    Great review! Glad to see you still enjoying the bike. I agree that it's a fun bike to man handle off road. Puts a smile on your face. The criticism of the geometry I think is valid. But as you said, can mostly be solved by a set-back seatpost. Will try look into the feasibility of offering a choice of seatpost. 🙌🙌

      Please do. I'd much rather buy a carbon seatpost from Winspace rather than spend $300 with other brands.

      Hey do you guys plan on restocking the size medium G2 or are you designing a G3? Just wondering because I'm planning on getting a frame in the next 2-3 months and based on this video I may need a size medium. Thanks!

    I have had one of these for a while now. I pained over the measurements at purchase and concluded that running a shorter stem got me in a good position. Upright and a bit further back. I really like the frame and the big clearance. I use it for everything "fun". Bike packing over 2 weeks with 2" XC tyres, fast grav rides on 38's, slick 35's with fenders for winter commuting. It's been great and great value. Some of the price comes in due to a bit lower quality. Mine arrived with quite a few of the bossed bolts cross threaded and a couple straight-up missing. I've also found the fork expander plug to be a bit average, it keeps coming loose. Over long offroad bike packing trip it kept vibrating loose and putting slack in the headset. a bit sketchy having a loose headset and also caused some paint cracking around the top of the head tube. But I'm living with it because of the value for money. Just my honest experience.

      I had the same problem with the paint cracking, Winspace recalled some early G2 stem expanders, check out the safety notices on their website. I asked them to send me a new one when I bought some wheels from them. Also I put in a 1mm spacer on the stem for the paint too.

      Whats the max spacers you can put under stem? 40mm normal as any other bikes off the shelf?

  • @DrewM66
    @DrewM66 Рік тому +2

    The short reach is what I wanted it is a more comfortable position for me. I built mine up with parts from my previous gravel bike so I used a Cane Creek eeSilk seat post so I never noticed the harsh ride. I also added the eeSilk 90mm stem and it made a world of difference. I can blast down bumpy downhills with confidence.

    I bought mine (green!) partially because of your last video. It's my gravel and bikepacking rig, but it does the majority of its kms as my daily commuter and the geometry is great for that. But I agree about the seatpost. I have a couple of friends who have Canyon Grails and those split setback seatposts are amazing

      @@JustRideAdelaide ..its actually a nice gravel frame..will take up to 45 tyres.. reasonably long rear stays ... 27.2mm setback seatpost. A few nice features like long top tube .... built in chain drop protector and a drainage grille near the bottom bracket to let any water out and an adjustable top bearing head tube system so effectively not using any spacers under the stem

    Seatback vs straight post is a fit parameter and should not be used to chase a certain ride quality. But it does change ride quality, but maybe for worse, if the fit is not correct.

    I got the 650b. Weak wheelset. After just several use it developed warps on the top edges near the spokes. They replaced the rear wheelset at first but when the front wheelset developed the same warps and so do the replacement, I was told that they cannot replace them anymore. What’s more upsetting is they had me wait for several months!

    another great review. just curious ... with the geometry of this frame, would you consider going up a frame size and using a shorter stem? do you think that would that solve any handling issues off road??

    • @JustRideAdelaide
      @JustRideAdelaide  2 роки тому +1

      I reckon a setback post and shorter stem is still the best way to chill out the geometry. Going up a frame size will make it suuuuuper tall at the front relative to your height

    • @kevjay-med1225
      @kevjay-med1225 2 роки тому

      @@JustRideAdelaide You're definitely more of an expert than I am, but my knee-jerk reaction to seeing you on that bike sure made it seem like the bike is a little too small for you. I also googled the geometry of a size medium giant revolt (which fits people at my height- 5'9) and its much closer to the size medium G2 than the small G2. If I were to size down it would be a bit cramped.

  • @fennec13
    @fennec13 2 роки тому +2

    yeah that geometry is what would have made me say NO on this bike, the bike is just too short - and as I have heart is harsh AF.
    and it really needs a 20-25 offset seatpost and a 80mm stem. i wouldn't want to be on a straight post with a 110mm stem on gravel, yikes.,

    Is it just me or is WinSpace sending out these bikes to a bunch of UA-camrs for product pimping? I know you claim to give honest reviews, but this causes me to doubt your opinions. When it comes to carbon, we are talking about peoples lives at risk. If you have chosen money/compensation over promoting a frame that has questionable fork integrity/durability/testing, that is sad.

    • @JustRideAdelaide
      @JustRideAdelaide  Рік тому +2

      A couple of things:
      1. I didn't get money or compensation. The build costs mean I'm actually out of pocket to make this review. Plus, the time and hardware investment in making these videos is significant.
      2. I'm not sure what you're saying about promoting the frame over potential safety issues. What safety issues specifically? I spoke very specifically about concerns with the fork and steerer design in the build video. I showed exactly what I didn't like about it and how we managed it.
      3. I've addressed the positives and negatives of my experience with the product across 2 videos and given everything I think potential buyers need to know. Is there something within the content that makes you to doubt what I said? It wasn't wholly positive. I said multiple things that Winspace wouldn't have liked. Do you think someone shilling for the brand would criticise the product?

    • @kendarcie6613
      @kendarcie6613 Рік тому

      @@JustRideAdelaide I am just saying there are a TON of UA-cam product pimps all of a sudden showing up with "winspace" frames. Some of these product pimps are admitting that Winspace is doing some sort of back door deal with them. I notice UA-cam pimps always give carefully worded explanations of how they came to own the product. So did they initiate contact with you? Did they give you the frame? Have you confirmed ANY stress testing on the fork to show saftety?
