OH!!! to keep people from thinking you are a weirdo you should put a Google logo on it and people will think you are taking Google map images! xD
I can see this having some great security applications, thanks for sharing.
I can see estate agents adopting this, 360 degree online house viewings.
+mick walker That's the first thing I thought of as well.
They've been doing that for a long time...
+micks Allotment This is actually what I'm looking to use mine for.. well basically, just for renting our property on Airbnb
+micks Allotment Well it's kind of bad for that because of fish eye effect :D
yes, but don't use Bublcam. It was a kickstarter fraud. made a few cameras. stole a lot of money.
I think this'll see the best use in nature photography. Of course, there are a lot more technical and higher quality 360º cams about, but they're probably a lot more cumbersome and expensive than this - not things you look for if you're climbing a mountain or something. Interesting camera, thanks for sharing.
+AdvancePlays IC Real Tech, they have the best one I have seen. Seemless and does awesome video, both cams are 2K. They are going to be using it in Formula E Racing, so you can be in the car and look around at everything going past you.
Great review. I really enjoy your videos. I think its because you have excellent editing skills. Well done. Douglas
+RetroWeld Thanks, the editing is the thing that takes the time - but I guess you'll already know that, people only notice the editing (good or bad) when they do it themselves.
+WWW.2KINDS.COM seems I'm just unlucky. I haven't seen any other users reporting similar issues.
I'm really loving this channel! cannot stop recommending this to my friends. keep up the superb work sir!
+John Angeles Thanks old chap - much appreciated.
👍
Thanks for the review, btw I love your conservatory!
+looneytoonsama I'm glad someone does, about the only time it gets used is to dry washing.
The “vertical post with buble “ on top position reminds me of the way in which terrahawks spheres used to charge themselves in the eighties series with Windsor Davies. !! Great vid Matt
This is actually quite an impressive piece of tech! I'm looking at the gallery they have, and there are some pretty cool shots - I could definitely have fun with something like this, but it does seem slow to operate and the durability/reliably thing worries me.
i really want to see bubl video played back on the gakken world eye! they seem perfectly, unintentionally made to work together.
Excellent review. Your sense of humor is great, Mr Saruman :-)
Manchester looks like an nice city :3
Yes, I live there flic.kr/p/2dAbiCU
Just in case it matters. I don't think your videos are boring. I think your videos are well organized and relevant to the topic. I liked your response to the person who claimed your videos were boring. I wish more people followed your format. Some people tend to go too far into irrelevant too personal conversation. in conclusion: your videos are great!
Three year old tech video from Techmoan, is still interesting!
Your reviews are outstanding. Thanks for making them and I look forward to seeing more.
I agree with Dave. I've been looking at, trying, using action cameras a bit lately - and Techmoan is the first place I look
btw: Gitup Git2...........eh ?? I am old enough to have used black n white roll film. You can't begin to imagine my amazement at the vid quality Git2 gives, and all from a camera that's little bigger than an Old Skool matchbox.........eh?
When I saw the footage from your vehicle I instantly thought of the great potential a further developed device could have have as a dash cam. What do you think?
And yet another highly amusing and informative video Matt. Straight out of the box I can think of several serious applications for this product. I'm sure that real estate agents, crime scene investigations and maybe even FPV quad copters. What about in a Bubble on top of a Police car? If they can sort out the continuous power issue it could be a real winner.
Mat, I'm surprised that you didn't mention the row of connector pins next to the tripod socket. Too many pins for power alone, so maybe it's for data transfer or remote control in the absence of an app?
+TheSushiFiend I've no idea what they do...that's why I didn't mention them.
+TheSushiFiend you are right in a way, its meant for developers to debug the device in case anything goes wrong. It could possibly work as a data transfer but its not originally meant for that, its a little inconvenient as well, you would need some kind of mounting device to put it in, and there is a usb port so if they would include data tranfser through wire I would think that a usb port thats already there is far more handy.
+TheSushiFiend Yeah i thought that might be for some sort of camera gimbal like what we use on an RC quad or as the public like to call them a drone, but going by what RareAmv said i'm completely wrong. ;-)
+TheSushiFiend we do have a mobile application (Bubl Xplor App) that allows you to remote control the Bublcam. :)
We love you, Mr T!
So they finally came out with this camera. I remember seeing a while back. Nice review.
Fantastic detailed and entertaining review! Hope the makers will take note from this :-)
Your Solarium looks awesome. It must be even better to sleep on the sofa during a thunderstorm.
I know this is a 2 year video, but when I saw the part in which you had to hold the stick with the ball over your head, I couldn't help but think about how everyone there would have been in the shot looking at the camera if you were to say "By the power of Greyskull!". Jokes aside, love the videos.
You should get a drone and use the bublcam with that.
PS you have the best review channel on youtube.
Brilliant video, thanks for taking the time to do it. Very interesting
Even before alignment the stiching is impressive. Resolution wasn't until I saw the familiar court scene where it seemed satisfactory. If you do get arrested by mall security please keep the footage rolling throughout the trial, conviction and subsequent incarceration :) Oh, it might be a fun toy for the ISS crew to play around with...
Another great review as always.. I don't think I would jump into this camera quite yet..
you need to take pics further away but wearing red and white stripes. and a red and white cap.
jlebrech where's techmoan???
Please note that this camera was in beta when Techmoan reviewed it. It may have been improved over time prior to (or maybe after) the release of the final version.
That was truly a cool camera with great possibility
For the future once the ten gets better.
And great conservatory you have.
i'm actually impressed how well it hides the monopod in the still shots. For a Sec I thought you threw the camera up in the air to get the over the head shot.
Very Good Review... Voice Modulation is awesome ...
+Techmoan Photos around a dinner table are always difficult, this would allow everyone to look front and center. Make a montage 360 degree 'photo' of your friends/family getting progressively drunk through the meal?
I always found a smart phone doing panoramic on a lazy Suzanne was good for dinner party photos. Many Asian resteraunts provide these on the table, presumably for there photographic benefits.

Any combinations of spelling for _Lazy_ or _Susan_ are fine.
Great review many thanks, would love to see it on a mini drone or quad copter
Thank you very much for spending money to show us this really nice gadgets!
Superb presentation , again. Wonder if the Ricoh 360 will become the best when upgraded ?
Great video. Found myself laughing out loud listening to your experiences with the Bublcam.
So you never said how it turned out with the mall security, but I guess we saw the photo so that kinda answered it. :)
Great story telling.
Thanks for these 360 reviews, all very useful.
Other than using a number of gopros coupled together, have you come across any consumer cameras that offer higher quality video quality?
At the moment I'm torn between the theta s and the bubl, I like the features of the bubl for the time lapse and hdr but based on your review I think the theta is a more complete product.
Also not being able to charge the bubl defeats the timelapse feature for using in any length of time :(
2:33 You always give me a chuckle when you say that one of your cameras "goes blue" when you turn it on and I wait for a load of explicitives to come flowing out. Hehehe
it is a reaaally beautiful room that one :3
can you put it on top of your motorbike helmet while riding? I think that would be a interesting video
The most important thing missing, does it float? Second most, what are those five connectors at the bottom for?
This is really cool. I can see this working well for a biker's DVR?
Very awesome review as always!
I think only four lenses makes alignment a challenge, I'd assume higher end 360 degree cams have more lenses and thus a greater amount of overlap between images to get a more accurate tiling together of the separate images. More lenses would also reduce the fish eye effect as more lenses would mean they don't need as much field of view to get full coverage.
Sounds like it has a long way to go.
As always, great review (your fingernails are looking better)
I wonder if you could hang this below a drone.... or maybe a kite for aerial photography, especially somewhere scenic. Guess it depends on the weight capacity of the drone
Your sample photos remind me of the .MOV formatted files that you can view with Apple QuickTime. There are plenty of examples of these on Web (search on "apple quicktime 360 degree panorama" or "quicktime VR photos".) They might give you an example of the type of subjects you can photograph. I would be interested to know if the Bublcam photos can be converted to the Apple format.
I wonder how this would work if you mounted it upside down on a ceiling.
The driving video watched directly from the above and zoomed out looks very cool. Also, the video works for me on Firefox. Can you power it/access data via the visible connectors on the bottom?
Although it is still not perfect, but it is very, very cool and i think this kind of photgraphy and filming has an big future!
I remember one similar but with more lenses. You could throw it in the air and it used a accelerometer to trigger take the picture at the highest point.
Are you going to review the Eken H9 4k Camera? It's $70.
Hi I noticed you said when it was uploaded to a computer the image was then separated into four images, did you ever find out about software that makes it into a 360 image like on your phone? Also are you aware if you can 'host' these images if they're not on bubl? I am aware I've asked plenty of questions but I am very seriously considering buying one. Hope to hear from you soon
Like you, I wonder when you would find a use for it. A good place to test it would be a football ground - there are plenty of Manchester based teams in the North West Counties League, and these are the sort of guys that would be willing to let you test it - certainly City or United wouldn't be so accomodating
I'd totally buy it!
Great video. Thanks a lot.
This would be great to use on a Quadcopter for aerial photography. Mount it upside down and flip the image in a editor. I would be really great if you could use it with FPV and Oculus Rift.
Any indication as to what the pogo pins do? Great video.
I wonder how it would look if you mounted it like a dashcam
+BadDriversOf Georgia Best I have seen is from IC Real Tech, they have an awesome one and it is seemless, 3D and uses 2 2K cameras, one on each side. They are going to be using it in Formula E racing, much better video for spectators to watch.
why did u turn comments off in your other videos
good review! thanks
A beautiful house
Best secondary camera ever for motovloggers/events
You need a hat with a tripod mount on the top.
Have you seen or heard of the 360Fly camera? It appears to use only one lens for a 360° capture. I wonder how well it works.
I wonder if this is the same technology that Google uses for the maps and Street view
Very interesting, I assume that these saves are in a format that is incompatible with UA-cam's 360 degree video player which is a shame
No PC software then? That's kind of a no-no. Also, the videos work just fine in Firefox.
Nice review, really detailed ! Keep reviewing kickstarter items :)
Seems the lenses aren't even aligned, there visible misaligned sections in every shot. Kinda rules or this camera for me. :-/
Good review though, as always
+Sheppo hi there, just thought we'd mention here that the alignment does improve over time with use of the Bublcam with our cloud service bubl.io. You can see more examples of footage from the Bublcam in our mobile app or online at bubl.io/experiences!
can confirm in the app, looking at cloud-stored photos the alignment does appear to be spot on. Question, is additional processing required for this, and can it only be done in the Bubl.io cloud service?
Sheppo for first time users the alignment may be a bit off. Once a user has uploaded a bubl image to our cloud service bubl.io an alignment profile is adopted by the Bublcam. Hope that helps!
Looks a great little device. Would be great on a motorbike, both on the roads and on the track. Not sure how I'd look with this stuck on top of my helmet though...
hey i loved this video but could you tell me how you recorded your screen. thanks.
+MOVEMENT On a Mac, attach an iPhone/iPad up via a lightning lead. Load up quicktime on the Mac and choose - 'New Movie Recording' Select the iPhone/iPad from the list of available sources...and that's it.
Awesome camera to capture my music videos. Thanks!
Did you notice the almost black diamond patches to the left and right of your driving scenes? Every time the video "swiveled" around there they were.
The 1% battery gave me an anxiety attack
Hmmm, different generations. The first thing I thought of was the 'Kino' floating cameras from the Battlestar Galactica 2004 series rather than the Jedi training orb. If indeed it was a Jedi device and not just something that happened to be on board the Milenium Falcon.
Both floating orbs but the Kino was a camera like this thing is.
A lot of these sort of devices can seem a bit gimicky to us older types by ourselves but I imagine younger people with a big group of friends would love this. Stick one of these down in the middle of a party or somewhere they have gone and it will provide a recording of the whole experience rather than framed images. I think these type of things could evolve to be truly useful. I wish I had something similar when I was in high school and University. It makes me wonder how they have progressed now its 2019
FRIEND ASK FOR USE IN CONCERT NIGHT ARE WHAT YOU THINK IS THE BEST 360
Would make a good drone cam I reckon!
So it looks like affordable but good quality image/video 360 cameras is still a couple of years into the future. Thanks for the video!
Hi again Matt. Been to the bubl website and seen some other videos on here so Q1 from earlier now answered (yes for the benefit of other readers,)so please ignore that question. Regards Mark in the UK
What about tossing the bubl up in the air and snapping a pic?
as has been already suggested some type of clever hat mount is in order, although this will still attract strange looks which will be captured thanks to the 360 degree view!
Do you just have an entire room filled with cameras?
How much does it cost, I may consider buying this.
What did you use to record your phone screen?
Would it not be cheaper to run after a google street view car and pinch the cam off that ;)
On a serious note, could this be the future of dash cams?! video quality aside, I was really impressed by the 360 view when mounted on Mats' Mini.... total coverage!
Nice cam, but 800 Dollars are to much for me.
you really have a nice home, anyway, I think photos of rainforest taken with this camera would be stunning!
Wow... kinda like Google's Photosphere, but with VIDEO! Very Interesting product, although i cant figure out what use i have for it...
NSA must love this gadget.
does it still work in 2021 ???
Has anyone tried the 3D VR feed from this sent to a Gear VR headset? It's not true 3D if it's captured with a single lens as far as I know, but is it a good fake 3D effect?
Hi Matt , the camera battery is empty . Could it be that the camera goes into a power-saving mode ?
Interesting device!
Looking at the samples on your blog page, it becomes clear that the resolution needs to be a lot higher for cameras as these to create really convincing panoramas. Using chrome to view the picture looks all right at first, but to get rid of the perspective distortion, you need to zoom all the way in, and that's when the low resolution really shows. Ideally, it would need more than 4 sensors, but obviously it would need higher processing requirements as well.
Then there's the calibration. As the parameters of the sensors and lenses are really only known by the manufacturer, it is strange that should be a need for a calibration function. This looks more like an issue with tolerances in the production than anything else. There is also no way of knowing if the calibration process makes for better images in all situations.
To get yourself out of the picture, you could mount the camera on top of your cap. I can't guarantee you'd look less goofy though.
+custardo I was thinking of hiding the camera inside a police helmet with a flip down top.
Would love to mount this thing on a quadrotor and get a 360 flight video
A 360 degree dashcam would be really good for ensuring that every part of an accident is documented..
I'm a building surveyor and have always thought of using a consumer grade 360 camera. Thats the only use I have which is work/business related, need to take pictures of many rooms, this would mean just one pic and off I go to the next room. The main problem is software, unless there becomes a standard filetype for 360 pics as well as native windows use for that filetype it will always be a niche and never mainstream, like .pdf for example.
nice vid!
