but if you can live with stuff like that I say clean it up! Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
I replaced two speakers just like this one. One was at my mother's house. The other was for my house. At my mother's house my sister cut the hose and just let the water run into the sink. So, I ended up having to replace the hose. Of course it was a simple connection under the sink, so I had to buy an adapter kit and watch several videos like this one to figure out how to attach it. Once I did that hooking up the sprayer was actually easy. At my house this was like my 2nd or 3rd time replacing it. I replaced it a couple times with one of those cheap black spayers. The handle kept breaking. So this time I decided on one that seemed like the one I bought for my mother. The hole was too small just like this one. The hose wouldn't go all the way through. Also, it was like the gaskets and washers were built in. The only thing it came with was that silver clip. After an hour of filing and still not being able to get the hose not through enough, because it stopped just above where that clip goes on, I ended up using all the parts from the old sprayer. I used the piece that screws on, the new clip, and both black plastic washers from the old sprayer. I never could get the new piece to work matter how much bigger I made the hole. Now I almost wish all I did was screw the old sprayer off and screw the new one on. By the way what i bought was the standard universal kits at Lowes and Home Depot. I think mine was a 10330
I need advice... My hose will not spray at all. It will let a small amount of water out but not enough to do anything with. I thought it was blogged and replaced it but I still have the same issue. Any idea where my problem is? Thank you in advance! Btw I am now a subscriber! I love your videos!
What was your problem? I saw a video it may be the diverter in the main faucet I think that’s my problem after spending an hour to get the new sprayer on I’m so frustrated!
I’m a 44 year old single mom, and it’s videos like this that allow me to not have to depend on anyone else to help me all the time. Thanks so much!
Glad they help! 😃
63 year old retiree - same situation, lol.
1:34 minutes in and already SO GRATEFUL for your disclaimer that "universal" is not universal. I've been beating myself up for 3 days over this. Thank you!
I like how you keep it real, because if we’re being honest most of our houses look just like this one or worse. Keep up the good work 👌🏻
I’ve never been a handy guy, but now that I have a family and a home of our own I’m learning how to do all the basics on UA-cam. I got this done in 10 min, first time I ever tried it. Thank you for keeping it simple and helping folks like me out!

Mine just snapped 6 pieces of floss together like they were nothing. :(
I want to have your babies 😂😂😂 I've been cussing for 20 minutes trying to get it off.
Thank you! Your video was a huge help. I was at a loss until you showed how to get that clip off around 4:30 min.
Thank you good sir. This was exactly what I needed to fix my sink sprayer. One year later and you are still educating people in a nice video.
The caulk around the top sink fixture is to keep water sprayed on your sink from seeping down into your cabinet underneath.
So glad someone said this
Not having that plumbers putty actually CAN be the source of a leak
Bought a Moen brand sink sprayer and it comes with a foam gasket at the bottom. Look for a brand that includes something like this.
Thank you so much! This video was very helpful. When I purchased the sink sprayer online I thought I was getting the hose with it but instead I only received the nozzle. It's a good thing that 1. Helped me a ton. Thank you. Easy fix, but I would never have found that little metal clip by myself. That tip saved the day for me.
Glad to hear that it helped! 😃

I replaced my first prayer today and this video is the only thing that got me through it since I’m a visual learner! Thank you so much for posting!

You cannot replace prayer,,,,Sorry.😕
Super helpful video! We didn’t know about the little clip. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you. Not all heroes wear capes

This video was very helpful for me, I have that same universal faucet sprayer and luckily I had no issues with it fitting.
Thank you. You just saved this old lady some money. I did it myself.
Thank you! Really helpful! got my new sprayer hooked up and works great!

I took a chance and bought a universal one and the washers fit quite snug. And used the previously c-hook because the new one wouldn’t fit. Thank you for this!!!
Your video helped a lot. I ended up having to connect the end of my old sprayer to my new spray nozzle to get it to work properly.
Thanks man, I just did like you and threw away the instructions, but I needed some professional help, I did it and it worked perfectly.
Awesome. Thanks for watching!

That sink is hideous?!? I effin love it!!!! The sink itself is gorgeous!!! Don’t get rid of it.
You’re a lifesaver with this one.

Thanks to you I did this by myself!! I’m 76 single woman!! Yahoo! Just wish I would’ve seen the dental floss trick! I got it done anyway!!
What brand is your faucet and brand of your sprayer?
There was more to it than I expected. This video was definitely helpful. One question. Why doesn't the water coming out the faucet stop when the sprayer is being used?
I think it is to keep pressure. Your water pipe delivers only so much water.
It should. There is a diverter in the main faucet. When you press the sprayer it should cut off the faucet. Yours might have some gunk keeping it from sealing
Thank you. Quick and to the point. Off to Lowes.
You are really great! If you could put a video up on how to change the under the sink cabinet flooring I would be grateful. Water leaked under the sink and warped the cabinet flooring. Thank you!
I only have minor damage and am going to cover it with vinyl flooring. Hopefully any future leaks will be more obvious
My sprayer was leaking but I didn’t realize how bad until I had my countertops replaced yesterday. It looks rotten and disgusting
Also, another good reason to buy good brands of faucets is that they will often send you replacement parts for free. Moen sent me a free hose sprayer as well as free cartilages.
Thanks for going to the trouble to make this. + the humor!
Easy peasy. Much easier seeing it done.
Where did the plastic ring and rubber o-ring come from that you put on before screwing on the actual spray nozzle?
What if I don't have a leak. I just have a sprayer that sprays in all directions when I use it. Can I skip the whole clip part and just screw a new one on?
Thanks for doing this. The first thing I was going to do was CUT the old nozzle off. I was expecting some kind of pressure fitting. Saved my ass bud ! !
Good job, I had a plumber here last week to replace mine and it still leaks. I wish I didn't have to turn off the water supply because I don't have shut off valves under the sink. I have a crawl space under the house and that is where the shut off valve is. What a simple fix.

Yes. But you didn’t hear it from me. 😁 thanks for watching. Hope it helps.
Great video. Fixed mine in no time
Do you have a video on replacing that hose and how to do so
Thank you and I love you!
Merry Christmas!!!🎄👍
Thanks for the video it looks easy enough now i could order the nozzle to do it!
Great video, I wish I saw it before I brought the 'universal' replacement sprayer. I have the exact same set up as you, and brought
a replacement... it WON'T slide onto the existing hose. You gotta tell me how you made it fit (how did you widen the hole without breaking the sprayer?) I won't tell anyone else, I promise, lol.
Seriously.. give me a hint?
This probably doesn’t help now but I had the same problem and because it’s plastic I actually used a grill lighter to melt it to make a bigger opening
That isn't a bad idea thanks! I ended up taking my 'not-universal' sprayer back and got one made for my specific faucet.
@@askingforafriend3574 Sometimes I use a dremel tool to drill or sand an opening to be a little bigger.
Ive been looking for a reason to use my dremel tool thanks for the tip cause im having the exact same problem
What did you do to get the hose to fit through the new bottom part? Making the hole bigger part? Thats the problem I'm having...

Great video man it made it an easy fix. Thanks.
This video really helps a lot. Thank you!
Great to hear!
Thanks man this is great!!
Dude you just saved me a damn headache.....Thank you!!!!!
