Did you just start or finish an amigurumi project and need eyes for it? Don't let the lack of having safety eyes keep you from making the amigurumi of your dreams! I show you my 3 favorite ways to put eyes on my amigurumi projects in this TUTORIAL video! I have used all of these techniques for all of the summer vibes amigurumi that I have shared in the past 3 weeks on my channel!
MY FAVORITE 3 WAYS FOR AMIGURUMI EYES ARE:
1. French knot
2. Embroidered Eyes
3. Tie a knot
The FRENCH KNOT can be pretty tricky, it takes a lot of practice!
EMBROIDERED EYES are my personal favorite. They are cute, quick, and easy to do.
The TIE A KNOT method is my least favorite, I recommend only using this method if you're making an item that won't be used as a toy as it isn't as secure as the other two methods.
Sorry there is no voice in this tutorial on making eyes. My home is really loud with three young children! Nevertheless, I hope that this tutorial for eyes on amigurumi is helpful to you!
0:00 The French Knot {open eyes}
2:10 Embroidered {closed eyes}
4:23 Tie A Knot {open eyes, best for amigurumi not used as toy}
Thanks for doing that, I’m sure it will help people out! ❤️
thank you. I have not seen the third way before.
You’re welcome! The third way is pretty unique and is better for amigurumi that will be sitting on a shelf rather than being played with by littles. Thanks for watching! ❤️
thanks a lot for this! I always wondered how crocheters make cute amigurumi eyes without using buttons... ^^
Thanks for watching! It takes a lot of patience, that’s for sure!
Thank you for this! I’ve never been able to do eyes properly, but my project turned out great because of your video!!💜
I’m so glad to hear that my video was helpful for you! Thanks so much for your feedback!
Omg. I love your channel name! You are very talented. It’s very relaxing to watch. ❤️
Thank you so much!
Another nearly zen, relaxing video. You illustrated the different types of eyes very well! Love your channel and all the cute things you create. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! So glad you love it here! 🥰
You can also use those round (like a ball) black buttons that you can tack onto your face. They are usually sold in a pkg of 4 or 6 hanging up where other craft bits & pieces are at. There are also very small flat black buttons that I've seen used for eyes.
I’ve seen those before, but never used them. That’s a great idea! 😁
What do you do with the yarn tails that are sticking out of the face? Also can you do this when the head is already sewn shut? Thank you 😊
I just send the hanging tails through the crochet piece and pull my needle out the other side then cut them off. & Yes! You can do them with the head shut! That’s is what I did here & is my favorite way to do it because I feel like it helps me get my eye placement “perfect” on both sides! I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!
@@GracefullyUnraveledHey! I want to make a toy for a baby and you know how curious they are .. they will take out the eyes :)) What could I do to keep the eyes fixed? I love your videos!
I recommend using safety eyes instead of embroidering them. My toddler has ripped the embroidered face out of numerous lovies that I have made, unfortunately!
Safety eyes aren’t very expensive, but they can be difficult to find at some stores.
I hope this helps & sorry for not getting back to you sooner!
❤️❤️❤️
This was so helpful! Keep making videos like these, your doing so great❤
I’m so glad that it was helpful for you! & you are so kind for saying that, thank you so much! ❤️
@@GracefullyUnraveled Of course!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
This is cool! I've always struggled to do the eyes
Thanks 💕💕💕
Thank you! They take a lot of practice! I still mess up a lot! 🤪
Thank you for watching 😊
You did such an amazing job explaining!!!!!...........U just won a subscriber
Thank you! 😊 you are so kind!!
@@GracefullyUnraveled Thank you for this video! I needed this for my frog I’m making❤️🐸
What do you do with the tail ends of the black yarn? Do you just cut them ?
I send them through the toy, both ends out the same hole, then tie a knot, then weave in the remaining ends.
Thank you for sharing this blessing to you and your family
Thank you so much! God bless you! ❤️
Are you supposed to tie the two ends when your done?
Yes! Send them through the same hole, tie them together & then send them back through
Very helpful. Thank you
I’m glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feed back! 🥰
thanks so much! now I don't need to order them for like 7 quid of amazon!
You’re welcome! I’m glad you get to save some money!
@@GracefullyUnraveled thanks.. can you make a tutorial on how to make christmas snowmans with hats? that will be nice, i want to make one for my mum :) thanks (again)

@@GracefullyUnraveled thanks :)
The Tie a knot was simple and exactly what I was looking for! Thank you very much!!
You’re very welcome! I’m so glad that my video was helpful for you 💕
How do you tie them off since you went through the full body. Wouldn’t the black show in the back. Or do you use glue on the back side so you don’t have to tie off?
With that method there’s no way to tie it afterward unless you haven’t closed off your ami yet. This method is best for ami that will sit on a shelf as decoration vs being played with/snuggled with.
Wow very good video I love your video so much ❤️👍
I’m glad you love it, I hope it was helpful! ❤️
Great job, Grace! 😍
*_You're the best!_*
Excellent thank you so much 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you for your kindness!
Third one is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much!❤
Glad you found it helpful! ❤️
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It’s very easy to follow along!! 💗
I’m so glad that it was helpful for you! Thanks for watching! ❤️
3rd one is best for beginers cuz it dont involve tapestry needles
I agree! All you need is a way to attach the eyes, but you could probably use a crochet hook for that. *Thanks so much for watching!*
Excellent video. Thank you.
Thank you!! ❤️
Love the crochet eyes. What type, weight of yarn do you use? Cant wait to try this.
It all depends on the project. If I used worsted weight yarn I will normally use a sport weight yarn. If I used chunky yarn I normally use worsted weight yarn. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching & I hope your Ami eyes turn out great! ❤️
@@GracefullyUnraveled perfect thank you!
This is brilliant! Thank you!!!
So glad it helped you!
I love these ideas for young children. No choking hazards!
Yes, I agree! I do have a more recent video of Ami eyes, if you’d like to watch it?

I’m so glad it was helpful! I hope they enjoy their gift! ❤️
Here is a more recent video on embroidering eyes for amigurumi if you’d like to try it? 😊

@@GracefullyUnraveled sure! I’ll check it out thanks again!
I make it and looks so cute, thank u! 💕
I’m glad it worked for you! ❤️
I do not understand this are you using a different string for the wrapping part??
It’s the same strand, it’s very tricky & takes a lot of practice!
im sorry but I can't get a knot for the first one I'm really confused how you do it 😭
Awe, I’m sorry that you weren’t able to make it. It’s pretty tricky to make!
@@GracefullyUnraveled i did try the others though and they were really helpful, so thanks a lot!!
@@stxn_cxld7342 You’re welcome, I’m glad you were able to find a solution. Thanks for letting me know that my video was helpful, I really appreciate your kindness! ❤️
I’m having trouble getting the French knot to work as well lol. Dunno what I’m doing wrong!!! Hopefully the third one will work for me we will find out in like 12 hours lol
After the eye is made, how do you keep it from pulling out of the head? Is there a way to tie a knot on the inside?
If you put the eyes on before you fill and finish it then you would be able to tie a knot. Another way you could try to keep it secure if you’ve already filled and stuffed is to send the needle back and forth several times to get the yarn caught in the filling. I hope this helps!
@@GracefullyUnraveled Thank you very much : )
@@rosier3197 you’re very welcome! ❤️
Love this ty
Glad it was helpful! ❤️
Thank you
Thank you for watching! ❤️
wait. how do you secure the last type of eye? seems like you can just pull it away... *sigh...
That’s what I do, if I use that technique my Ami will be surely sitting on a shelf for its life. I don’t recommend that way if you’re using it for a toy/lovey.
@@GracefullyUnraveled but that would be such a shame... beautiful Amis should be "loved" 😔
You are right! ❤️
I found this very helpful, so thank you for sharing, it is much appreciated -
