This is honestly the direction I’d love to see more EVs going in, instead of having so many SUVs (especially ones the size of the Kia EV9)
Really hope more manufacturers come out with estate/wagon EVs, as well as EV MPVs/minivans
BMW 230(?) MPV is built on the same platform as the X1; they could have done an MPV EV buy must have felt SUV/crossovers were what they could sell. Pity.

I saw both cars in BMW World. And the iX2 looks really good in real life. I didnt like the pictures too much, but I was really surprised.

I would prefer that the Touring/Estate/Variant cars would have a more "boxy" rear, just like the good old Volvo V70 from the 1990's or even the Passat, that gives it much more room and it is easier to have longer and taller items in the back, These "shooting brake" sort of rears on a variant is wasted in my opinion
Yes, boxy trunks are excellent means for sponsoring the power companies. Why not just electrify the Volvo 240, while we're at it? Wonder what drag coefficient that had?

BMW's cars with even numbers should be the stylish ones and the odd numbers are for classic (practical) cars. That's way this iX2 has back shaped like coupe. It is more focused on style than practicality.

@@jaturnley - You guys are lucky in that regard. A Porsche costs half the price of the same car in Norway. The i5 Touring costs almost 1.5M NOK or ~ 150K USD in Norway, and it's not even paying 100% of the fees yet.
@@eddiehaugYikes, I thought they were overpriced here. We almost certainly won't even get the Touring here, but I can't imagine it would cost more than $120K US for the top end with all the options if we did.

It has the same low voltage as the iX1; 320V makes for underperforming charging on sub 150 kW chargers, especially those 50 kW ones where you can only draw 38kW. I have one, it doesn’t matter most of the time in town -in long journeys you have to aim for the 150 or better 350 kW chargers. since the 359 kW charger banks in the Uk tend to me more reliable and have more charge points than the older stuff -that’s really what you should be doing in any EV
I just played around with the BMW online configurator. With M package and some useful extras (for me) I'm currently at 61.160 Euros.

I5 touring as 4 wheel drive starts at 107000€ the same car as Diesel (I know) only at 65000€ wtf???

@@andreasbingkilvr6662 I disagree as I see it is more important especially in Europe that street charging can be done using the included 5m ac charging cable than to save a few steps DC charging. That is just me and many car manufacturers.

What is the point of having an open shelf under the small centre arm rest that can be seen from the window. Everything has to be hidden or thieves will break into your car to steal ANYTHING.

Bjørn, to be honest I have to do a bit off swearing here 🤬😅...nobody packs up their "shit" in banana boxes! I was just in my summerhouse with my family of 4 people with 4 sportsbags, food, wine, boots, jackets, some tools, a new lamp and some other stuff. The boot is 490 Liters in the sedan, so it is not small. It is just not square, but if you pack it like normal people (not using banana boxes) then we could easily fit the same stuff we also had in my previous BMW iX3 😄 - personally I enjoy the sedan more than a stationwagen, after I have been driving around in family wagons for 20 years. But of course if you have babies with trollies and stuff, there is no way around the stationwagen version 😉
What do you use, if you want to move a sh!tload of items; shoe boxes???

I get why it can matter for some people how boxy the shape of the boot is, but for most people it is the actual space available. So when Bjørn tries to win a few cheap LIKES by taunting the sedan version I think it is in its place to bring this up.

@@Danne89 no one, thanks.I had the BMW ix 50 for 2 months and i can say that EV it's so far from a real use in a real world when you have do drive for almost 5k km/month. I also covered around 7000km with a BYD Atto 3 and same, not for me. Sales data in the world It's also confirming the trend, no one need EVs cars, even major rentals companies dropped EVs from the fleets due to depreciation and high maintenaince costs.
