  • This video is about making a long lasting DIY CO2 system for planted aquarium using jelly powder, sugar, yeast and baking soda. This low budget DIY CO2 system is cheap but highly effective and will last longer than other common methods. With this method, you can provide carbon dioxide to your aquarium plants for 3 to 4 weeks (~1 month). In the video, you will learn how to build a long lasting DIY CO2 generator kit for aquarium, followed by the recipe for carbon dioxide production.

    amazing diy co2 kit, but I am facing a problem with co2 diffuser. it is creating and diffusing the co2 with diy diffuser(used cigarette filter) but not with the one that I purchased from the aquarium shop. please help, looking forward for your reply on this

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  17 днів тому

      A ceramic CO2 diffuser requires a lot more pressure to work. So you have to wait a few more hours, so that enough pressure builds up in the bottle and then the diffuser will work properly. Also, you can increase the amount of yeast from 1/2 to 1 teaspoon, to increase CO2 production and the pressure as well.

    Awesome video brother. 😃👏 you are great. Bas co2 production and on off controll ki jarurat hai. Because bas lighting ke time hi Co2 dena acha hai. How can we control co2 flow and production? Instead of letting yeast eat the whole jelly, we may feed them from time to time in a fixed proportion.

    during off light what do you suggest to stop the co2 from running. Do i let it bleed out of the aquarium?

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  3 роки тому

      You can run an air-pump / air-stone at night to agitate the water surface of your tank to keep the oxygen level high or, you can disconnect the tubing of the CO2 generator from the check valve to stop giving CO2 to the aquarium at night.

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  2 роки тому

      1. Actually, using gelatin will not produce good results. This is because the jelly made using gelatin melts at outside / room temperature (25°C-40°C). Gelatin works well in cold environments (

    What is the use of the Check Valves and why two valves used, and how could we control the drops per second, if using controller where it would be best to place it.

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  Рік тому

      Check Valves or Non-Return Valves allow air to flow in one direction (into the tank) and stop water from flowing in the other direction (out of the tank). For more information, see the video description.

    vai, which types of plants can grow without co2. I want to use only root tabs and diy lights only.

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  Рік тому +1

      If you don't want to use CO2, at least use liquid carbon. Because no plant can grow properly without carbon, which is a very important and necessary nutrient for plants. Low light aquarium plants such as Anubias, Java Fern, Java Moss and Amazon Sword, Vallisneria, Dwarf Sagittaria, Cryptocoryne sp., Nymphaea sp., Wisteria, Hygrophila etc. can be grown without CO2 injection.

      ধন্যবাদ, এই CO2 সিস্টেম টা অনবরত চালু থাকবে, যতক্ষণ না জেলি সম্পূর্ণ শেষ হয়ে যাবে | এটা বন্ধ করা যাবে না আর বন্ধ করার চেষ্টাও করবেন না কারণ CO2 গ্যাস এর production এখানে continuously হতেই থাকবে | রাতে শুধু একটা air-stone বা power-head চালিয়ে একোয়ারিয়ামের জলের উপরিভাগ আন্দোলিত করবেন যাতে CO2 গ্যাস জল থেকে বেরিয়ে যায় | এতে একোয়ারিয়ামের মাছের কোনও ক্ষতি হবে না |

    Hello, Could you please tell, is there is any problem, if we completely closed the bottle. Suppose we are not using this CO2 gas for a long time (after preparing). Looking for your reply

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  5 місяців тому

      This is different from a pressurized CO2 system where the CO2 gas can be stored. In this method, the yeast will continuously produce CO2 in the bottle during the fermentation process, and this CO2 production cannot be stopped. Forcibly stopping the flow of CO2 gas will completely damage the CO2 kit.

    • @madebykm

      Good quality silicone airline tubing (4mm ID x 6mm OD) will be fine, but it’s best to use CO2 resistant Polyurethane (PU) tubing.

      @@madebykm hey , I'm using ceramic tile diy diffuser and the generator is working fine now . I made wrong (7g yeast) measurements which resulted in too much CO2 also caused pipes to explode but now they're working fine but seems like the CO2 produced is not sufficient for the plants , before they pearled but now they don't . My tank is 60 L

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  Рік тому

      Well, you can use two generators like this and use 1/2 teaspoon of yeast in each bottle. Then periodically change the yeast water in one generator. This will be enough for a 60L tank, unless you have very high intensity lights or a high tech tank.

    Very informative video. I am looking into producing CO2 at a rate of 200cc's per minute as an attractant in a mosquito trap. This will be set outdoors and run continuously. Would I still benefit from using jelly crystals?

      Thank you. My research is pointing me to try a 7 gallon black bucket, insulated to hold a more consistent temperature. I'll have to experiment from there. A voice in my head wants me to use this as a way to make some good ale brews but that would be stepping too far over the line for public service. However for personal aquarium use for people interested in home brew, it might make aquarium maintenance more enjoyable. Cheers! ,🍻

    Hello Dada...I have been using jelly mothod for quite some time and thanks to U I am able to enjoy pearling in my plants. I hv a 1.5 ft heavily planted aquarium. Problem is, first day the C02 supply is sufficient but after a day or two its reduced significantly. Plz suggest me something so that I hv a steady C02 supply.

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  6 місяців тому

      Ok, do the following:
      1. Check for leaks in the CO2 system by entirely submerging the system along with the diffuser into a bucket of water. If you see bubbles coming out of any joints, there is a leak, and you need to fix it accordingly.
      2. Use 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of branded, good-quality yeast and use warm (not hot) water to activate it.
      3. The CO2 diffuser also needs to be cleaned regularly, as its pores occasionally get clogged after continuous use.
      4. Change the yeast solution weekly to maintain a stable CO2 supply in the tank.
      Thank you.

    Is there a way to control the amount of CO2 entering the aquarium. Any equipments you know of? I am thinking of using Tropica 3-in-1 diffuser and the rest as you suggested.
    We need to control inflow of CO2 depending on tank size, right?

    • @madebykm
      @madebykm  21 день тому +1

      Here, the CO2 production depends on the quality and quantity of yeast. So, you can control the CO2 production or bubbles per second (bps) rate by increasing or decreasing the amount of yeast. If 1/4 teaspoon of yeast does not produce enough CO2 for your tank, you can use 1/2 teaspoon of yeast to increase the bps rate. I have found (in a normal bubble counter) that 1/2 teaspoon of yeast can produce CO2 at a rate of 2 bubbles per second for about 10 days. Then the production of CO2 gradually decreases as well as the bps rate. So to provide CO2 in the tank at a steady rate, I recommend refreshing the yeast-water every week. And besides this method, you can also use a needle valve for fine-tuning.

      Daily CO2 ki supply tab tak di jani chahiye jab tak aquarium ki light ON rahega. Planted aquarium ke liye 8 ghante se 10 ghante tak light ON rakhna zaruri hai, isliye tab tak CO2 ki supply karna chahiye. Aur information ke liye video description dekhiye. Yeh bilkul safe hai, koi problem nehi hoga.
