What a great How-To video. Simple and entertaining. I'm glad he chose to re pin the plug instead of splicing another plug to it. It should prove to be more reliable in the long run. Makes me wish I didn't have such a mistrust of electronics tho. :)
Thanks for the video. Those actually look pretty awesome ! BTW, I installed the Analog Speedometer/Tachometer on my Fat Bob (Part Nr 74776-11A). Not sure if it will fit your bike (I think the sporties take a 4" guage) but it apparently has 1.3 billion different color combos because the odo, taco and needles can be different colors and it has every shade of every color in each color category. So it will definitely have the blue that is on those caps.
I have the flush mount gas cap and gauge you installed here. Recently my gas cap is not turning to pop up as it should. When the cap is on and popped down, I can barely twist the cap to pop it back up. likewise, when screwing the cap on, after securing the cap in place, I push it down and have trouble twisting to lock the cap down in place. Is there a lubricant that I can use to make this twist more freely? I tried WD40 with no success. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
looks cool I like the blue lights and sounds like you're going to swap out the speedo for Dakota digital it should all look really cool when you're done
Probably a dumb question but what is the left hole for originally? I'm looking at getting a 2016 fort-eight which only has one port on its peanut tank. Would this work on it?
XXXDeadhead what was the point of removing the rear gas tank bolt and raising the tank ? The connector is just under the tank no need to lift am I missing anything ?
Great vid and Im planning on this install on my Street Bob as well. How tough was it getting the factory gauge popped out of the top of the tank? Did ya just twist and lift it?
Lmao .. Gabe ... man of few words ... hehe .. I doubt I'll ever care for a fuel Gauge .. it's like my spedo .. I never look at Em .. do have a fuel light on the vstar which is nice .. so unlike the buell I don't have to wait till the bike shuts off then switch to reserve .. that was always fun to lol...
So..... with the old gauge, just 1/8 turn counterclockwise, and pull up? I accidentally turn it from time to time when I'm buying gas. I never knew how it came out.
and then he pushed the start button and nothing happened and there was an awkward silence followed by a bunch of swear words in at least two languages before he realized XXX unplugged a fuse or something... :P
just for next time or others who want to do this kind of stuff you can buy a little tool for a couple of bucks that will pop those pin out without a headache

I dont get it,, thats a vintage looking bike, ,why would you try to make it look high tech?? lol I like the old school look of mine, I particularly like the blade on the tape ,, on the tank,,, lol hack o rama
I paused watching your old videos to watch your new video. Keep em coming.
Cycle Fever Awesome - will do!
Great final look. If possible it'd be nice to see some more vids like this from you and Gabe.
Will do!

Thank you!
That fuel gauge is pretty awesome, nice addition to the bike bud!
Now that is a slick look!
I agree
That is a totally sick set up. Digital speedo is going to look great. Awesome idea to you marked tape! Ride safe bro.
Yeah I like it! We are both looking at Speedo replacements now
That video came out great man. Hopefully soon we can do part 2 when I get the speedometer 😁
Thanks - I agree! Unfortunately the fork video may not make the cut - will try to finish that one up soon enough

Yeah, that's the speedo I want for my bike - Gabe doesn't like it though, wants all digital. Love the color options
Great How-To / DIY viddi-yo !!!
This will help peeps for years to come !!!

Looks good. That streetbob has come a long way and really looking good now with all the mods :-)
I agree
I was looking to install this on my fatbob.... It looked good in the pictures.
Looks like I will be having a mechanic install this on my bike LOL!
+1
Nice how-to, man! They look sharp.
MrSlowestD16 Awesome to hear that - I always feel awkward when making how-to videos
looks cool I like the blue lights and sounds like you're going to swap out the speedo for Dakota digital it should all look really cool when you're done
Way - we think it will look really cool once finished (if ever really finished)
hopefully before the Yosemite trip. It'd be cool to see
Excellent tuto. très beau.
Love your videos. You guys are awesome.
Peter Fryer Thank you very much!
having the same set up going on my new 17 dynamic low rider s! looks great!
dyna
stan harp nice - yeah, looks sharp
Nice install!
Must admit they do look cool
harleyman5521 we later changed the grips and now he feels like the bike is the right mixture of chrome and black
Love it.
Cool video. Are those Harley handle bars or aftermarket? They look cool
Aftermarket - can't remember the brand name :(

XXXDeadhead what was the point of removing the rear gas tank bolt and raising the tank ? The connector is just under the tank no need to lift am I missing anything ?
Think it was just to offer more room for movement (less cramped)
OMG, I need to get those caps for my road king
Prior to the install we both felt that the street Bob had to much chrome... With this and some new grips we both agree that the bike looks balanced
I'm ok with a bit of Chrome - but he'll yeah to the black chrome
Good vid. Did you need to drain tank and disconnect your battery? 👍
Great vid and Im planning on this install on my Street Bob as well. How tough was it getting the factory gauge popped out of the top of the tank? Did ya just twist and lift it?
Yeah, super easy
great video??? really??
@@guglielmodicarlo4139 yes #troll it is.
It looks like he's deliberately not showing you the gauge ! Which I think would have been a really big help. I just started watching
Is this fuel gauge more accurate with a tank lift, looks sick
Awesome! I need one of those. Where did you buy it?
Ivan Alba Think he found it on Ebay - but I bet you can order it from the Harley Website!
Lmao .. Gabe ... man of few words ... hehe ..

Mind telling where you got your bars and front turn signals? Thanks!
So..... with the old gauge, just 1/8 turn counterclockwise, and pull up? I accidentally turn it from time to time when I'm buying gas. I never knew how it came out.
That sounds right... Was a while ago that we did this so I cannot remember fully.
Like to have a fuel gauge on my sportier do not now if they do one ? good vid rsm
They have some options!
They do, but you'll also have to buy the fuel level sensor. Not sure how much that costs but I'm guessing around 40 bucks.
I have a look in to it thanks mate
how's the gas cap adhesive hold up
So far so good!
So you had some time to ride with The gas cap does it leak at all??
we never saw a leak from it
and then he pushed the start button and nothing happened and there was an awkward silence followed by a bunch of swear words in at least two languages before he realized XXX unplugged a fuse or something... :P
Haha sounds like a great idea for the next video :)
XXXDeadhead you know it'd take him a while to figure it out too
what mirrors are you rocking?
what kind of bike is the XXXDeadhead
+Kyle Calvo Its a FXDB Dyna Street Bob
+Kyle Calvo Dyna street bob
Has anyone had an issue with the fuel gauge accuracy?

just for next time or others who want to do this kind of stuff you can buy a little tool for a couple of bucks that will pop those pin out without a headache
