- Het ambulancepersoneel heeft via de meldkamer ambulance een aanvraag gedaan voor motorbegeleiding vanaf het Bronovo ziekenhuis (Den Haag) naar het LUMC (Leiden)
Nadat deze aanvraag is goedgekeurd door de meldkamer ambulance komt het verzoek bij de meldkamer politie en worden er 3 motorrijders naar het Bronovo ziekenhuis gestuurd voor het doen van deze begeleiding.

Here in the UK, a sailor was rescued from mountainous seas by a Royal Air Force SAR helicopter. I think what he wrote afterwards applies to you, too:

Perfect coordination, ambulance driver on a daily bases, "no fear" situation going through the crossings and thought only that patient is transported to the hospital as soon as possible. I work as a driver in the Emergency Department of Split County (Croatia). We have a different approach when it comes to police escort. Here's how we do it, ambulance driver before exiting the highway ( a case of traffic jam, rush-hour etc.) requested a police escort from the Operation Center 112, which then notifies the Police and asked for an escort. We only ask escort when it comes to organ transplants and life-threatening patients.
Anyway, go ahead TVDH and I wish you a safe road.

Wat is eigenlijk de reden dat de Ambu om begeleiding vraagt, ben dan met name geïnteresseerd in wat de patiënt dan mankeert, of kan hier geen uitspraak over gedaan worden ivm privacy?
Denk aan letsel of medische toestand waarbij het belangrijk is dat de ambulance niet abrupt hoeft te remmen/sturen.

Zo gaaf, hoe hard gingen jullie soms wel niet? :D Geweldige reportage trouwens.
Als jullie de autoweg op gaan doen jullie de sirene uit, mogen jullie dan nog wel zo hard rijden, want ik heb altijd geleerd dat je alleen een voorrangsvoertuig bent als je sirene en zwaailicht aan hebt. Klopt dat? Ben wel benieuwd wat er ook allemaal onderling overlegd word tussen de collega's. Sommige filmpjes hoor je dat wel, dat vind ik erg gaaf! Super leuke en informatie filmpjes!
Dat klopt. De sirenes gaan dan even uit zodat de spitsers het verkeer niet afleiden waarvan de ambulance dan last kan hebben met invoegen. Op dat moment is een politievoertuig geen voorrangsvoertuig meer. Maar om gebruik te maken van de vrijstelling (dus snelheid) hoeft een politievoertuig geen voorrangsvoertuig te zijn. Dus wat je geleerd hebt klopt niet. Zo mag een politievoertuig ook door rood rijden zonder zwaailicht en sirene. Als het maar noodzakelijk is voor het uitvoeren van de politietaak.
Zoals je zult begrijpen is het niet vaak mogelijk om het onderlinge radioverkeer op te nemen. Dit soort ritten zijn niet gepland zoals de oefenritten.

+GamersBest The Ambulance sets the pace .... in all escort groups you watch the vehicle behind and adjust your riding accordingly ....not too close and not too far ahead so that the Ambulance has a smooth ride whilst making quick progress. Respect to all involved

In some places in the US ambulances have a remote device that turns traffic signals red (stop) in all directions.
I'm not sure about the Netherlands, but some crossings can respond to public transport nearing the intersection by switching the lane they are on to green via a transponder that sends out a code to a detection loop under the road surface. I'm not sure about emergency vehicles, but I suspect them being able to do the same, but probably not on such a big scale as public transportation is able to, simply because the routes they drive are always different and adapting each intersection to become interactive in this way would cost a lot of money.
Dutch3DMaster the dutch emergency services have the same system as the public transport but with more priority. But this is always faster than the clearing time.

Most of these escorts don't have anything to do with time. It's about providing a smooth ride without sudden breaking and steering.
Those car drivers in the Nederlands are very well behaved! I wonder if there happen missunderstandings with the police motorbikes and with them or with tourists from other countries?
You can see a cyclist misbehaving at an intersection right after he has been given the order to stop, but simply cycles through after doubting a couple of seconds. I think, as an emergency service crewman you have more to fear of people on bikes in The Netherlands then when it comes to misbehaving motorists, especially the younger people that are pre-occupied with their smartphone (sorry for the generalisation here...) or have their earbuds in at 100% and not only can't listen to their surroundings but also stop looking at their surrounding environment. There is a clip somewhere from an ambulance barely missing a teenager who has his earbuds in and sees a green light and simply cycles on while the ambulance is about to cross his or her path.

Wat gebeurt er eigenlijk als de meldkamer een tweede verzoek voor begeleiding ontvangt, terwijl jullie al bezig zijn met een begeleiding? Hebben jullie meerdere teams? of wordt deze dan door politie auto begeleid? Wordt dan de hulp ingeschakeld van een ander korps (bijvoorbeeld Rijnmond) of gaat de ambulance misschien dan zonder begeleiding alvast op weg? Want niet elke ambulance zal kunnen wachten tot dat er begeleiding mogelijk is..
Als er nog meer motorrijders van Team Verkeer zijn dan zullen die gestuurd worden. Anders zal de geschatte aankomsttijd gegeven worden en eventueel nog splitsen.
En anders zal de ambulance zonder begeleiding moeten gaan rijden

Ik vind het gaaf. Maar wat ik me afvraag is of het een 'echte' begeleiding was en niet een oefening. Of hebben de ambu's tegenwoordig ook een camera aan boord?

1. Hoe je een GoPro moet bevestigen weet ik niet.
2. 10 seconden... Soms heb je als hulpverlener die tijd hard nodig voor andere dingen. In zulke gevallen heb je echt elke seconde nodig en dus is er dan geen tijd om een GoPro te bevestigen (ook al duurt dat 10 seconden). Want elke seconde later of eerder kan het verschil maken tussen leven en dood.
Zou het mogelijk zijn om ook snelheden op te nemen in de video's?

Can you explain to me, what is that single red light at the lamppost?
You can see in the moto camera (small frame) at 11:37 - it appears to be off.
Then, at 11:44 the same light can be seen flashing red in the main (big) frame.
I know, there are similar lights in Germany (with continous light rather than flashing), that indicate a "junction is manually set to red light for all directions" information to drivers of emergency vehicles. Do you have that kind of traffic lights, too?

+Sentiago Thanks! Yes, may be a speed feedback road sign. Here in Germany these devices have 2 ½ digits (up to 199) which might fit the motorcycle's speed...
+Sentiago +Andreas Jimmi : In this case wrong, it is just indicating that the maximum speed of 50km/h (that´s the flashing number) is not followed.
Note that it is also painted on the road ahead, sure for a reason. We have lots of them on the posts or above the road on arterial roads in Vienna. Sometimes combined with a radar indiction.
But we do have the type which you mention also at villages outskirts for incomming traffic to slow down.

Die Begleitung ist meist für schwere Unfallopfer, so wird der schnellste Weg zum Krankenhaus garantiert. Ohne Eskorte das es viel länger dauern.
Die Eskorte erleichtert den Fahrern einiges
Sie müssen dann nur noch auf eine ruhige (schwimmende) Fahrweise achten und nicht noch zusätzlich auf den Verkehr
So können sie unnötiges Bremsen vor Kurven erleichtern was insgesamt für weniger Be-/Entschleunigung sorgt
Bei manchen Patienten ist dies sehr kritisch (z.B. Schwere Wirbelsäulenschäden)
