Beautiful views from that ridge overlooking the Bay followed up by a great looking rehydrated meal. I need to get out and try my new camping hammock before too long. Nice relaxing video Dan and Nancy, thanks for sharing !
Thanks, Don! Definitely try out the hammock - we would be curious to know which one you got and how you like it. We are hoping to get down in your neck of the woods this fall with the canoe. You sure have some gorgeous spots that you get to yourself. Hope you and family are doing well. Cheers from a little north of the border!
You guys are too cute in the hammock there! That pho looked unbelievable! When i was going to forestry school in northern california back in 93 a buddy of mine who happened to be vietnamese, needed a ride back home for the holidays and he lived in west covina which is a pretty rough section near south central los angeles. after we had some cocktails he took me to a legit pho place! There was tinted windows so rival gang members couldn’t see targets inside. The food was to die for.
What an experience! Wow - Hard to find those kind of legit places without a true local to take you to them and often they are so nondescript that one would barely give them a passing glance. Real pho is pretty awesome. Hope you are doing well and getting some adventures in yourself. Always great to hear from you! Thanks for watching & cheers!
Your campsite set up reminds me of mine , except mine has Cypress trees , Spanish moss and swamps. The Bushwack Camo rain fly. Hanging a hammock with a Marlin Spike Hitch and whoopee slings. The gear hanging on a side of the tree to keep it off the ground. One other item took the cake as they say. That's the UCO candle lantern , I've had a brass one since the early 70's. it goes with me on every trip. Mine , I have to unscrew the bottom and remove the candle to light it and then put it back together. Topping the list is the titanium Firebox stove ( Mine is the Nano ) and a alcohol stove for quick heat.
Three questions.... Did you get that hat when you were in Europe? The shape of the hat isn’t like a simple beanie - is it still considered a Tuque? Where’s the Joker? It’s been forever since he’s made an appearance.
Hi Andrew, The white hat is a Tilley and the “tuque” is actually an alpaca Appalachian Gear neck warmer that we both occasionally use as an impromptu beanie. It is pretty thick and so comfortable when it gets a bit cold. The Joker Erizo was actually present but didn’t show up on film…..stay tuned: in the next video, there will be plenty of Joker footage 😊. Hope you are doing well. Thanks for watching & cheers!
Ah,… That one tends to be more of a cool weather / winter carry but not to worry, it is a solid member of the Joker fleet and will no doubt make an appearance again soon. 😊
We do carry bear spray on most of our treks (unless very close to home where we - sadly - haven’t seen a bear in 3 years). This particular trip we were caught a little at the last minute finding a spot to hang the hammock before sundown so ended up cooking way closer than we really should have. We always hang our bear bags well away from where we sleep… that being said, we have, ironically, only had close bear encounters in national or provincial parks where the bears are a tad too comfortable with human presence. Our typical haunts are pretty remote and the wildlife is usually less confident around two-legged folks.. my tongue-in-cheek better-half says bear tastes good with salt & pepper but goose is much tougher! 😉 More seriously, we take bear, wolf, coyote, moose, etc safety quite seriously and don’t eat next to where we sleep. Have never had a bad encounter and really hope we always keep it that way. 🤞
The two of you looked quite comfortable in the hammock.. Awesome hillside camp... and well the cooking ... Now I am hungry ...LOL
Hi Max! The hammock is quite comfy indeed. Hope you found some Pho, or something else that satiated your hunger. 😆 Hope you are doing well! Cheers!

@@KettleCamping not the Erizo, I’m thinking of your Canadiense.

Out of curiosity, what would you do if a bear decided to visit? Is just bear spray enough?
