Indian Windshield Motor Fix

- In this video we tackle one of the plagued issues Indian Motorcycles face, the dreaded plastic windshield motor gear. The plastic gear that is in the windshield motor assembly is prone to stripping out after many miles down the road. Mr. Steve Kovacs saw the need in the market and jumped at the opportunity to create a solution for this issue. He fabricated from Billet CNC aluminum a replacement for the weak plastic gear that will give you the peace of mind. If you are interested in purchasing one of these aluminum gears we stock them and also can be purchased directly from Steve Kovacs himself through facebook.

I’d like to thank Davidson Audio for this detailed video. I just changed my motor gear and it was not as hard as I thought it would be. I’ll be starting the installation of my 4 speaker Davidson audio package tomorrow. Thanks and keep up the good work!
I just changed mine two weeks ago. Lengthy process but well worth it! Nice video! Necessary in this El Paso heat! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much for the detailed instructions. It made changing out the part so much easier.
My Windshield just stopped working today; part on the way! Thanks for the info!
Great video, helped me a lot!
Just completed this on my 2018 Chieftain limited and it was crazy helpful!!!... bought the piece from the website and it fit like a dream!!!
I am glad this video and our website helped you accomplish the Job. If you ever need anything don’t hesitate to reach out
Thanks Brandon! Your video helped me out tremendously! I finally decided to complete the nut replacement today after having it on hand for almost two months. Why? Been enjoying riding and too hot to sit still in a hot garage. Overall, moderate level repair for the average guy in my opinion.
Pretty sure it’s Kovacs. Lol 😂
Thanks now to see if my motor still turns or I’ll be in touch to order this from you
Video helped me a lot but I had to switch back to the chieftain dark horse video you made on how to take the fairing off but yeah helped out a ton
How similar is the install on a 19 chieftain? And any word on recommended lubricant?
Considerably more drag at 60MPH between the Klockworks (which I do have) and stock. Or for that matter any windshield that’s larger than stock.
I have to wonder if anyone that has NOT changed to a larger Klockworks windshield and had this issue?
Could explain why Indian didn’t catch this.
Things are different when removing the gauge cluster Brandon spoke of on the 2020 Indian Roadmaster. Remove 2 screws in the phone storage box. Also, one screw from the left and right upper top speaker area to remove panel referenced at 3:50.
How do I get one of these bidet pieces if I don't have Facebook?
Where can get that part
What kind of handle bars are on that bike?
Same Problem Rainer from Germany.... Shop for this ??
Senks Rainer
There should have been a recall on that windshield motor. Everyone I know that has a windshield like that has a problem with that motor
they will fix it under warranty, recalls are typically for issues of safety
I just bought a 2023 PDH has this been corrected from the factory or is this something I need to do as well?
The 23 and newer bikes have a revised windshield gear that has a brass insert. We still replace them if the customer requests us to
What's the auto up or down? I have a 2020 indian challenger I bought it used don't know this feature
Hold the switch for auto up/down. Tap to adjust
Good part , but could use one finishing -touch.... the shuttle-block has two through-holes for the guide-rods to pass through , to guide the block's upward/downward travel.....
those holes (4) should Have a little a bevel so the sharp edges of the holes don't bite into the guide-rods....
ALSO... LUBE THE TWO GUIDE-RODS........
Looking for the video to start taking the fairing apart...

Thanks. I just replaced mines. And those 4 screws below the windshield mount are a pain in the butt 😂😂😂
Yeah this isn’t not a fun repair to make. But the end result is definitely worth it
Didn’t even use mine alot and it broke, luckily it broke down, that’s the way I like to ride.
I bought this piece and have it on the ready when my assembly needs a fix’.
We hope our video will walk you right through the process when that time comes
How can I get the Kovacs part to repair my cheiftan 2022 windshield

Thanks will do
@DavidsonAudio what's the dial code for the USA. I'm in 🇦🇺 Australia. Do you have an email address and cost please.
country code is 1 for USA@@indianchallengeraussieride8488
Where can I buy the piece?

I bet that would be a real cheap repair if you took it back to the Dealership you spent 30+ thousand dollars at. Oh Yeah!
There are different ways to look at it. It wasn’t until the 2023 year models that Indian corrected the faulty windshield gear. Being a customer with a 2020 model why would I want to go three years of potentially replacing the windshield gear from the dealership when I could replace it once and be done with it? Not to mention scheduling the appointment, down time with the bike being in the shop, etc. like I said we all have our reasoning for modifying and improving our bikes.
@@DavidsonAudio Excellent how to Video. My point was all this money for the Bike and it has this silly plastic geared motor on it. If you didn't have your tools and talent, had to take it to the Dealer they would bust your wallet several thousand bucks easy to tear apart that whole fairing plus the down time.
