- Radiohead have been one of the most inventive and innovative bands of the last couple of decades. A band in which I had heard so much about yet never stopped to really listen to. I decided it was time for that to Change, I randomly picked the album "KID A" (2000) what an adventure I was in for. Join CavemanJack as we delve into the trippy story this album tells.

Your reaction to HOW TO DISAPPEAR COMPLETELY ---- so pure.
That song moved me so damm much
I use to listen to this album religiously, especially "how to dissappear completly" on the way to the hospital to see my dying dad for about a month.. this song is bitter sweet to say the least.
Imagine Everything In Its Right Place being the beginning of your Radiohead journey. So intense
Jonny Greenwood arranged all the strings for this album and others, he's the lead guitarist. He did a phenomenal job.
Nigel?
@@onedone2011 Nigel Godrich is their producer.
Edit: Unless of course Nigel did the strings for this album.
Definitely Greenwood doing the strings; he's also composed several film scores and was working with the BBC philharmonic.
@@FutureExitsMedia I've began listening to his scores, and I'm glad I did, he makes some really great stuff.
Yeah Jonny definitely arranged the strings. He did a LOT more than that. According to Thom the song Kid A was actually written by Jonny. Which means he probably did a LOT on that song, including playing the vocal melody with his Ondes Martenot which they ran Thom's voice through for that song. Yeah, Jonny did a lot on this album.
weirdly enough, people tend to not like this album on the first listen, but its great that you liked it, not exactly an album to start with, but with this down, every other for you should be very easily digestable
haha it was such a journey, I definitely gotta pick up the Vinyl of this. Im exited to check out their other work!
I liked it right off the bat and I wouldn´t consider myself a particular radiohead. Not an everyday record, rather one for special moments.
Except amnesiac or tkol! Lol
i listened to optimistic and on the FIRST time i listened to it it became my favorite song so easily alongside paranoid android
My dad raided my bag when I visited him when this came out and played it. I gifted it to him a year or two later and he’s still in love with it in his 70s lol
“It truely sounds like a moving art piece” is more astute than you probably realise.
Great reaction 👍
thank you so much for the watch and your kind words!
Damn, you hit the ground sprinting! This is like one of their least accessible albums. It’s so fucking good
Such a legendary project Blake, part of me is so glad I jumped straight in haha
You're probably gonna see In Rainbows and Ok Computer a lot (amazing albums) but my personal favorite is their most recent album A Moon Shaped Pool, it holds such a special place in my heart because of it's topics. When I was in the roughest part of my life a couples months ago, that album was there and as cold and depressing as the album sounds sonically, I somehow found comfort in all the tracks, idk there was just something about it, wish I could listen to it for the first time again, a lot of fans say it's their most gorgeous album sound wise and I agree. 11/10
That's what is incredible about music it can be complete personal for people, and can take you back to certain points or help work through difficult patches! I definitely have albums like that so thank you for sharing!
@@cavemanjack would love to see you react to A Moon Shaped Pool, It's in my top 3 Radiohead albums
I agree i started out just enjoying their earlier stuff, but their two latest albums are now my favorite.
Agreed. A Moon Shaped Pool is so so so good.
Hey yo! Sun Kil Moon. Ghosts of the Great Highway. Amazing content Jacka Boy.
"OK computer" and "In Rainbows", man..
I'm so looking forward to your reaction.
Love that you loved this, Kid A is awesome.
Can't wait! glad you enjoyed! Ok Computer will likely be next, not sure when, I want to keep digesting KID Aa for a bit longer then ill likely head straight into the next one!
@@cavemanjack sure, I can appreciate that!
You should start with the Bends then OK Computer which is the album before Kid A so you can see the insane progression this band went through and the incredible balls it took to make Kid A.
@@jameshannagan4256 Great comment!
Each Radiohead album is almost completely different from the others by the way, each are a different journey
That's what I love to hear!
Starting with KID A was so wild of you, but so much respect for you that you were able to listen to it critically! A lot of people find this one hard to digest, because it's so sonically trippy. Props, Jack!
Side note: There's an alternate version of Morning Bell on Amnesiac, and that version is very different. I think you'll enjoy it!
Thanks Loki! I had no idea what to expect, was so wild going through it and finding this incredible band! "How to disappear completely" is something else aye, such a moving song
seeing people react to national anthem never disappoints.
I've always thought the most criminally underrated song on Kid A is "In Limbo". If you ever see live performances of that song (a few exist on line from them), that is a STUNNING piece of work in terms of ethereal timing.
Thank goodness you didn't leave this planet having only heard Creep. This band is just unspeakably talented. It's so mind-blowing.
Agreed !
Kid A is when I started to realize how immensely great Colin Greenwood is - the magical element he adds (and continues to build and expand). Not to mention really understand how great a composer Jonny is.
Just pure magic!
I really appreciated that they didn't just do a sequel to OK Computer...which had been heralded as one of the most important genius works of that decade, along with Nirvana 'Nevermind', Pearl Jam, and Tool's Aneima. KID A had nothing in common with 'Ok', they took a whole new approach, and drew inspiration from German bleep minimalists such as NEU!, Kraftwerk, and Holger Zukay, allowing the guitars and basses to be a part of the electronic tapestry, instead of dominating with full chordal blocks that tend to dictate and lead the way of the harmonic arrangment in Rock composition. 'Paranoid Android' for example, was built entirely from the guitar chords and was probably written entirely on acoustic guitar. But with KID A, they made it very clear that they were creating an 'album' and the songs and production choices were carried out to serve the whole post-apocalyptic world of broken machines and broken people in an awkward alliance.
This was an excellent dive into the workings of Radiohead during their work on KID A. Thank you mark, I truly admire the courage they seemed to show when jumping to KID A, I haven't heard anything besides this and Pablo honey now but am super exited to hear the transitions between each album as I continue my journey through their projects.
Your reactions to how to disappear completely (and everything else) were perfect. Especially how you weren't necessarily saddened by how to disappear completely, but excited about how amazing and nutty of a song it was
Thank you that song really hit me and will always move me! Is really special as well as it was one of the first Radiohead song I heard, may end up being my favourite forever lol
@@cavemanjack that's fair. I can't wait till you get to hail to the thief though. My favourite radiohead song is on there lmao
@@theskullkid7443 there, there?
@@bubbyft3779 hell yeah
You're going to be suggested OK Computer and In Rainbows a lot and they're both amazing. My personal favourite though is Hail to the Thief.
Sounds like they have such a deep discography! Really appreciate you sharing your favourite album ! Would love to check it out one day !
They're like what you say to your kids, "they're all great and special in their own unique ways" or something to that effect.
Hail :
The Ultimate Dystopian Masterpiece
2 + 2 = 5
Wolf at The Door
Kid A is incredible, and the sound change from OK Computer is just as incredible, also every other Radiohead's album is incredible in its own way, each one is a journey
Brilliant album, would love to see you react to either 'in rainbows' or ' a moon shaped pool'. Both by radiohead
Agreed, Great album! The plan is definitely to listen to more soon, not sure when but their will be more Radiohead for sure!
or Atoms for Peace? ::: ( Live )
Really enjoyed your reaction! You are in for such a treat as you discover the rest of Radiohead's work...
Thank you Brian! I’m really exited to be taking that journey through their discography!!
@@cavemanjack thanx soo much that u opened ur mind for Radiohead,..that u r not bottled up with bias,..many people not able to understand Radiohead,.thumbs up
When they say there is a god they meant thom yorke
i had a friend listen to this album for (his) the first time. He immediately fell in love with it and listened to it 3 times in one day. He worked at a Top 40 radio station and had never experienced anything like it. I literally watched Kid A change a person's life.
That is so good! The power of music man
That was my favorite reaction to Radiohead ever.
Dan that is great to hear my friend, Thank you!
Where most records today are just a collection of songs, Kid A is an album. Kinda reminds me of Pink Floyd in how complete it is. Everything in its right place, truly.
Such a legendary album
you are in for an adventure my dude, radiohead is pure art
Honestly insane!
This album is a piece of art, will never get old.
PLEASE do OK Computer and In Rainbows! Loved the vid!
Adding them to the list my friend !!!
Yes and yes. Hell yes.
@@cavemanjack in rainbows is a closer album to kid a, ok computer being their less electronic album
I do love me some Radiohead! I'd highly recommend 13 by Blur; it's a journey. That band unfortunately never really got the appreciation they deserved
Hey! Another band I haven't heard of will add it to the list, may listen to on camera if not ill add it to my personal list! thank you for the comment!
@@cavemanjack Awesome, glad to hear it! Blur covered a ton of musical styles before they broke up and the singer started the Gorillaz
13 is fabulous,.i bought it with 13,.now im 35 and still diving deep in tbat record,.especially battle,.trimm trab,.1992,.trailer Park,..and my favorite caramel
Awesome video mate, took me a few listens to really take this album in. Impressive it clicked fit you immediately. Can't wait for the following ones
Thanks Oliver! I think going in I knew it would be trippy but I had no idea the places it would take me and I was so stoked with the sound and the journey it took me on ! Thanks for the watch !
Great reaction! Glad I found this hidden gem of a channel.
You picked a challenging record for your first Radiohead experience. Kid A was an album I could not fully appreciate my first few listens - it was unlike anything I’d ever heard before and there’s a lot going on. It’s like a fine wine that gets better the more you listen to it.
As others have mentioned, I would recommend The Bends (1995), Ok Computer (1997), and In Rainbows (2007) next. Personally, I feel it would provide more insight and context to start with the older albums first, to see their evolution.
The abrupt shift Radiohead took in their sound from the more commercial-friendly OK Computer to the challenging, often bleak and anxiety/depression-ridden Kid A (no guitars whatsoever until the fourth track) sent shockwaves through the music industry, and Kid A remains probably one of the most contentious albums ever released to this day; some love it, some hate it.
Thank you so much Jordan! im gonna be heading into their earlier work soon and I can't wait! Such a refreshing sound that I have thoroughly enjoyed trying to process and dive into! appreciate your insight and thank you for checking out the reaction!
This put a huge smile on my face, like getting to hear the album for the first time all over again. Glad you enjoyed buddy!
Discovered this album when I was 11 and it changed my life forever
I can't imagine what my brain would have done if I heard this at 11, so cool you could check it out at such a young age
Motion Picture Soundtrack reduced me to a quivering, bawling mess first time I heard it, glad it had a similar effect on you. My favourite Radiohead song and I don’t listen to it often to preserve that effect it has on me
Absolutely loved watching you experience this. So many great moments. What an album!
man I really want to see The National Anthem live, Johnny Greenwood plays a radio in the live version and it sounds awesome af.
It's crazy how Radiohead, even going by critical reviews and not personal opinion, could make a solid claim to having the best album in the 90s, 00s, and 10s.
When they release an album, it's not just an album release, it's an EVENT.
Im really hoping they have another album to come out one day!
Kid A Radiohead and VESPERTINE Björk top albums of the century
Still waiting for them to make the best album of the 20s.....
All RH albums rock and they all sound unique! Keep checking them out man!
Man I tell you such a Incredible project so exited for the next album !
@@cavemanjack They are the only band that I can think of that 8 of their 9 albums do not sound alike and all 8 after the first one is some fans favorite album. The are a lot of great Jazz and even Classical covers which you really do not see that much in a rock band although I would say that they are a genre unto themselves and they play everything brillantly live with no pre-recorded sounds. Seeing them live is something I would highly recommend the two stellar basement sessions is where I would go next start with In Rainbows from the basement with the added bonus that you can react to the whole session in full and it will not get blocked.
My 23 year old story of Radiohead loving began from Kid A. Which is kinda weird. Not Ok Computer (i was15 when it was released) but Kid A. Lots of people around me at the time thought i was a drug addict, because they thought no one in their right mind would listen to this kind of music. I was an author in russian version of New Musical Express magazine at the time, so it was hard to fight with those who adored new rock revolution with Strokes, Vines, White Stripes etc. But i fought bravely. They didn't even fire me.
Now, 23 years later, i'm a screenwriter looking forward to direct my first tv-show and i hope i can use The National Anthem in most tense moment of the show. Kid A made me see music in a whole different way and i will forever be grateful for it.
Greeting from Moscow.
Thank you so much for sharing! Real credit to you for sticking to your passions and you continued to push and promote their sound. Super exiting to hear about your tv show when it airs I would love to check it out!!!
Nice, hope the war don't fuck with everything
@@psicogames5509 it didn't. War can fuck up only those who let it do so. Songs, movies, culture - they do not fight and kill and i will never turn my back on western culture despite current political calamities between west and east. We're still people. We still like same stuff. We still want to live. So let's.
Please more Radiohead!
I’m definitely exited to listen to more projects by them!
So glad you decided to check out this album :)) I’d highly recommend going back to listen to Ok Computer, and then checking out In Rainbows, Amnesiac, The Bends and A Moon Shaped Pool. My personal favourite is Amnesiac (basically kid a’s twin)
I wish I could experience this album for the first time again. I literally felt my mind expanding .
Man, I've seen a lot of reactions from so many people, but believe me, this is one of the best. Your journey through the album was so pleasant for me to watch because it reminded me of what it was like to hear such masterpiece for the first time and I really thank you for this.
I'd love to see you reacting to more Radiohead.
I appreciate that, thank you so much, it was a joy to listen to and to share it and have such engagement from lovers of Radiohead means a lot me! I never expected this kind of reaction man! will be diving into some more albums soon, not sure when but I will for sure
I love seeing you take in Radiohead!!!!
If you like more Dark stuff, I highly recommend Amnesiac and Hail to The Thief. They fulfill that requirement in addition to being together with Kid A the albums that most define how unique this band is.
Im definetly going to check them out on the journey ! keen to hear that unique sound continue!
I needed this bro haha. Radiohead has been on my periphery for a while now and on the words of many that I trust in these things I know that ill love their discography. And here you are to take me through one of their albums and get it all happening! Looking forward to more Radiohead reactions!
Looved the feelings in how to disappear completely.
man what an array of feeling this album takes us on right! im glad to hear this was your first dip into their sound as well. I think its gonna be a great journey!
One of the greatest albums ever, thanks for reminding me about this beautifully dark masterpiece, glad you like it. Your reactions are so refreshing, I've watched Beyonce Kendrick Lamar and then this, it's so clear you love music. Cheers!
So good! so glad you have checked out a couple of the vids has been so much fun!
Really enjoyed watching you take in Kid A for the first time. When it first came out, it really was a challenge to take in due to it being such a new and unexpected sound from them. However I think because of the many bands that were inspired by this, 20 years later it’s probably not such a challenge. Have just subscribed and look forward to your further reactions from Radiohead and other bands! Keep going mate
Thank you so much Chris, really appreciate the support, im very keen for the journey into this sound!
Oh mate, what a first Radiohead album to listen to! Impressive that you dig it straight away, as a fan (and a guitar loving teenager) at the time going from Ok Computer to this was a honestly tough and if I'm being brutally honest it took me a few years to fully get what they're doing on this album, but now it's my favourite one, and it opened my eyes to other sonic possibilities in mainstream rock and elsewhere.
Once I get through the bends and ok computer I will start to see and understand how it must have felt for people going from these albums to kid A, So cool to hear that its now your fav
Please keep the Radiohead reactions going. Subscribed
Thank you for subscribing Joseph!
Not another album like this. The gold standard of art-alt rock. I bought this CD at the time right when it came out. I can listen to this now after over two decades and still have my mind blown by this album.
I reckon this album will always blow my mind
Mate, I've seen every Radiohead reaction on yt and this must be my favourite by far. I'm a musician myself and listen to new albums every day, but never have I heard something that's excited me as much as this band. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you so much Sebastian your comment is very kind, im so exited to keep diving into this sound and expand my music knowledge
I´m loving this❤
Great to see this. I’ve loved this band for a long time. I got to see them in Sydney about 10 years ago and they were so good! Highly recommend Thom Yorkes new project, The Smile. It’s my album of the year so far.
Thank you! they would have been insane live, Wonder when the last time they toured was? will have to check The Smile out for sure.
It's such a wierd first experience to wrap your head around. Loved your reaction, great video
Glad you enjoyed it! was so trippy I agree haha!
_Kid A_ was the _Nevermind_ of the 2000s, a major influence on the sound of the decade. Great reaction. More landmark albums for the _Kid A_ fan:
Pink Floyd _Dark Side Of The Moon_ (1973)
Slowdive _Souvlaki_ (1993)
Suede _Sci-Fi Lullabies_ (1997)
David Bowie _Low_ (1977)
Depeche Mode _Black Celebration_ (1986)
Thank you so much for the watch and your comment, wow I have missed out on some landmark albums!
Good choices. Going off at several tangents, I certainly think you should listen to the anniversary editions of The Beatles White Album ( I could have chosen Sgt Pepper or Abbey Road) and Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix. Also Mezzanine by Massive Attack, Mingus by Joni Mitchell.
@@cliffhughes6010 So many projects that I haven't checked out! Thanks for sharing
…chuck klosterman in his book ‘killing urself to live’ wrote a whole section describing how this album is the soundtrack for 9-11…he goes hour by hour and lines up each song to that day.
…pure genius.
Pure joy watching you experience Kid A! Such an insightful reaction for such a deep and experimental piece of music. I will always remember the first time I heard this album and it was moving.
I would highly recommend these radiohead albums
- OK Computer ... A brilliant dystopian journey
- In Rainbows ... An experiment in rhythm
- A Moon Shaped Pool ... A beautifully haunting album
Those would be my next top 3 however I would recommend to take to the time to hear all their music.
Cheers!!

Thank you so much Stephen, I really appreciate your comment mate. Im so exited for the next album, am gonna check it out very soon!
While I wish you went in order, cause the evolution of Radiohead is something to experience, I'm grateful you appreciated one of my top Radiohead albums.
Great reaction to an incredible album, really enjoyed it. I noticed that you have stated that you will listen to some Radiohead albums offline, but I REALLY would love to see you react at some stage to OK Computer (album before this one) and In Rainbows at the minimum.
Definitely OK Computer, there is a reason it is so acclaimed.
'How to Disappear Completely' is one of my all time favourite songs, glad you appreciated it
Each album is so different
Cheers from South Australia
Cheers Brian! im super exited to check out OK Computer, how to disappear completely I believe will hold a special place for me for quite some time and will always take me back to this first reaction. Truly took me on an incredible journey. Thank you for watching mate!
Great reaction... I will join u on your Radiohead journey .. from the start I have been with them .Radiohead is a part of me but similarly later on Tame Impala .. please do a similar journey with them.. you already started with Lonerism.. which is kinda similar to have started with Kid-A 😆. thanks..
Great reaction man, really enjoyed it. I would start at The Bends (1995) and do the albums in order from then.
Thanks Steve, I would like to listen to all of them, some on the channel and some will likely be off the channel. Thank you for the comment man really appreciate it !
Oy mate! I would give anything to be able to go back and listen to Radiohead for the first time. So being able to watch your genuine and worthy reactions is the next best thing.
glad you enjoyed the vid mate!
Brilliant video, mate! As the others said, OK Computer and In Rainbows are considered the other top tier Radiohead albums alongside Kid A, so those should be awesome listens. They've got some other gems like The Bends and A Moon Shaped Pool, too. Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you so much mate! They have such a rich discography I'm in for a treat!
Not that I really like ranking, but for me it's In Rainbows > Kid A > Amnesiac > Ok Computer
Welcome bruddah. You got a journey ahead of you. Make sure you hit all the albums, b-sides, Thom's solo stuff, etc.
SO much good stuff to check out!
New sub, going through the Radiohead reactions atm (loving you discovering their genius) and randomly thought during National Anthem, if you dig horns check out Brass Against the Machine.
I'd recommend, now that you've gotten exposure to where Radiohead goes quality wise, you should start from the beginning and go through their whole discog. You won't regret it.
I definertly want to go through it! Not sure if ill react to all of them on camera but am very keen!
Can’t wait to see you react to the rest. You’ll be impressed
Im very exited!
Dude bro your reaction to EVERYTHING IN ITS RIGHT PLACE made me tear up. I love RH so much. Thank you for sharing your pov and finally listening to the best band of all time.
My pleasure!! really appreciate your comment, im so glad I FINALLY check them out haha!
Those first four notes of Everything in its Right Place are haunting yet so intriguing
A couple of things; 1. Great reaction! many have said it already, but this isn’t exactly the easiest first Radiohead album. 2. I really admire your interactions with the comments. It’s nice to see a creator actually engage with viewers. 3. I haven’t seen anybody here mention it yet, so I will. Treefingers, despite what you may think, is 100% guitar work and isn’t actually a synth. Just a nice fun fact for you!
Thank you so much for your comment, I love engaging in discussion about music and seeing everyone comment on this video has been so heartwarming. Such a great project and have loved hearing peoples thoughts on it! Tree fingers is so trippy and I never would have guessed that fact, thank you for letting me know!
literal studio in the background hears a bass opening the song : ''heavy guitar coming in'' dude what?
That kind of reactions I had 21 years ago when I first listen this masterpiece. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it! was so much fun
Love the vibe in the full album listens, from a random 37-year-old dude from New Hampshire, USA you got a subscriber!
Thanks Nate, glad you enjoyed the KID A reaction, so fun going back and watching this video now after I have checked out both Pablo honey and the bends
The look of wonder during ‘How to Disappear’ is the one I still get.
I encourage another listen of Kid A. This time, on your own, laying down on your bed, closed eyes in a dark room. I like to think the album is split in two halves. Tracks 1-4, 5 is a palette cleanser for 6-10. Like you, Kid A was my first full album experience of RH & I didn’t know what to expect. It has become my fav album of all time. Loved the reaction! As others have said, Ok Computer or In Rainbows should be next!
I will definitely take your advice and do this! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the album, I like your take on the two halves as well!
Amnesiac is the sister album of Kid A, Definetly a must listen if you enjoyed this one
Thanks Nico! Will check it out in some form for sure! either on or off camera its on the list!
The sound landscape of this record is so incredible but you really should have really started from the beginning so you could have seen the quantum leap they took from album to album. Their journey was very Beatles-like that is the band I most compare them too. You missed the shock that this album caused I actually stopped listening to them for years after the album that came out after this one which was recorded in the same sessions. They pissed me off with this record because I wanted OK Computer part 2 and I got this I hated it. Years later after seeing the basement session for In Rainbows I revisited all their work and was stunned by how amazing their discography is needless to say I loved this record when I was ready for it. Radiohead is the only band that I love almost all their music and the handfull that I do not love I can still appreciate the ideas that went into it even their b-sides.
I was the same.
Why change from ok computer and the bends?
But this what sets them apart.
Will go down as the greatest jazz band of all time
I love seeing people enjoy new music. Since you enjoyed this I highly recommend listening to In Rainbows next (in my opinion their best record)
Thank you for watching!!
Lovely stuff! Your next Radiohead albums should be The Bends, then In Rainbows (for a kinda slingshot back to their past then landing on a later album)
As for others albums that take you on a journey, may I humbly recommend...
Mew - And The Glass Handed Kites
Midlake - The Trials Of Van Occupanther
Cheers
Forgot to add...
dEUS - The Ideal Crash
Normally i and most other people wouldn't recommend Kid A as an introduction to the band since it's so wildly different from their other albums. Glad you enjoyed it still
Thank you Hugo, appreciate you checking out the video!!
My favourite Radiohead album. Great reaction.
Thank you !
SO perfect. No words .
With Radiohead as my favorite band, Kid A is my favorite album ever... It's just so perfect. And In Rainbows and A Moon Shaped Pool come relatively close. They're close enough to warrant videos.
Such a special band! Very keen to be checking out those projects soon, I have my ok computer reaction coming out tomorrow! im super pumped to share that one!
Wish I could hear Kid A for the first time again.
Same haha
Took me 23 years to find someone to appreciate this so much. Can't wait for more.
Thank you so much for the watch and comment!!
A moving art piece is the best reaction I’ve heard to this album. Trippy trippy.
Welcome to your next music life caveman.
You will disappear completely, find yourself in limbo , but stay optimistic as you soon discover everything in its right place. You will not see their version of the national anthem in any motion picture soundtrack, but you may have bad dreams of tree fingers. May kid a rouse you before the morning bell.
They will go down as the greatest jazz band of all time.
Ps Best amaze face to a set of harp strings Eva!
glad you enjoyed the Vid Anthony, this was my first dive into Radiohead feels like so long ago now, but man what an album to start on
In Rainbows or A Moon Shaped Pool would be amazing and I think you'd love both of those, they feel like yin and yang to each other musically even though they aren't related to each other in the slightest. Also Ful Stop from A Moon Shaped Pool is the most Radiohead type shit ever, that tracks one of their best imo
Im very interested in A Moon Shaped Pool so super keen for when I get to it!
Great selected. This is a master piece. Underlines your musical skills. Thx! Now please go for The Smiths
Thank you so much! Someone introduced me to the Smiths last week and wow they really blew me away!
I'd go for Amnesiac next, it came out about 9 months after Kid A and it's mostly tracks recorded in the same sessions.
FUCK YEA.
Let’s goooooo!!
Love to hear your take on Elbow. Build a Rocket boys! would be a great place to start.
Oooh never heard of them! Thanks Daniel
@@cavemanjack the seldom seen kid too :) amazing album
Looks like we have another new Radiohead fan!!! I would highly suggest going back and listening to their albums in release order starting with The Bends, which is far too often overlooked in Radiohead discussions. I'd argue it's the best way for anyone to truly grasp how much this group has evolved over their careers and just how experimental and indefinable they are as a band.
Given how much you loved How to Disappear Completely and Motion Picture Soundtrack, be on the lookout for Pyramid Song, these three songs, while very different, all have that indefinable haunting, meditative, eerie, angelic and symphonic quality, that is truly special and at least to me defines the absolute best of Radiohead, another track to keep your eyes open for is Street Spriit, which in many ways you can tell was a precursor, for these 3 spectacular tracks!
Also wanted to take a second to recommend 2 other groups and several songs also based on your reaction to How to Disappear Completely and Motion Picture Soundtrack, as I think it a really strong indicator of finding these next 2 groups and several songs, simply mind blowing. They too are UK based groups and like with Radiohead are among the most influential musical artists over the last 30 years, of course I'm referring to, Portishead and Massive Attack! The 2 most prominent names in the Trip Hop genre, now unlike everyone who is going to tell you to listen to Angel, Teardrop and Unfinished Sympathy from Massive Attack, I'm not; not because they aren't great tracks but simply, they're the only 3 tracks anyone ever reacts to. I am instead going to encourage you to check out their tracks Black Milk, Dissolved Girl and Group Four to get things rolling. As for Portishead, you can't go wrong with their songs, Roads, Glory Box, Western Eyes, Humming and Only You, if you dig their sound and vibe or if you come across them while looking for videos, I will tell you now to prioritize listening to tracks recorded from their concert at Roseland NYC, where they have a full philharmonic accompanying them on stage, Roads, Glory Box and Only You are phenomenal as is the entire concert which should not be missed or skipped!
Wow! thank you so much for going into such detail and depth, I will be on the lookout for both the pyramid song and street spirit, I have never even heard of trop hop before and this new sound has been incredible diving into. we have such incredible music out there its people engaging in discussion like this that makes hearing new music possible, Thank you again!
@@cavemanjack sorry about the typo, that was supposed to say Trip Hop, it a blending of hip hop, blues, jazz, psychedelic rock and lounge!
@@po5283 Now that sounds like a genre I would love!
This video marks the first time hearing htdc in a long long time, and it's brought me to tears, just like the first time I heard iy
Such a legendary song, will always move me!
One of the few bands that makes me react to music like I did as a child.
Sadness made to sound beautiful - stick with them they are worth the journey.
Was truly such an incredible album! Like I said I don’t think I’ve fallen into a album quite like I did with this one ! Thanks for watching
hearing how to disappear completely for the first time is special, especially the opening
Honestly Ben, something ill never forget
@@cavemanjack , this whole album transported me to a mythical world where everything felt real and perpetually intense
Tom cruise's vanilla sky introduced me to Radiohead when I was like 11... It was an awesome Discovery.
If you like futuristic sounding albums you should check out Fantastic Planet by Failure, also please check out Frames by Oceansize. I really loved your reaction to Kid A. As a longtime fan of Radiohead it was great to see you getting caught up in the whole experience.
Thank you for your recommendation, checking this project out was a pure joy!
Great reaction man! You just earned a new sub 👍
Thanks for the sub William, really appreciate it brother
And another. :)
In Rainbows! I fell in love with Radiohead 1995 and never stopped.
Hell yeah!
The correct reaction to “Motion Picture Soundtrack” that song tickles my soul.
I would give another plug for In Rainbows. It took me about a year to really start to appreciate that one. It was jsut so far ahead of its time that I had no context to listen to it at that time. I love it now though.
Very keen to check in rainbows out at some point soon :)
