When there’s steam coming out while straightening it just means the heat protectant is doing it’s job….However, if you hear something sizzling and the hair is starting to stick to your straightener, now that’s a different story 🥲

Agreed. My daughter has ur exact texture and it’s not heat trained. I have pressed it on 400 and her hair is fine. The smoke is definitely from product especially if it’s oil…..
I agree. Don't You worry about that steam,, you are working at 425 degrees. You gonna see heat regardless. You did a great job clipping your own ends. Sometimes, not all cases, you get a scissor happy professional. Just keep doing little by little. It looks healthy. Great style!

Yes, flat iron in small sections.
Pass iron over roots twice. Ends only once.

Girl the gold series detangling milk is the TRUTH !! I’ve been using it for so many years and girl my hair loves it like it’s a drug. It takes like 2-3 pumps to detangle a whole half of my bed but we love moisture so I use more depending on what I’m doing to my hair

Yasss come on Jess with the length! I have thick coarse hair and I flatiron at least twice a year the most. As long as you have good heat protecter and don't use excessive heat while it straight you should be fine. The smoke coming from your flatiron is just from the products you use like the heat protecter.

yaaas your hair came out good! 👏🏾 I’ve only flat ironed my hair myself once about 5 and a half years ago and I’m like never again. I hate going to salons but that is the one thing (besides color) that I will leave to the professionals bc I’m just not confident nor patient enough to even try to do all that at home again 💀 at the very least I may be interested to try one of those other straightening tools that I’ve seen decent results from

Girl, u inspired me! I swear u haven't steered me wrong yet! I woke up this morning wanting straight hair and I decided to do a blow out/silk press on my hair. I don't use heat n my hair at all so I was so surprised at how long my hair is. I'm at armpit length! I've only been natural for 20 months and that's a huge accomplishment bcuz my hair was not even 2 inches when I big chopped.

When I see people flat iron their hair with ease I’m always amazed. I’m great at all other styles but when it comes to flat ironing my own hair it never gets as straight as I like. OAN, sis you hair grew back in a flash and more luscious and gorgeous. Resembling Keisha knight Pulliam.
