Nurse here: 100% low iron can = hair fall out. Take your supplements faithfully. Maybe even switch to liquid version to get your levels back up quicker.
Girl you will be fine. Stress sometimes cause excessive shedding. Never Google health symptoms, you will be left super stressed. I hope you don't big chop it. Your hair will recover. You can still visit the doctor for a check up to make sure things are ok. All the best and take it easy.
💫✨ @Nickynatro, I think you are so kind, reassuring, and realistic…yes, optimistic! 🤗 You made ME feel better about MY hair; thanks! ☺️ Thanks for sharing this particular video, Jess!!! 💫✨
But if you're washing your hair less frequently, i.e. going from washing once a week to every 2 weeks, you're bound to have twice as much shedding as you have doubled your time in between a good detangle. I dunno I don't detangle my hair between wash days so it's pretty normal for my shedding to increase when I wash my hair less frequently.
Cutting doesn’t fix shedding/ shedding is from the root of your scalp. Figure out if it is something on the inside, or a certain ingredient in an newly used product , or stress does cause shedding.. get a protective style and leave it alone allow it to repair itself. Low iron will also make it shed out badddd! Light trim and put it away for about 2-3 months
Just listening to you talk I can hear the stress. You have to stop and take time for you dear. The things we can't control we have to give over to God, breath and take it one day/ moment at a time. Sending you love and peace 💗
Being honest, your hair does look thinner especially when you showed the pic after you dyed it, the comparison is noticeable to me however....as everyone has said STRESS will do a number of things to the body including hair loss/shedding AND as many of us women can testify too low iron is a definite trigger of hair loss as well...your sooooo good with your hair and it's YOUR HAIR so you know what to do...good luck and keep your faith alive, it'll be ok soon❣️
Jess, you are ok!! We all go through it. I had alot of shedding this weekend after taking my braids out. It concerned me but I did a deep conditioning with protein. I mixed 1 🥑, 2 🥚, 2 teaspoons of mayonnaise, olive oil, aloe Vera plant, and conditioner. Be patient. Love you Girl!! You got alot going on Boo!!
Increased iron, protein, and vitamin D should help. Could also be hard water in the shower, maybe look into filters for shower heads. Before you wash your hair spritz your scalp with either green tea or clove water and let it sit for about 15 mins. They’re DHT blockers or something like that and slow the shedding process and strengthen the follicles.
I was going through something like this and I had to change my shower head and get a filtered one because I had hard water which was taking a toll on my hair. The time before that was stress related because I lost both of my parents back to back a year apart. My hair has since grown back.
Girl, I experienced the saaame thing after I had Covid. It just seemed like it was shedding more than normal, and everybody told me I was probably just trippin. So, I tried to ignore it. But, then I started looking at comparison pictures and started getting really concerned. It did not feel or look nearly as thick (especially the front) . It lasted for months, but it’s gotten better. Just try not to stress (cast your cares on the Lord), take your vitamins (brewers yeast is good for hair growth), and speak hair affirmations (Mark 11:24).
Same here, I had Covid Mid December to mid January and I am still having extreme hair shedding especially when I wash it. The shedding has lessened, but it’s still more than my normal.
Omg I experienced the same thing as well and it’s bugging me out!😢 I had omicron in late December 2021 and by early March 2022, my hair started shedding like crazy! Literally lost handfuls of healthy 4a-4c hair😫😫 it’s now July 2022 and my hair has finally stopped shedding but my hair is sooooo freaking thin and sparse! My hair is about the same length as Jess’. Please look up telogen effluvium related to covid-19. It really opened my eyes to how illness affects the hair/body. Hope this helps!♥️
I learned when my hands are in my hair too much breakage starts to happen. So I have a routine where I keep it in braids for two to three months. And in that time it is flourishing. No combing no brushing, just moisture. 😌
I completely feel you because I think I’m going through the exact same thing and I’ve really considered cutting mines so I appreciate you sharing this. Can’t wait to see what you do!
I feel like you’re narrating my life and my hair issues right now, plus i feel strange, like I’m not in my own body. Started working out again this morning and u just reminded me about vitamins cause I haven’t done that in a long time. Lol… i also did a puff comparison, which was just stressful, and i keep wanting to go back to my “quarantine cut” but I don’t know. I’m just gonna put it in a protective style and leave it alone because I’ve been on that bun life too.
I was going through the same thing. It's more emotional than some might understand. I've been in protective styles for about two months. Praying our tresses are restored.
That is a lot. Please go see a derm with your concerns. Wait, didn’t you have COVID a few months back? That could be causing it. A lot of people had that side effect. But start really taking care of it, washing every week or two, lower manipulation/protective styles, and taking your vitamins. Could be stress too though. Hair issues and autoimmune issues like alopecia run in my family and are often an issue for black women in general, so if it continues go see somebody ASAP while something can still be done.
I had just posted a comment about covid before seeing this. I had covid at the end of December and towards the end of January I noticed more shedding. I had braids in and just thought it was because of that… but then I went to the hairdresser in Feb and she felt that my hair was thin and asked about shedding. Suggested that it might be because of covid 😩

Jess your beauty will always be astounding to me seriously😍 Before you do a protective style please do a tutorial on how to braid that way. Ive been trying to master that for years especially with one of your old old videos of you doing the goddess beiad. Mind you I can braid do box braids, twists, cornrows but I can only do it from the back not the front like you did 😭
You stressed and still making us laugh with "why yuh so tin?" 🤣 but I just went through this....it's gon be aite....just do what u know u need to do and stay calm and safe! ❤
I definetly feel you Jess with the iron! I literally was noticing that my hair was starting to look thin and then while I was stusying, I read that an iron deficiency can lead to brittle hair and it has been months since I took my iron consistently... So I chopped it off! It is frustrating!
I see in you what happened to me when I was severely anemic (hair color change and hair loss). You don't need to cut your hair and start over. You hated when your hair was short. You need to get back to taking your iron and building your blood back up. I really think you should see a doctor about your iron levels and vitamin deficiency. When my hair turned reddish brown and started falling out aside from the anemia I was also vitamin D deficient. I was surprised because I live in sunny Cali.
Yup!! I've been trying to pinpoint the cause of my hair colour change. From a deep black to a mousy brown/grey hue. I've been using Black Strap Molasses & Prunes (Copper rich). Also Copper anemia seems to be a'thing'. Symptoms exactly like Iron anemia.
I’m literally going through the same thing 😫 I just trimmed my hair for a fresh start and got a filter for my shower, as well as becoming more consistent with my vitamins. Praying this works!
Thank you for sharing jess, cause I know losing hair is scary (been there! 😰) It does seem like you lost more than usual once you showed the comparison, BUT I say don't panic just yet. Stick with your plan to wash more often, Take your iron pills and [hopefully] stress less.. I'm hoping that as you do your next few washes, it'll be like this one. Then, you'll notice your hair filing back out!! 🙏🏾 I'll be praying for you and your family and your hair too. ♥️
Stress, hormones and diet play a large part in hair shedding. For me, seeing a nutritionist and a therapist (that has an emphasis on prayer) helped a lot. A nutritionist can also help recommend diets and vitamins. Also a dermatologist can check your scalp if you need some ease of mind. Overall, breath you’ll get through this 💗
You have beautiful hair. It can be so many things like, hormones, stress, or even hardwater. But your comb looks like what I went through and it turned out that I was using too many different products from too many different natural companies on my hair. Now, I use simple basic staples that I know my hair likes and nothing else. Fixed it. No more chunks of hair coming out. I hope this helps. 🥰
Yes exactly stop using these over priced chemicals on skin and hair.If they are really natural and organic why can't you DIY. I make my own hair conditioners because of sensitivity products.
You are in my prayers Jess! I love you and appreciate your content. You have helped me to learn to love my own hair! Thank you so much. All the best🥰❤💙💜🙏🏾
Thank you for this video.. I’m sure you and your hair are going to be just fine! You have a lot going on right now and I’m sure that stress is not helping.. I know you will keep us posted 🥰💙
I heard clove water helps with that. Just put some cloves in water and let it sit 24 hours. Sift out the cloves and pour the water in a spray bottle. It's supposed to help with hair loss and hair growth. Use an oil to seal the moisture in. Several ladies are using it.
Yes I agree with that I just started clove water today and I made rose water. Added essentials oils and voila. Stress and low iron could be the factor. Along with not combing it in awhile. So it dried and lacking moisture.
the low iron and stress can result in the falling of your hair. as for the knots when you're washing your hair, that can be cause you need a trim, and since you aren't managing your hair very often so the shed hair gets built up so maybe that's why you lose so much hair during wash days, along with the brittle ends. it can also be protein overload on your low porosity hair, so try reading the ingredients of products. just try meditating and using your supplements mamas,i also hear that castor oil helps with thickening hair. it's like i can see the stress and pain in your eyes and it hurts me :( i really hope things get better jess
Jess I am with you 100% - stress, family issues, excessive hair fall (for at least 2months now), been trying to figure out what’s wrong. If I just simply do the prayer hands method gobs of hair strands just coat my hands. It’s stressing me out even more! And your cornrows always come out so NEAT and pretty and look so effortless. I can’t get two neat cornrows together to save my life when it’s in its curly afro state😂
Stress and the aftermath of Covid. I was hospitalized for a week with COVID and two months later I had a bad skin rash/discoloration all over my chest and arms and very dry skin on my face. And My hair came out like crazy. My hair is wayyy thinner than what it was. I lost a lot of hair on my sides. It's growing back..but it's a different texture that I do not like. My hair is slowly recovering and my skin is nearly back to normal. Prayers up Sis! Take some time out for yourself to Breathe and just do nothing!! You deserve it and need it!!
I would recommend going to the Doctor if you have serious concerns. My hair tends to change as well. Hair growth is great but my curls are all over the place and doesn't look uniformed anymore. I sorta gave up on my hair and wear sew-ins. Don't get me wrong, I love my natural hair but I don't have the energy to stress.
Ahh… Jess I feel you.. my hair was doing the same thing recently, had me emotional in the shower too. I can hear the little panic and frustration in your voice but it will slow down, no need to chop I don’t think. You s done the right thing putting it away in a gentle protective style. I’ve tried fenugreek seed water as a hair mask and it seems to have slowed my shedding on the last wash. Table tennis ball not an orange size. Keep us updated, Queen. Still beautiful. Hair goes through changes like skin and moods 😄💕
Hey girl, a few years ago I had excessive shedding and tried cantu leave in conditioner and it stopped after about 1 month. A miracle worker that product!
Hey Jess!! I see exactly what your talking about! My hair was doing the same thing!! I literally cut it so much, and I’m starting over lol. Also, don’t listen to the people being dismissive about it, like it’s no big deal!👏🏾💕💕
I’m going through a similar situation - my hairdresser told me though that it might be a side affect from having covid. I started noticing more shedding around January time and had covid towards the end of December
Girl you're gonna get through this, just continue to keep upon what's the cause. Also I just loove your content and your personality, your just so darn adorable and a natural beauty 💖 👑
I've been going through the exact same thing. So I know how you feel. Please keep me posted once you find out what may be causing this. Praying for you🙏🏽
As someone that does lashes I know we have two phases where hair all over our body goes through a more in depth shed period. And it’s during the fall and spring time.
Jess if it makes you feel better in going through the same thing in the exact same spot and it's 1000% stress related, make sure you take good care of yourself and your health. Promise your hair will recover ❤❤❤
The puff makes you do crazy things. I did a protective style that broke my hair and made my hair shed sooo much! I put my hair in a puff afterwards and booked an appointment with a barber!! I can totally relate.
Jess. I'm the one that's been struggling with shedding hair. I've big chopped 3x since 2020. Keeps growing back but literally breaks off even if I touch it. I feel ya!! No matter how many times I touch it..it literally just comes out in clumps. Like a chemo person. . The reason I chose this Avatar was its a representation of how my hair was. It's probably over half gone. I'm over it
Same with me I had big glorious hair till it all started shedding. I big chopped when I had a mental breakdown because I saw how much hair I lost. It’s still shedding and I feel so sad. I think it maybe PCOS too..
I'm going through something VERY similar. I recently made 2 major changes that seem to be helping: 1. I stop using a comb on wash day, and 2. I started using Doo Goo Hair thickening shampoo/conditioner < these two changes has helped a lot. I'm also taking vitamins regularly and I massage my scalp with a DIY coffee oil.
I am severely anemic as well. I started taking prescribed iron meds and changing my diet (added more foods with iron and fiber to help with constipation). I recently began using collagen peptides in smoothies with some protein powder as well. The collagen is suppose to help with your hair, skin, and nails. Ive stopped doing twist outs as I felt they were damaging my ends and strictly use wash n gos and I've noticed a dramatic difference! Praying for you sis stay strong 💪🏽💙🙏🏽
Stress will do it! Once things calm down and you get back to your normal routine, it will stop. Try to stay calm and don’t worry… yes easier said than done, but you can do it 👍🏾
Omg I experienced the same thing after covid!😢 I had omicron in late December 2021 and by early March 2022, my hair started shedding like crazy! Sweetie take a deep breath and pray over your family, you can't be worrying and stay in Faith at the same time, go back to your regular routine , you know how to care for your body and hair. Don't cut it just keep your moisture on point. Love you . From a grandma, stop speaking what you don't want. Like king David encourage yourself in the Lord.
My hair as been doing this too. I decided to go back to all my original habits before I got tied up in the natural world. I think we over do it sometimes and all your hair just wanna be is left alone and stay with one set or product. I went back to Cantu because even tho sometimes they get a bad rep it kept my hair moisturizer almost over the top. But our hair breaks due to dryness. I would rather my hair is heavy with moisture than dry and falling out. I feel your pain sis!
My girl Jess! I am with you. I have been experiencing more shedding than usual too. I almost fainted when I seen my hair loss. Saying to eliminate stress is kind of not helpful because stress doesn't go away overnight. But the best advice I can give to you is use a tea rinse! Green or black tea will eliminate shedding in ONE rinse. I've used it for me, my mom, and my cousin and we all seen instant results. Doesn't stop the stress but stops you from stressing about the hair loss. I pray you see this 🙏🏾 and try it!
The Black Queen song has made a comeback! 😂 But in all seriousness, Jess, it’s the stress more than likely…you have a lot going on! But check in with a doctor to make sure it’s not medically related
The same thing happened to my hair my senior year of college. None of my puffs would work. None of my styles came out well at all. I was losing sooo much hair and my hair NEVER had a bunch of tangles but it wouldn't stay detangled. I found that it was stress, depression, and a lack of sleep and water in my case. I cut it off after graduation and tried to address the stress, started taking more vitamins consistently and it got much better. Some of my curls are even coming back....but that's another story lol. I would say find ways to destress, check your eating, sleep, and water intake, and don't stress about it. It is easier said than done, but it really does help.
Girl I don’t know, honestly I’d go see a doctor if I was you. It could be stress and things like iron, however I think it’s just safer to find out from a professional what the problem could be. Especially because the shedding and thinning isn’t the first change. I found it pretty weird too that your hair was changing colour. It could just be stress, but hair also communicates a lot and rather safe than sorry right? I hope everything is okay. Your hair has been growing beautifully! ♥️
Hey Jess! I remember you saying in a previous video you had COVID. And hair loss happening about two to three months later is a side effect from having COVID. It’s called Telogen Effluvium. I experienced the same thing! It’s definitely a scary and confusing feeling. Experiencing it prompted me to start my channel because I didn’t feel like enough people knew about this.
@@sademeeks I read it’s because your hair loses a lot of its protein … I did a protein treatment. It did stop the shedding but it left my hair very thin. What did you do about your shedding?
Yes Jess I had low iron for a lot of years & my hair thinned ,shredded & wouldn't grow fast I've always had long hair so my Dr suggested iron infusions weekly so I wouldn't get nauseous and that method raises your iron levels quick and just like that my hair is back...please no stress just prayer & faith , you got this Jess Congrats on your engagement and new home. God is in control. Stay Blessed
Omg I experienced the same thing as well and it’s bugging me out!😢 I had omicron in late December 2021 and by early March 2022, my hair started shedding like crazy! Literally lost handfuls of healthy 4a-4c hair😫😫 it’s July 2022 and my hair has finally stopped shedding but my hair is sooooo freaking thin! Please look up telogen effluvium related to covid-19. Girl I’m in the same boat. Dealing with a toxic family situation, big life changes with a baby, 9-5, new business and possible move. My hair has not been flourishing like it used to. Take it a day at a time. Don’t be so hard on yourself and give yourself grace.
I’m a healthcare provider and the new shedding can be post covid related symptoms/hair loss coupled with overall stress ( stressors that we can’t name what that looks like for you).
Weird question did u have COVID within the past 4 months? About 4 months after I had COVID I LOST SO MUCH HAIR IT WAS JUST FALLING OUT BUT FALLING OUT IS EASIER TO RECOVER THAN BREAKING
Hi Jess. So sorry that you’re going through this. It may be multiple reasons as you and others have mentioned. Firstly, I recommend going to see your medical doctor ASAP. Low iron levels are notorious for having this happen among other things. This nothing to be taken lightly. Perhaps a higher prescribed dosage will work. As for family related stress, my wise advise is to try not to become too overwhelmed with everything, work on one thing at a time and the rest leave it God’s hands. You’re only person who could do but so much. Praying for peace for you in the midst of the situation.
Girl I just big chopped again from BSL to NL because my hair just wasn’t feeling right. It looked fine but it was tangling and didn’t act how it should. That was a lot of hair I cut yes but it feels amazing. If you want to big chop go for it, if you want to cut a little go for it, or if you want to repair and nourish, I support it all.
Definitely iron deficiency. The exact same thing happened to me. I only noticed i was loosing hair when it came to wash days and before I knew it my edges were thinning out. I ended up cutting all my hair off because I couldn't take the sight of the hair loss. I started taking blood builders and within 2 months my hair started to slowly grow back and more importantly, my hair stopped falling out. 6 months later my hair started to grow thick and full. I then fell pregnant and now I'm going through postpartum shedding.. Happy days. So I'm back to stage 1 however, I'm near the end of postpartum shedding.
I will be praying for you and your family, I most certainly know how that feels and it is tuff but just always remember that God has you and your family and just try to keep a positive spirit and outlook as much as you can and speak life and strength over you your family and yall situation and take care of you because if you aren't good then you aren't good for anyone else but I believe that you will be alright 🧡💛🙏🏿
I been though the same thing abt 3 years ago. I also have low iron. Hormones change as we get older. I've been lacking on my iron intake, once I got back on schedule shes back. U got this. 😊😊
I am in the same boat. I'm keeping my hair in protective styles (braids and locs) because if I don't, I'm going to turn into Edward Scissorhands. Being frustrated with your hair is a different type of frustration. You got this though sis. I will say tho..... If you cut your hair again, so am I lol. We gone regrow together.
Nothing is wrong. You’re getting married. A little stress is normal, but it’s all good. Many young ladies would love to be where you are at. Plus, your hair is no problem, it grows like a weed and just needs to shed. Relax baby girl.
Stress can do alot to us without us even realizing. Hard to say BUT try not to stress so much. The low iron you mentioned cud definitely be a factor as well. Your nice simple protective style looked so cute BUT I think you make every style look cute.
I just moved house too (to a real fixer upper) and that stress alone (also working with contractors when you have no clue what they’re talking about) is taking a major toll on my hair and skin 😩 I’m sure it’ll get better, but keep monitoring it throughout.
Jess beyond the various levels if stress you have just articulated, you obviously have a deficiency of some kind - why else would your hair be losing colour the way it has. Just go to the doctor run whatever tests and be assured that you healthy. Knowing and treating beats not knowing and not treating any day. Stay healthy girl. It could just be stress. I'd rather know there's nothing serious wrong than not know and stress myself to death...
When I wasn't washing my hair as often as I should (3-4 weeks between wash days) I collected what looked like enough shed hair to make a wig...but my styled hair looked fine. Stress and infrequent washings will make you notice LOTS of shed hair. The main thing is not to worry and give energy to it. Keep on living the beautiful season you are in.
Girl I felt the same way a few months ago. Like I felt my hair was thinning 😫My stylist told me we go through a shedding phase. Look at the ends of your shedding hair and see if you see a white bulb. That means it’s coming from your scalp and new hair is just coming through. If it’s not then you have breakage. If this goes on for more than a month you need to get your blood checked to see what’s going on. I also did a tea rinse which helped me. I wish you the best of luck. Try not to stress because it makes it worse.
Yes Jess!definitely your end looks super thin comparing to before. My hair is falling out as clump of hair on my crown area and it stop now cause I’m washing them twice a week and and I’m paying more attention to the crown area. You might need a trim.I’m still taking my vitamins but the stress overload is unbearable but I have to live with it right now.It is what it is 🤷🏽♀️
I'm going through the same thing I went to the dermatologist and had them do a biopsy and got a few stitches I got to get a blood test to make sure it's not my thyroid. They said it could be a stress alopecia but grows back. My entire crown is short and gone as long as tour scalp isn't tender or feels like it's super itchy. You look beautiful and you have nothing to worry about I look like Joe dirt my hair is literally falling out into a mullet
Girl you are so beautiful it's crazy. Your hair is falling out but keep taking your supplements. Very important. Stress will take out your hair so relax and reduce stress. Take care of it before it's too late. Do a deep treatment and be gentle with your hair. Girl u could go bald and still look amazing. Your hair is always an inspiration. Girl u fly AF.
Pull you hair and a low ponytail and cut 2 to 3 inches. Once you do that take a wide tooth comb a comb through your hair to see if they’re still any shedding. You should be fine if you are not having hair come from your scalp and it’s coming from the mid shaft it’s more likely you need a good healthy cut. Please feel free to ask any questions.
Your hair will be fine Jess!!! I definitely see the difference but it’s a minor setback 💙 maybe a small very small trim wouldn’t hurt but you don’t have to cut it!! Wishing new growth and blessings on you 😊
I went through this as well when my iron was really low. Hair came out in thick chunks. Once I got a regimen going my hair began to grow back healthy with minimal shedding. Low iron can cause hair loss unfortunately.
I Love that you did this video! I know and many of us have definitely been there a time or 2 in our journeys😭😂lol The reassurance and the perseverance was 100% motivating for me🥰!!!! Your hair is gonna Bounce Back Happy Healthy and Thriving with Extra Growth🥰!!!!! And What's Name of the Song in the Video❓👀🔥❓👀🔥❓👀🔥❓👀🔥❓👀🔥❓👀🔥❓👀🔥❓👀🔥❓👀🔥❓👀🔥❓👀🔥❓👀🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Trrrriiimmm. I experienced the same thing when shampooing, more tangles, ponytail, thinning ALL that. After my trim, ALL issues IMMEDIATELY STOPPED, my curls pop waay better now!!! Yoooo, Aunt Jackie's curl la la is the business, moisturizes really good, my hair isn't as DRRRRYYYYY as it use to be. But definitely TRIIIMMM
I know how you feel my natural hair does the same sometimes to you just have to clean it and put it in a protective style and wait for a while than do it again than itd start to grow more again
I am anemic and when my levels are low I shed bad. Stress will also do a number on your hair. You may not be eating well due to moving. Get some blood work and take care of yourself sweetie. You’ll recover nicely 🥰
😂😂😂 I had to laugh when you said google said you only had five days to live because my daughter does the same thing. I'm not your mom but can you and my daughter stay off goggle. 😂 😂 😂 😂
Jess you basically told us the reasons why your hair is falling out friend 🥺 eliminate stress. Take time to yourself ❤️
Exactly, nobody can take better care of you then You.
Nurse here: 100% low iron can = hair fall out. Take your supplements faithfully. Maybe even switch to liquid version to get your levels back up quicker.
I need to do this as well
Eat lots of food with iron in it what you put into your body effects hair
I have low iron but the pills I was prescribed make me feel horrible. Will definitely try liquid form. Thank you!
Fellow nurse here… 100% agree.
This comment made my day!!!! Thank you nurses.nurse's.. I will try liquid form!!
Girl you will be fine. Stress sometimes cause excessive shedding. Never Google health symptoms, you will be left super stressed. I hope you don't big chop it. Your hair will recover. You can still visit the doctor for a check up to make sure things are ok. All the best and take it easy.
I agree
This was my first thought too.
Agree
Never Google!!!
Love this advice
Increased iron, protein, and vitamin D should help. Could also be hard water in the shower, maybe look into filters for shower heads. Before you wash your hair spritz your scalp with either green tea or clove water and let it sit for about 15 mins. They’re DHT blockers or something like that and slow the shedding process and strengthen the follicles.
I was thinking the same thing about the change in water since she moved, a filter may not be a bad idea.
I said the same thing that water may be too harsh
wow i didn’t think of that. thank you so much!! 💗
I was going through something like this and I had to change my shower head and get a filtered one because I had hard water which was taking a toll on my hair. The time before that was stress related because I lost both of my parents back to back a year apart. My hair has since grown back.
@@sherriokere1192 Sorry for your loss 💛
Girl, I experienced the saaame thing after I had Covid. It just seemed like it was shedding more than normal, and everybody told me I was probably just trippin. So, I tried to ignore it. But, then I started looking at comparison pictures and started getting really concerned. It did not feel or look nearly as thick (especially the front) . It lasted for months, but it’s gotten better. Just try not to stress (cast your cares on the Lord), take your vitamins (brewers yeast is good for hair growth), and speak hair affirmations (Mark 11:24).
I have been crying all day. Got covid Feb 3 and today I experienced so much hair loss. How long did your hair loss last ? I am in such distress
Same here, I had Covid Mid December to mid January and I am still having extreme hair shedding especially when I wash it. The shedding has lessened, but it’s still more than my normal.
Yes, I also experienced extreme shedding , after I had COVID-19.
I didn't know this could be a result but apparently so....
We will be fine #hugs
Yes Covid is another side effect, irregular cycles lack even weird food allergies after cover exposure.
Same thing happened to me a few months after having Covid. Several people on different channels have had the same experience.

With or without hair u make any style look beautiful. Love yooou!!
You’re absolutely stunning, Jess
Hey Hun, sometimes stress can make your hair fall out . But you can repair it like you always do . I'm loving your intro song 💕💕
It’s the “Google “….. has me dying in 5 days for me 😂😂😂😂
Thank you for this video..
It works, I still do this to this day. Love it
Ok I'll be trying this
the low iron and stress can result in the falling of your hair. as for the knots when you're washing your hair, that can be cause you need a trim, and since you aren't managing your hair very often so the shed hair gets built up so maybe that's why you lose so much hair during wash days, along with the brittle ends. it can also be protein overload on your low porosity hair, so try reading the ingredients of products. just try meditating and using your supplements mamas,i also hear that castor oil helps with thickening hair. it's like i can see the stress and pain in your eyes and it hurts me :( i really hope things get better jess
Sis, you’re definitely not alone 😩. My hair is doing the same thing and I have no idea why . It might be time for a good protein treatment
It's the 2 second Jamaican language (why yuh suh tin) for me lol 😂 girl u killed me right there 🇯🇲
Hey girl, a few years ago I had excessive shedding and tried cantu leave in conditioner and it stopped after about 1 month. A miracle worker that product!
Natural hair so beautiful and yet so stressful. Do Whats best for you!
Hair is like grass, give it be little water, best thing you can do for your hair.
Really great job on your protective style! But I feel you on the hair shedding; I'm experiencing some of that too. Hang in there, as am I.
I love this young lady!!! Her energy is EVERYTHING!!!!
Praying for you🙏🏽
Also sending you a bigggg hug! You got this, girl.
I'm over it
Maybe like Jess you have an iron issue
Had the same issue. Ayurveda is a big help
@@tonie48 thank u ladies

Same with me I had big glorious hair till it all started shedding. I big chopped when I had a mental breakdown because I saw how much hair I lost. It’s still shedding and I feel so sad. I think it maybe PCOS too..
I had the same problem and went to see the specialist and they told me to take vitamin c, vitamin d, zinc, biotin and iron. Hope you get better.🙏
Try to stay calm and don’t worry… yes easier said than done, but you can do it 👍🏾
Covid causes hair loss. Let’s look into that ASAP-ly Jess! Love you boo. Congratulations and you’ll be just fine 💛💛💛

You’re so naturally beautiful, more beautiful without the makeup.
I feel you I have started over 7 times being natural stress, medication, diet, can all have an effect on our hair your hair will grow back Jess. 💓💜💯
This 🙏🏾❤️
Amen 🙏
It's the stress sweetie.... that will cause hair loss. My dermatologist advised me due to the amount of stress expect shedding within around 3 months.
My hair as been doing this too. I decided to go back to all my original habits before I got tied up in the natural world. I think we over do it sometimes and all your hair just wanna be is left alone and stay with one set or product. I went back to Cantu
because even tho sometimes they get a bad rep it kept my hair moisturizer almost over the top.
You're stressed hun, you're going through so many changes in your life so that's why your hair could be shedding alot.
Girl mine too 🥲 especially in the crown area I’m also considering a big chop
Experiencing it prompted me to start my channel because I didn’t feel like enough people knew about this.
yep. happened to me 2 months post covid. It's especially possible if you experienced fever with covid.
Oh my sister 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 praying for you. Love you. Hang in there 💓🌼🌸
Girl I’m in the same boat. Dealing with a toxic family situation, big life changes with a baby, 9-5, new business and possible move. My hair has not been flourishing like it used to. Take it a day at a time. Don’t be so hard on yourself and give yourself grace.
Sorry ...but take vitamins u be good . Trust me.
I was looking for this comment. I am hearing and have a friend who has been losing her hair a year later after her having covid.
@ Rye -What are blood builders?
@@Truth-N-Love0012 iron pills. There's a brand, Mega Foods, that uses that phrase blood builders as well.
Shoot, maybe I need to bone up on my iron
@@Tye710 jess said she has low iron so the person is just adding on to what she said
The same thing happened to me. Low iron equals excessive hair loss. Take your supplements and the density as well as texture will become thick again.
Lmaooo I said the same thing “if Jess cuts her hair I’m cutting mine” 😭
Tight braids until your eyes looks like Cat eyes is too Tight. Hair grow from our scalp not Yaki Hair!
@@binkydcocotea6444 What are you even talking about?? Nobody said anything about tight hairstyles.....Read my comment and try again.....
Nothing is wrong. You’re getting married. A little stress is normal, but it’s all good. Many young ladies would love to be where you are at. Plus, your hair is no problem, it grows like a weed and just needs to shed. Relax baby girl.
Is this a compliment😂?
Stress can do alot to us without us even realizing. Hard to say BUT try not to stress so much. The low iron you mentioned cud definitely be a factor as well. Your nice simple protective style looked so cute BUT I think you make every style look cute.
I just moved house too (to a real fixer upper) and that stress alone (also working with contractors when you have no clue what they’re talking about) is taking a major toll on my hair and skin 😩 I’m sure it’ll get better, but keep monitoring it throughout.
BREATHE! Self care is the key. I can hear the 😬 in your voice. Take some time for you.
Can you do a video on how you just did those braids for your protective style. That's what I want to do all summer!
You might need a trim.I’m still taking my vitamins but the stress overload is unbearable but I have to live with it right now.It is what it is 🤷🏽♀️
ugh, just went through the same thing smh... we'll be alright 🖤 ps- I was ctfu when you said "i've been watching FRIENDS lately" !
How often do you get a trim?
I know how you feel my natural hair does the same sometimes to you just have to clean it and put it in a protective style and wait for a while than do it again than itd start to grow more again
Heyy, french braids are my favorite protective hairstyle too
Love ya Jess! Everything is going to get better.
I am anemic and when my levels are low I shed bad. Stress will also do a number on your hair. You may not be eating well due to moving. Get some blood work and take care of yourself sweetie. You’ll recover nicely 🥰
