She wound up shaving her head, and wearing a platinum wig for six months, until her hair grew back. I had that wig for years.
She's such an idiot. I felt bad for her until finding out that the ER was trying to help her when she decided to leave and claim they didn't do anything (donors to her GpFundMe are getting refunds since she left the ER instead of letting them continue removing it...she got impatient), and then found out she already had management lined up, indicating that this was planned, and then found out she's a school teacher who is planning to sue Gorilla because the can says "multi-purpose," but doesn't explicitly state not to use on hair even tough it says not to use on skin and is permanent.

Wow I have never seen mean Brad before, he's usually so supportive. I thought the highest crime in his book was bleaching the roots first but nope, it's clearly putting curling rods in randomly
This is remarkable and informative. My hairdresser would be appalled. I always thought my hairdresser was over the top with her perming protocols, now I think not. You need a Pre-appointment assessment of your hair with pre-perm instructions if she agrees to do it, also advising how much hair will probably need to be cut off once down. There is no touching your hair for two days afterwards including a silk loose hair wrap to wear for those two days and for sleeping in from then on. And finally the week after post perm inspection. I’m sure she would literally have a seizure watching this.
@@violetsavage193 I think we all want her to be ok. But did she have zero common sense? She couldn't have googled this first? Now she wants to sue?! She saw this as a money making opportunity and here we are. She has a go fund me. Black celebrities are supporting her. And she is gonna sue
I grew up in an era where everyone’s mom gave their daughters a perm I’ve given myself perms many times. After watching this I consider myself very very lucky lol
To be fair, in the 80's, people took perming seriously, and you wouldn't find people doing their first perms on their own like this. You learned how from someone who knew how, then took the instructions very, very seriously. A lot of these people in these videos wouldn't do as badly if they literally followed the instructions. I swear, half of cosmetology school is having it drilled into you to follow the instructions exactly instead of ignoring steps. But these people always ignore steps since, if they don't know why something it done, they do it their own way. You don't need to know WHY you use a clarifying shampoo to still follow that instruction.
My mom has done her perms for years. Since she grew up in the 70s and 80s...perms were the style. My mom permed the bottom half of my hair only so it wouldn't be super puffy. I loved it. Glad they weren't a disaster
I have extremely thick hair that holds a curl great, but it took 2 full sets of hot rollers (it was the 70s, folks) so instead I gave myself perms for years. They didn't make "body waves" with gentler solution back then, so I just used the largest perm rods I could buy but with a regular perm solution -- PERFECT! The rollers gave me a larger curl pattern and the standard solution held it. I still got my haircut at the salon, and my stylist loved it so much that she started doing it on her clients! Haven't had a perm since the early 80s, but there's no forgetting that smell - burns my nostrils just thinking about it. lol
This is a great teaching resource thanks Brad! My Grade 11 hairstyling class is right in the middle of our chemical texture unit and we are discussing perms ... this will tie in nicely with our chat on sections, size of rollers and processing time!! (also thanks for bleeping out the curses lol) cant wait to show them this video tomorrow!
In cosmetology school we decided to “perm my hair straight” well I left that day sobbing pulling chunks of hair out. Well my now husband was in the parking lot to pick me up. And proposed. Right then and there. With my snot covered face and fists full of hair. Mhm. Beautiful memories.
I'm a hairdresser in Germany. I've never seen this foamy solution but I always apply the neutralizer with a sponge. It's actually a really common technique. ☺️
I watched a friend that was going to cosmology school do a perm. She did an excellent job.She used very small perm rods and curled each one in opposite directions of each other. Because naturally curly hair does not curl in one direction. She also trimmed the split ends before she started curling the hair.
As a stylist that specializes in perms, I was literally yelling at my phone, from the start. 😅🙈 I'm only on the first one & losing it. LMAO. WHY would this chick just create her own rules for a perm?! Ahhhh! So frustrating. I know it's costly, but it's worth it when done right. I'm able to adjust my prices & so are some other stylists, bc we want to avoid ppl ruining their hair & coming to us later, asking for us to fix it & inevitably paying much more altogether. She's lucky she didn't destroy her hair. Onto the next! 🙄😅
The worst is when they don’t want to use our products to repair any of the damage. They think it can be fixed by growing it out with cheap over the counter stuff.

I went for a perm consultation a few years ago. The stylish denied my request and told me that all the color on my hair would most likely melt my hair once the perm solution is applied. I was so crushed but I was so grateful that she was honest and not trying to just make money.
The last girl though... the whole time she talked about how she knew she did wrong, how hairstylist watching were probably cringing, and then before the "reveal" she said: "I hope I did this right?"... Wow
My grandma used to perm her own 'boy short' hair. Up until she was 90 something... She made it seem so easy, hard work, but easy. I had no idea this was so complicated
why would anyone be "impatient" to ruin their hair faster..? lmao, like what? "guys, I know what I'm supposed to do, but I'm just impatient to get this hair ruined as soon as possible, so"
I color my own hair at home with semi permanent dyes. And that takes me a couple of hours to do. I’d rather take more time to do it properly. What’s the point in rushing it only to make your hair splotchy in the end? If you don’t want to put in the time necessary to do your hair right, just don’t bother
In the defense of a cosmetologist who “forgot the color wheel”.... sometimes you fuck up and hope it looks good! (She’s my mother... she was doing my roots.... now I’m a red head cause the roots went gold and then I wanted all my hair gold.... and it went down hill from there)
Some of us have strengths in different areas and mine wasn’t in perms that’s for sure! She must have gone to school years ago and forgot some parts or wasn’t good at it.

Back in the 80's, my friend's mum used to perm my hair using a home kit - and it always turned out just as I wanted. 😊 I haven't had a perm since, and certainly wouldn't try perming my own hair - I know my limitations! 🤣🤣 On another note, at the very beginning of this video, I almost had to cry... until Brad said 'You look ravishing today' - then all is suddenly well again in my world 🥰🤣
Many many moons ago... hell, actually decades, I decided to perm the top of my hair to give it more body. As a professional, I knew what I was doing, and I did a fantastic job. Except I forgot that I had a few highlights lurking amongst the dyed hair on my head. So two of the rods came out looking like overcooked noodles. Fortunately, I had otherwise great hair and a was able to mask it very well with styling.
I have never ever permed my own hair. Had mine permed at hairdressers UK. I have always bleached my own hair for over 20 year's!! Thank goodness always went well. Would never bleach my hair more than once. Been purple pink red blue, turquoise my best colour I love is purple punk. So LOVE watching your videos xxx
I got a perm 2 weeks ago, and the “professional” completely effed my hair up. I had virgin hair and first she used rollers that were too big. I showed her a picture of the curl pattern I wanted, and she used the big orange ones. I wanted like grey or white ones. She rolled my hair so crappy that there were fish hooks all over my head and my hair is now like rubber bands. She was alone at the salon so when her boss came in and saw my hair I could tell by her expression that my ish was messed up. Not only did I not get the curls I wanted but my hair went from extremely healthy to nearly fried off my head. I now am stuck with it because it’s too damaged to do anything else to it. It’s so embarrassing and I honestly don’t even wanna leave my house looking like I do.
Oh no i feel very bad for you, i really hope you can somehow fix it. Go to a different hairstylist and ask them how to handle it. Maybe they have something nutritional for your hair and maybe a little 2cm cut will help the ends. Wish you the best 🍀
I'm a retired hairdresser. I did hair back in the hay day of perms of the late 70's into the 1980's in the salon. I then went into theatrical hair. I can toll and do the prettiest perms. When asked how could I c stand the smell of the solution, I said it smells like money to me. The foam solution came out in the professional world in about 1980. It's an exothermic solution. Loving your videos!!!! I live in Oklahoma and I was on trend and wearing a wonderful deep eggplant purple back in 1982. These types of colors were only being seen out on the coast. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Brad for teaching me how to cut my husband's hair during lockdown and now I manage to give him a different hairstyle each time I cut it because I'm *that* bad at following instructions.

@@ariaalexandria3324 She showed her discharge paperwork and they sent her home with a solution. She left the hospital when what they tried started burning her scalp. She also never tried to sue. That was a rumor.
Dear Brad Mondo,
I just wanna say thank you. Thank you for being a safe place on the inteternet where i dont have to deal with all the ridiculousness of our world right now.
Sincerely,
Super fan Holly
My grandma permed my hair when I was 13, and it was flawless. She was not a hairdresser, just a schoolteacher, but she was amazing.
She likely FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS
I loved my perms!
I love how in the beginning of the first video she washes her hair and he goes “we got the first step done right at least” and then the lady explains how she didn’t do it right
i was feeling chaotic and my current workplace doesn’t allow “unnatural” hair colours but this video put the fear of god in me... thank you king for making me think twice
It totally wrecks the condition
Technically grey is a natural hair color so you could get a little funky with it.
Red is a natural color
“I’m not gonna put the cotton around my hair”
Ah yes, risking blindness for the sake of saving two minutes definitely makes sense
I love you brad!! I bleached my daughters hair the other day, and all I could hear in my head was your voice lol. And it came out perfect! All one color and no hair gone. Thanks for being awesome, and helping moms like me not jack their kids hair up!! 🤣🤣🤣💜💜🥰🥰🥰
Wow I have never seen mean Brad before, he's usually so supportive. I thought the highest crime in his book was bleaching the roots first but nope, it's clearly putting curling rods in randomly
I love how calmly he says "let's watch people ruin their hair." Lmao.
When you've been in bed dealing with an autoimmune flare and Brad calls you ravishing and you smile for the first time all day *chefs kiss*
Flares are the worst. I hope you start feeling better ❤️
Feel better🤎
Sending extra spoons of Love!! 🥄❤️🥄❤️🥄❤️🥄❤️

I’m sure she would literally have a seizure watching this.
waiting for BRAD’S reaction to the GORILLA GLUE HAIR GIRL 😭
Yeeeesssss
I need this
Oh yes hahaha
I really hope that poor girl is ok
@@ariaalexandria3324 perfectly said
When i was a kid i remember my grandpa would perm my moms hair in our kitchen. lol That was the early to mid 90's
My mom has done her perms for years. Since she grew up in the 70s and 80s...perms were the style. My mom permed the bottom half of my hair only so it wouldn't be super puffy. I loved it. Glad they weren't a disaster
@@ariaalexandria3324 that was really well said
I have extremely thick hair that holds a curl great, but it took 2 full sets of hot rollers (it was the 70s, folks) so instead I gave myself perms for years. Haven't had a perm since the early 80s, but there's no forgetting that smell - burns my nostrils just thinking about it. lol
Did this people not watch Legally Blonde.
Exactly my thought!!!
😂
omg ammonium thioglycolate
That's exactly what went through my head 😂
Curls weren't a good look for him, he didn't have her bone structure.
I love how that last girl went from- "I know I'm doing this wrong"- to- "I hope I did this right" 🤣
This is a great teaching resource thanks Brad! My Grade 11 hairstyling class is right in the middle of our chemical texture unit and we are discussing perms ... this will tie in nicely with our chat on sections, size of rollers and processing time!! (also thanks for bleeping out the curses lol) cant wait to show them this video tomorrow!
Yess girl, put the fear of god in them lol they’ll never do a perm wrong after this mess
The only mans opinion I will ever trust is Brad Mondo’s
same literally!
Yessss lmao
Same
Thissss
Maybe only about hair though. XD
In cosmetology school we decided to “perm my hair straight” well I left that day sobbing pulling chunks of hair out. Well my now husband was in the parking lot to pick me up. And proposed. Right then and there. With my snot covered face and fists full of hair. Mhm. Beautiful memories.
I’m crying 😭 beautiful family you have
Thats sounds so beautiful lol

He must love you lots for real💖💖💖
@@cylversprings so very true. And a near pixie cut to match 😂
I'm a hairdresser in Germany. I've never seen this foamy solution but I always apply the neutralizer with a sponge. It's actually a really common technique. ☺️
I've seen perm solutions like that from different Asian countries as well
Thank you for helping me procrastinate with my school work. ☺️

I did a perm in highschool, but only because my mom was the queen of home-perms

Brad: “You look beautiful today..”
Me laying in bed stuffing my face while wearing a 10 year old bonnet I found in the closet: “meh”
If we could share pics on UA-cam comments like Facebook......... you're sooooo not alone!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 but it's fine I'll take it.
Ur profile picture look cute
”I hated every second of that. Hope you enjoyed it” 😂
“alright beauty school didnt teach us anything, we barely passed didnt we” 😂 brad i’m crying
I'm only on the first one & losing it.
Yeah and if we are honest the girls results were bad, it doesn't look good.
The worst is when they don’t want to use our products to repair any of the damage. They think it can be fixed by growing it out with cheap over the counter stuff.
I’m living for bitchy brad i related to this mood more than I’d like to admit
Sadly ,me too.
I wouldn’t call him bitchy I’ve seen worse. But brutally honest Brad is the best.
It’s hard to always use kind words when people are being morons 🤦🏻♀️
@@lorriebishop5005 agreed! Lol
@@tays9138 yeah but calling him bitchy is almost like calling him mean. Yeah he can be a lot worse he’s a hair dresser theyre critical but Brad is a nice guy: bitchy just sounds like a word for mean people which we all know Brad isn’t
I went for a perm consultation a few years ago. The stylish denied my request and told me that all the color on my hair would most likely melt my hair once the perm solution is applied. I was so crushed but I was so grateful that she was honest and not trying to just make money.
My mom was a cosmetologist and she used to do my grandma’s perms in her kitchen and this video is just taking me back to those good ole days
The last girl caused me to start singing “Beauty School Dropout” from Grease.
Bless.
The last girl though... the whole time she talked about how she knew she did wrong, how hairstylist watching were probably cringing, and then before the "reveal" she said: "I hope I did this right?"... Wow
"gross frizzy hair" sounds like my current hair naturally 😂

Just feel like “this’ll do” is NOT something you say about a perm... 🥴
Omg that last girl 😭 has cosmetology license, admits that she's doing everything incorrectly, "I hope it looks good!" Ummm what lol
In the defense of a cosmetologist who “forgot the color wheel”.... sometimes you fuck up and hope it looks good! (She’s my mother... she was doing my roots.... now I’m a red head cause the roots went gold and then I wanted all my hair gold.... and it went down hill from there)
@@hollyshane2604 yeah but she literally said she was impatient to ruin her hair lmao she didn't seem to care one bit 😂😂
Some of us have strengths in different areas and mine wasn’t in perms that’s for sure! She must have gone to school years ago and forgot some parts or wasn’t good at it.
Im late to this party, but these comments have me rolling!!! From brad to dog groomers and pet owners, I am saving this video to come back to on dark days and when im contemplating bad decisions. Thanks, Brad and your fabulous followers!
3rd video: I'm a cosmologist and I know I'm doing this wrong and I don't care.
Also 3rd video: I'm going to take this out, I hope I did it right.

Why would anyone ever trust this person with their hair after seeing this video?!

Back in the 80's, my friend's mum used to perm my hair using a home kit - and it always turned out just as I wanted. 😊 I haven't had a perm since, and certainly wouldn't try perming my own hair - I know my limitations! 🤣🤣 On another note, at the very beginning of this video, I almost had to cry... until Brad said 'You look ravishing today' - then all is suddenly well again in my world 🥰🤣
Brad is actually making my day sm better when he uploads
Brad: “go to a professional”
A professional: “well that will do”
😂
Many many moons ago... hell, actually decades, I decided to perm the top of my hair to give it more body.
As a professional, I knew what I was doing, and I did a fantastic job.
Except I forgot that I had a few highlights lurking amongst the dyed hair on my head. So two of the rods came out looking like overcooked noodles.
Fortunately, I had otherwise great hair and a was able to mask it very well with styling.
You're not being really mean, you're being really honest. Don't listen to whoever wants to stop you and tell you to simmer down. Speak your mind, boo.

My mom is a hairdresser. I spent most of the 80’s and 90’s watching her wrap perms. It’s definitely an art!
the first couple annoyed me for some reason, especially the girl. can't say why

Gonna be that person to say maybe they should’ve used “perm” rods. the ones you have to snap on the end...😂😂😂😂
I remember my mom doing my hair with those in the early 90s when I was little bitty. I hated it. So. Much.
