      But unfortunately they picked a bad state to do it in. Rising crime in the Detroit area, drug & human trafficking due to Michigan being near Canada and stay at home orders during pandemic. Terrible leadership in Michigan plus it gets cold and homes have high radon exposure.
      Imagine 5-10 years from now, God forbid, but with the rising crime and when virus comes back. #FloridaGang

Time and pressure are going to show you what corners you cut. What did the inspector say? Or was he a guy the concrete crew brought in

    superb house,
    magnificent work of the builders, I hope you will be happy in it, I have a quick question, why do you use wood for your houses? I am French and in France we are more adept at reinforced concrete than wood, especially for load-bearing walls, so when France is much less subject to hurricanes or tornadoes, for example my house is made of reinforced concrete from the basement to the second floor

    I poured basement walls as a young man. Stripping those forms, pulling them up to the top of the wall, turning around and then dropping them back into the inside of the basement was no joke. Hardest labor I've ever done.

    • @FarisandLisa

      We can’t even imagine, those forms looked so heavy and especially in the heat!

    • @ditherdather
      @ditherdather Рік тому +1

      @FarisandLisa They're aluminum, but the 9' wall panels are still 120 to 130 lbs or more. They nail in those wooden boxes to create cutouts, pockets, and stepdowns for beams and things. If they nail through a "hat section" of the panel, then it leaves a hole and concrete seeps through those holes into the panel during subsequent pours, making them even heavier. After pulling 30 or 40 of them you feel wiped out.

    • @ditherdather
      @ditherdather Рік тому

      @FarisandLisa And pulling one up over a wall on a windy day can be terrifying. They're veritable parachutes in the wind. Take you right off the wall.

    Some things I saw that are going to cause issues later.
    I didnt see any rebar in the large piers or the walls. Drains in all around the base of the walls b4 backfilling.
    No waterproofing on the walls b4 backfilling.
    No rebar in the garage footings.
    No attachments of the walls to the concrete.
    No wire mesh for the concrete floors.
    Floor joists should have been 2×12 solid boards.
    If possible, start the build sooner. Floor decking is all wet from snow.
