$1.7 Billion Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Aerial Construction Update

The new Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Redevelopment Program will consolidate medical services into new facilities on the 72-acre campus. The project consists of the new construction of a 545,000 SF acute care inpatient tower with 346 beds, a helicopter landing pad, and a warehouse; a 370,000 SF outpatient treatment and support building and 508,000 SF above-grade parking structure; a 23,000 SF facilities and IT support building, a 34,000 SF regional laboratory building, and a new 11,000 SF central plant.

That's awesome. We didn't have health insurance when I was boy in the 60's and 70's and it's where my mother took up for checkups and everything we needed medically. Harbor Medical Center (Harbor General from back in the day), sits strongly in my heart.

@@vision-gc4hy That's so lovely, I can definitely understand the reverence. I know that it's one of the few LA county hospitals (there should be more), as it used to be the hospital designated for the LA Port then taken over by the army during WWII, then gifted to the county as army surplus property afterwards. One of the perks of LA is a lot of its history is well recorded because most of it has occurred in the 19th Century onwards! Nothing like ancient cities elsewhere like in Europe and Asia.

You have no idea how much this will help with parking. It has always been a nightmare trying to find parking at Harbor-UCLA.
