  • Well we have finally made it to potentially the final Radiohead album and what a journey this has been, I have been so grateful for finding this band and their amazing work. Going through Radioheads discography over the last year has been one of the funnest things I have done in my life. Thank you to everyone who has been apart of the journey with me! On todays video we dive into the bands latest work "A Moon Shaped Pool" An album that I had circled for quite some time. Join me as I finally sit down and check out this epic project.
My name is Jack and I love music, in particular Hip Hop, I decided to make this channel as a way to engage with other music lovers and because there doesn't seem to be a lot of reaction channels on UA-cam...My goal has always been to be open to all types of music regardless of my love of Hip Hop, on this channel you can expect a rich array of genres. If you're keen to join me on my music journey then please subscribe, if you ever want to give your thoughts on an album or song that I have reacted to, then please do. I want this channel to be a community and if you love music of any genre then welcome!!!

Fun fact: this album begins with the word "stay" (Burn The Witch) and ends with "leave" (True Love Waits). It felt so perfect but also bittersweet

    • @Arawn505
      @Arawn505 6 місяців тому +10

And even further: it starts with "Stay in the shadows" and ends with "Don't leave"
It's possible that this was in reference to Thom Yorke's break-up with his longterm partner, who was battling cancer at the time. As in, stay in the shadows (more in the background, but still present) but please don't leave us.
(I dont know for sure if this was actually the meaning of these lyrics, or if it was just a coincidence)
Sadly, his partner didn't make it and died at the end of 2016

AMSP is the most well-orchestrated Radiohead album in my opinion. It used old sounds in a new way, and with Jonny Greenwood being the garlanded composer he is now, it still gives me shivers every time.

LETS GOOOOO JACK!!! We made it! So happy you finally got here and I'm just happy you're a fan listening to this since the context of their old stuff is so nice. I feel like this album takes everything about them - glitchy, orchestral, ethereal, manic, beautiful, tragic - and rolls it into their most mature and solid album IMO. Only just started the video but hope you enjoy man.

I've said it on other videos, but AMSP is the only Radiohead album that took me a couple of listens to "get", but one day I was just in this very introverted sad mood, decided to listen to this album, not sure why, and it just clicked. I finally learned the lesson that many others have had to but that I never needed to: Radiohead and their albums only ever grow on you. I still feel so dumb for feeling so underwhelmed my first listen. Such a beautiful album. And big love to Nigel Godrich, who's been their producer and engineer since OK Computer all the way to this album, and true fifth member of the band, always pushing their sound further and making their songs sound exactly as weird as they should be!

I was lucky to see Radiohead before they released Pablo Honey and they've been my favorite band since then. I absolutely loved your review of this album..you don't hold back and it was so good to watch. Subbed!!

I was so young when this record came into my life, but I was in the perfect moment to understand everything, the grey and dark atmosphere filled my broken heart.
I am very very happy to have concluded this journey with this last album and this last song from this magnificent band that brings all of us together with you Jack, it has been a pleasure. Long live Radiohead 🤍🤍🤍

So fun watching you have the same facial reactions as I did on first listen! It gets better and better with each re-listen, guaranteed. The Numbers and Desert Island Disk are phenomenal and quickly became my new RH favorites. All tracks are classic "best thing" about RH in my opinion.

Ah man, that’s it, the journey is over! You're all caught up and it's been great reliving the Radiohead back catalogue with you. I love this album, its up there for me as one of their best, sometimes the best. I’m lucky, it got me hooked straight away, others it takes a couple of listens but once you are there it’s another masterpiece. Johnny & to a lesser extent Thoms, work in the movies really comes through in their later works, this album especially. Brilliant musicians, playing brilliant music, what’s not to love eh?! Theres no way this is the end of Radiohead, theres another album coming, I'm sure of it.

Great video again. I recommend listening to their side projects, I recommend going chronologically on it, Yorkes the eraser is pretty similar to Radiohead but he starts to seperate his sound from Radiohead on Tomorrows Modern Boxes.
This is my favourite Radiohead album by a mile too by the way.

My one suggestion is listen to Spectre. It was recorded around these sessions for a Bond movie and it was rejected and they just popped it out as a random single. And it's, for me, amongst their top songs

I'm late to the party but I am taking this journey with you, reviving my love for Radiohead. I will say that I did not get into King of Limbs when it first came out. Now that I listen again, I realize that I've been missing out this whole time. Hoping to find the same connection with A Moon Shaped Pool.

Desert Island Discs is a weekly radio programme on BBC Radio 4 which has been going for a really long time, it has a different guest each week and they have to choose things they'd take with them if they were stuck on a desert island, mostly music. Pretty sure that's the origin of the title for that song, Thom Yorke has been on it before.

True Love waits has actually been around since like 1995, only played at live shows and was a fan favorite. It was written around the time he got together with his ex-wife, who he was with for 23 years. They divorced, and then the next year this album was released, and later that same year she passed away. It's really a heartbreaking listen with that context.
Present Tense was also around for quite awhile with very few live acoustic performances since 09, and Burn the Witch was known only by a snapshot of the title and lyrics in a journal or something like that, from back in the early 2000's. Us B-sides and rarities fans were eating good with this album.
