I am making an elephant for my soon to be one year old granddaughter. No safety eyes. Crocheted two eyes which were cute but comical on elephant. Game changer this was! Thankyou! I wish I had started with you sooner. I am now following you for more tips. You have made my morning.

🥰🥰🥰
@SarahsHooksandLoops Thank you for making this tutorial. It was very helpful for me, Im a beginner when it comes to Amigurumi and I am making a Ducky for my channel and I have been trying to find ways to make the eyes look appealing to the face. Everytime I make an eye it takes away from the cuteness of the duck. You taught some really helpful tips on here Thank you.
I’m so happy this tutorial has been really helpful for you. I love this style of eyes and they certainly add that extra cuteness to every amigurumi 🥰
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I wanted to ask if you had any tips on adding a bit of color to the eye? thank you
You're very welcome, Amy. I normally add a strand of colour in place of the white stitch using DK yarn and then make an additional stitch at the side of the coloured stitch with white yarn (be sure to guide the stitches as you make them so they sit side by side). You may wish to try out different yarn thicknesses too for the coloured part, so you can see how they compare. Hopefully that helps you, I'd love to know how they turn out ☺
Thankyou...❤
You’re most welcome 🥰
Love this technique! Do you think it would work with blue/green eyes?
Thank you so much! 🥰 You could maybe try adding a bit of colour between the black and white part by making a stitch or two of green or blue. This will be subtle but will add a bit of colour ☺️
I will definitely try it and thanks so much for the suggestion! ❤
This is a great tutorial and I can’t wait to try it on my first doll. I had one question though, when you are making the black part of the eye, do you put all of the stitches through the same starting and ending holes and just push them around to make the shape or do you sew through neighbouring holes as well?
Awww! Thank you Jennifer!! I really hope you enjoy making these eyes, they look super cute on dolls 🥰 In answer to your question, I work through the same holes for the black part and adjust them so they sit sort of side by side and not stacked on top of each other if that makes sense! ☺️ the only time I don’t work in the same hole is when doing the white at the top of the eye, I go slightly out to the outer side of the black for that part xx
❤️
Thank you for the tutorial. Can it be done once you have the complete body?
Yes, you can embroider the eyes anytime, so as you make the head or after you’ve finished the body. It’s entirely down to your own preference 🥰
