Thanks for another great review. Were you able to conceal the chunky lense wire when using it as a dash cam? Also, after recording a video using the time lapse feature, is it possible to adjust the speed of that video? Thanks again :-)
Strangely, when I saw this in the video thumbnail, I thought it'd be a camera you could curve around corners and into tight spaces to see what's there, sorta like the cameras doctors use when looking up people's noses and stuff.
I received mine earlier for the bargain price of £28.51 from Gearbest in a flash sale. I'm well happy with the price. I can't wait to attach it to my helmet and get recording. Thanks Techmoan for the great reviews. It really helped me to decide which camera would be best for me. It was a hard decision though as there are a few that seem pretty good. The Sony, the contour roam, the tcl and the Innovv all seemed the best for what I wanted. But saw this at a bargain price and snapped it up straight away.
6:57 as an American I had a little heart attack when I saw that car coming around the corner on the wrong side of the road. I thought that was going to be it for Techmoan for a second there.
This format (Recording unit and camera seperate) are actually pretty interesting for moto vlogging, biking or running shots. I would like to see more manufacturers trying this camera style out!
It would be nice if the record delay went negative too - with a rolling recording of the last few seconds of captured footage saved to memory when the recording was activated. In many situations the most important evidence is what was happening in the lead up to the impact or the decision to start recording.
It would appear INNOVV continues listening to you and their customers (which is refreshing). They now offer the C3 with either battery or capacitor power if ordered directly from them (drop down menu). Sorry if I missed you sharing that in your video but thought it worth mentioning for folks wanting to use it as a dash cam. As always thank you for the wonderful review and write up on your website. Your reviews have helped countless thousands of us...and I sincerely appreciate it. Cheers.
Interesting! So you could use several pre-setting-loaded micro SD cards for different uses? One for a dash cam, and one for say indoors plugged in to power for taking an all day time lapse for my leopard gecko's daily activities? Do you know if the motion detection is activated by the base unit or the snake lense? Thanks
Another good review, Mr Moan ;-) Just made me think, how about reviewing one of those endoscope cameras? You're supposed to be able to send it into your U-bend (very useful) or maybe more practical, peer into your car's more inaccessible nooks & crannies. Check the pipes & wires under the kitchen units etc. KEEP 'EM COMING!
This camera looks good for amateur television. The AVI output would plug right in to an amateur television transmitter. The fact that you can a title on the screen is perfect for displaying your amateur radio call sign as required by the regulations. I might pick one of these up for experimenting with amateur TV.
thanks for this review i'm a quadriplegic and draw holding a pencil in my teeth. i'm thinking of doing some drawing videos and i'm looking for a camera i can mount to my glasses or some type of head harness. the mount isn't that important i can modify what a camera comes with or make my own. i just want something lightweight with good quality video. the lens on a wire does have an advantage because because i can put the controls where i can reach them. do you think this camera would be good for this? i was thinking the 90 degree lens might work? i've watched several of your reviews do you have any other suggestions? thank you.
+mojoe60 I think the focussing would be an issue - its a fixed focus at infinity and I'd imagine things on a desk will be a bit soft on the focus. It's also a bit heavy to mount onto glasses.
The quality is good enough to enjoy the nice looking countryside, stone architecture, live music street and the mall's neon signs. England seems a nice place to see. Thanks for your effort. You are helping me decide what to consider and which product to consider for purchase.

@@stephenphilp1380 no, in fact we're right handed, that's why we use right hand to shift gears and whatnot (legitimate reason everyone switched to driving on the right: to sit on the left and control horses with the right hand. Horses have just been replaced with a gear shifter). It is you who are left handed weirdos.
Its great that they listened to your advice and produced a camera likewise. A clever design. Just need to move the mic into the camera lens part. A pro review as always, I know they take a lot of time.
fredintheshed1 this one has taken longer than most. I've been shooting for a couple of weeks.. editing started on Friday and finished on Sunday. I really think I need to start making simpler videos.
Techmoan A switch to a different presentation style might keep the sweet sweet information in there, but shorten production time. Linus Tech Tips has a very quick and efficient review video routine while maintaining accuracy and richness in information. Check them out! By the way, I appreciate the product knowledge you gain from your long production times, and that's something you should ensure to keep in future videos whatever changes you make.
Thanks for the great video! I realise that this camera is not sold as an infrared camera, but sometimes being infrared capable depends on the manufacturer using a red filter or not. My handheld video camera for instance is definitely not sold as an infrared camera but performs perfectly well in that role because of the red filter or absence thereof. One of the specialist uses you mentioned could include using a camera like this in that role. It would be very simple to check the cameras infrared compatability by turning off the lights and checking to see if any footage is recorded when the scene is bathed in infrared light. Although there are some enthusiasts who provide such information, they are not mainstream and finding out infrared compatibility for mainstream cameras can be problematic. This may not be something that you are interested in doing but performing a simple check would help others like myself greatly. Thanks again for the great videos.
Not a bad little camera though I would suggest that they make the mic in separate from the charger port, then it would be nearly everything a motovlogger would need in a small package. It would also mean that the user could use a better mic option, rather than the supplied one (might depend on where you have it mounted in the helmet as well). I hope the code last for than a few weeks as I am going to get in a week or two.
***** I believe that there are plans for things like that on future models...but if this one doesn't sell well then its unlikely they'll get the chance to make them.
Techmoan Yeah I hope it does sell well so they can make a better one, but only time will tell on that though. I feel it will sell well though since if there is a problem with the lens it does not mean the end to the camera, and the fact that it is lighter than a GoPro, or clone, I feel a lot of motovloggers might switch over.
It looks like a mini B usb plug, which would have 5 pins. 2 would be for power, and the other 3 could be used for the Mic. A simple y-cable wired correctly should do the job.
DownandOutNYC It is a 8 pin mini usb plug and I have made a cable set that does allow the mic or any mic that you like to be used while power is attached. forum.dashcamtalk.com/threads/innovv-c3-with-remote-lens-with-exchangable-wide-and-narrow-fov-lens.6406/page-19#post-94278
Great videos. I will suggest in the future models to add another lense lead so you can have 2 lenses recording from the same unit. Of course that may lead to increasing the size of the recording unit, but I think would be a great idea!
I used the C3 now for some time: PROBLEMS; 1. The micro USB connection is so flimsy and this leads to a bad connections or the entire connection breaking from the PCB. 2. The sealed camera was put together in the high temperature high RH location, therefore in low temperature locations droplets gather on the inside of the lense rending the camera basically useless.
Really nice...I've seen Panasonic camera's set up the same way on Ebay that cost $400. This is so much more affordable. WHY is this camera (with or without cable unit) very much like a "metal Mobius"? Even the configuration of settings. The Mobius has a default of time stamp OFF, though. AGAIN, Mr Techmoan very nice thorough review!
Extra lens's/cables are about $30-$35. I think it would be awesome to be able to install the lens portion in a number of rc airplanes and just attach the part with the electronics as needed.
Looks like a great camera. Love the fact that they include an external microphone. Don't like the use of non standard mini/micro USB to connect to the camera. This means that the slew of other USB cables I have cannot be used, and if I loose the non-standard cable I'll be SOL.
Good review, but it surprises me that manufacturers don't make this size for mounting in cars. After all, it's onlt there in case of an accident to record the event. Sound is not very important, but as long as there is a reasonable image, it does the job. Any reviews on smaller front and back camera dash equpment for cars will be most welcome.
I wonder if the cable is shielded? It can be important for RC aircraft users. It looks a bit large and heavy for my use but I like the alloy case. I wonder why the camera was made so large? Horyzon HD will shortly be releasing their version 4 camera attached to the recording unit via a shielded cable, with a detachable LCD screen.
@2:40 you mentioned about what you cannot just do BUT that's excactly what i want to do ! any suggestion and or links to something i can use like so? i need a usb camera that the windows pc can recognize as a usb device because using C++ i can call this cameras in programming "only if is a usb type webcam device" and i would love if the camera would be similar in style to yours "snake like" or even ribbon flex cable as well. Im doing a project at home and i need this type of form factor thanks!
Interesting. I was looking for something like this to record dental treatments. I'd put it on the operation lamp. the 'timelapse' mode would suit the viewers better than real life speed I presume. Thanks for the review!
Many thanks, another excellent review. Have you seen the motorcycle clips on INNOVV's own web site? I hope the C3's microphone was used,it was very good with little wind noise A microphone socket on the C2 would be useful too.
I'd like to find a weatherproof cam and hard wire it from a car's grill, and another from the rear bumper. Is the C3 Mini suitable for both grill and rear bumper applications?
Hello, you mentioned in the video that in order to always record with the correct orientation you should turn off the "g" sensor in the settings, but i cant find that option in the settings program i downloaded, please help.
Watching you drive on the left makes me brain freak out for some reason even though I know thats how yall do it over there. Looks like you got some fun roads for riding
Great idea, but just a few options are missing in order to convince me into buying. 1. Include GPS 2. More recording video modes (like 720p/30fps) 3. Support larger Sdxc cards (I would like to record at least 10 hours without changing the card) 4. Gyroscope/angle sensor would be extraordinary :)
Also, many (most) of your video wasn't level, does that mean you struggled to mount the camera and are there any lights on the camera, if so can you turn them off?
to have a hidden camera facing forwards and one backwards on a motorcycle. which camera system would you say would be best to record on to a onboard hardwire/ memorycard and powered while bike is running. when the bike turned off the camera does to.??? help.
I've fitted one of these to my bike, but when I try and view the files with the HT prefix I keep getting an error message and they won't play, but the ones with an L do. Looking on the INNOVV website there's a firmware update but I can't seem to manage to get it to download and transfer it to the camera as I'm a bit of a techno dinosaur so do you have any advice on how to do this. My laptop has windows 10 if it makes any difference Thanks
Now this is a more car camera friendly shape, lens being able to put somewhere seperate. And with a small body/unit so its easily hidden away out of view (on like the headliner near the window)
PS I used a different mount on my crash helmet which holds the cam futher away hence you don't see any visor in the frame, even with the 120 lense. It's on my test review at 15m 01s. It also means the clip is removeable when not in use. Innovv C3 HD Action Cam/Snake Cam Unboxing, Review, Using and Test Clips Plus I warmed the mount clips gently on a gas flame so I could open them slightly to make using them a bit easier. I think it would be useful too to put a white stripe of tape along the top of the bullet to make vertical more obvious?
Is the recording frame rate somehow linked to the speed of the bike? It's just I noticed that when you rode over those big SLOW signs on the road, the video makes it look like you didn't.
Thank you for your reviews. Very thorough. Just one question - when the AV cable is connected can external power be supplied - so you get 1080p recording, cinch av output and charging all at the same time.
Thanks for another great review. Were you able to conceal the chunky lense wire when using it as a dash cam? Also, after recording a video using the time lapse feature, is it possible to adjust the speed of that video? Thanks again :-)
If they make an extended worm lens the size of an 808 camera lens, this could be a great action/spy camera. You would be able to just tape it to the side of your face or on your clothing.
Hello, is there anyway they could bring out a mount for the lens and recorder unit to fit a roll cage as this camera on wire set up Is ideal for Motorsport.
Just picked one up from my local pawn shop friend, great informational video review. i wish you mad a video for everything i bought. haha but i have 2 Questions, 1. what kind of temperatures can the C3 withstand? I am speaking of Winter Sports applications. 2. you said something about people using the camera to record with RC aircraft while using the live stream function. How can this work if the camera has to be plugged into the recording box and the cable for the TV also has to be plugged into the box. Or is there a way to live stream to a monitor wirelessly?
TheLameTechGuy Wonder no more - the answer is No. The connector might be the same but the data sent over it isn't. Think how many things are attached via USB plugs, printers, power adaptors, cameras, game controllers etc - however plugging an Xbox controller into a printer doesn't enable you to draw pictures on the paper.
Hey, tech moan. I just wanted to ask if you have any camera recommendations for paint balling. Preferably inexpensive and something I can quickly take on and off if needed. Thanks!
Gregory Kennedy It's something I get asked about every now and then - but I haven't got a definitive answer - the C3 is as good an option as anything I've tested.
Great review as usual Matt! However, being familiar with your meticulousness, I gathered that you had one damn hell of a time trying to get the camera oriented straight. It was like a roller-coaster ride with the shift-tilt of all the videos, lol. I don't think you succeeded once Matt and I know it was not for a lack of trying. Are you sure the bumps on the top of the lens units which indicate which way up were placed on there accurately?
While I am amazed at how good the image of these camera's look, especially for the price, there is some quite heavy blurring/artifacting on horizontal pans (checked it on the sample clips, the Print Works one show is clearly). It's not this just this camera, just something I noticed in general. Is the real time compression the cause of this?
Will the microphone for the C3 work with C1 or C2? Also have you seen the Mobius-90 camera (helmet camera)? to my mind a better Mobius for mounting on a helmet.
+Techmoan also, that's a great idea! i never thought of it! i watched every video of yours on cameras i could possibly get, but i can't seem to choose!
+SlayrSarah98 I'd try attaching the Mobius upside down with velcro under the brim (the angle might be an issue though) - I'm not too sure how much rain you are expecting though - If you really need it to be waterproof then the Nautilus might be an option. However I've yet to find anything small that works well attached on the side of something, like on a headband.
I know it comes with an external mic but does this C3 does have in-built mic like the C2? From the pictures at their website, I can't see and "hole" on the device for a mic.

I must have missed something, but what does the included mic sound like.
is there any way to get a mic like that to connect to the sj4000 without tearing into it?
Would the 90 degree lens work well to place over the fender on the front of the bike?
The Mobius has had time-lapse video since last firmware update (2.18). They keep getting better :D
Thank you for your reviews. Very thorough.
Just one question - when the AV cable is connected can external power be supplied - so you get 1080p recording, cinch av output and charging all at the same time.
Do you think i could use this as a self use Colonoscope ?
At a stretch, maybe ;-)
can it handle engine heat ? since I want to install one on my car's grill then wire it up to inside the car
Have you reviewed the new C5? And have you reviewed the Roadhawk helmet cam?
Thanks for another great review.
Were you able to conceal the chunky lense wire when using it as a dash cam?
Also, after recording a video using the time lapse feature, is it possible to adjust the speed of that video?
Thanks again :-)
Can you tell me where I could buy and cost of a usb battery pk and would it power the 808 key fob camera ?. Thanks
Excellent review of a very versatile camera.
Can you extend the camera length cable with an extra male-female mini hdmi cable?
As always excellent review Mat.
Thank you in advance.
gorvic1 I've seen someone mention that they tried that and it worked - at some point though the signal will degrade.
Techmoan I've extended the cable an additional 10 feet without any signal loss, further may be possible, I only had 10 feet of extension
If they make an extended worm lens the size of an 808 camera lens, this could be a great action/spy camera. You would be able to just tape it to the side of your face or on your clothing.
is it actually an hdmi port on the recording device? If so, this could be used for recording consoles too :)
Hello, is there anyway they could bring out a mount for the lens and recorder unit to fit a roll cage as this camera on wire set up Is ideal for Motorsport.
Birdiemango1 Tripod mounts are included...you can attach these to whatever tripod clamp mount you need.
I truly do enjoy your informative videos! Very good job as always my friend. Thank you. You save us so much grief. Your friend...
Is the camera and wire waterproof? If so, to what specification?
Just picked one up from my local pawn shop friend, great informational video review. i wish you mad a video for everything i bought. haha but i have 2 Questions,
1. what kind of temperatures can the C3 withstand? I am speaking of Winter Sports applications.
2. you said something about people using the camera to record with RC aircraft while using the live stream function. How can this work if the camera has to be plugged into the recording box and the cable for the TV also has to be plugged into the box. Or is there a way to live stream to a monitor wirelessly?
Will you ever do a clip in the Trafford centre please
joshua cutting It's just not convenient for me.....it's not know locally as the Traffic Centre for nothing.
Ok I thought it might be a good test at night
joshua cutting My house is over 30 miles away, so it's somewhere I only visit every couple of years.
Can I record a HDMI video from Pc? I'm not camera recorders expert so I don't know if it can do that.
My Innovv C! camera goes out of focus when used as a dashcam and gets warm to hot.
Any ideas for a fix?
If you use the head mount, will the side of your face get n the shot?
I wonder if you could input an hdmi signal from say a xbone or ps4 and record that?
TheLameTechGuy Wonder no more - the answer is No. The connector might be the same but the data sent over it isn't. Think how many things are attached via USB plugs, printers, power adaptors, cameras, game controllers etc - however plugging an Xbox controller into a printer doesn't enable you to draw pictures on the paper.
Came for the snake cam, stayed for the sideburns....
Another question I had: the Innovv C1 and C2 are not able to do 60 FPS (from your review of them). Unlike them, is this one able to do it?
Woow, this is the best so far!
I want to move to where you live That's a beautiful neighborhood!
Yeah listen to the man. The norths a toilet. I only came to the comments to see if anyone commented about the scenery lol.
Is the real time compression the cause of this?
custardo That's what happens in low light - you'll see the same results on pretty much all cameras I've tested in these conditions.
Will the microphone for the C3 work with C1 or C2? Also have you seen the Mobius-90 camera (helmet camera)?
to my mind a better Mobius for mounting on a helmet.
Would this camera still be good considering how old it is?
Button layout and menu settings look very similar to the Mobius camera. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same hardware inside ;-)
BMWK75Rider It definitely isn't the same camera inside...and the Mobius doesn't have the a physical switch to select between loop/normal video.
This is an awesome camera.
are there any 1080p camera that is small enough to attach on my shoulder or my head with a headband or something?thanks
+SlayrSarah98 The Mobius camera is a good option (it could be stuck on the brim of a baseball cap). ua-cam.com/video/7wmIyD1fM4M/v-deo.html
+Techmoan but does it have a waterproof case?
+Techmoan also, that's a great idea! i never thought of it! i watched every video of yours on cameras i could possibly get, but i can't seem to choose!
+SlayrSarah98 I'd try attaching the Mobius upside down with velcro under the brim (the angle might be an issue though) - I'm not too sure how much rain you are expecting though - If you really need it to be waterproof then the Nautilus might be an option. However I've yet to find anything small that works well attached on the side of something, like on a headband.
Could I use this as a capture card if I use HDMI to mini HDMI
I know it comes with an external mic but does this C3 does have in-built mic like the C2? From the pictures at their website, I can't see and "hole" on the device for a mic.
Trieno Ridwen see 12:33
Cool idea with some nice accessories out of the box.
Hey Techmoan, did you see any difference in video quality vs the C2?
