This man's experience illustrates how the innate and universal divinity of human beings can shine through and manifest itself, inspite of the constraints of an inherently spiritually fascist religion such as islam, which he practiced, simply by accident of birth. All human beings, in spite of abrahamic religions (which are all spiritually fascist in essence) can eventually come to the realisation and knowledge of the Ultimate Reality, which always presents itself in the human personality, as peace, love, acceptance and pluralism of belief as the most valuable of all human experience and relation.
There is no way to keep the divine nature and manifestation of love and goodness within the human heart, down or suppressed, by any spiritually fascist religion, such as the abrahamic ones. Eventually, the divine always shines through in spite of the constraints of man made religious teachings.
Any person who turns within and meditates, will eventually find and come into contact with the infinite divinity within them, and experience ecstatic communion with the Ultimate Reality, often referred to as enlightenment in the older pluralistic spiritual traditions of the world, which discovered through millennia of inward spiritual exploration, that all is one, and that the divinity of the Ultimate Reality, permeates through all of creation, inspite of the efforts of certain recent religions which are spiritually fascist in nature, and essentially seek to seperate humans from the divine, and wrongly teach that divinity is something that is external and seperate from us, rather than something that is inherent within all, and simply needs to be reawakened and expereinced through internal spiritual exploration and various methodology.

I'm an Algerian and I'm ashamed that that only thought of him as a military leader, i really enjoyed this video, you've done an amazing job telling his story.
Im Afghan and i knew about his piety and mercy during war. Another Mujahid figure similar to him was the Libyan Omar Al-Mukhtar who was also an Imam. He led his people in an uprising and fought against the Italians from 1911-1931 until they captured and executed him.There is a movie about him called 'Lion Of The Desert'.

I am Mauritanian (a neighbour of Algeria) and we study about his heroics against the French. I Also knew he was a great sufi influential but never knew this much about him. Thank you.
Algeria has a very strong sufi culture but lately sufism in the country has been under huge attack and stigma in Algeria. Although it is also the birthplace of Cheikh Tijani (the founder of the Tijaniya sufi Taqriqa which is one of the largest sufi tariqs in north and western Africa), Algerians today really stigmatise sufism. Every Algerian I talk to about sufism and some of their famous figures seem to really looked down at anything related to it.

This is because the Sufism of today is not the same as the Sufism of the past. They have invented many things, such as their own prayers, types of dance, and many superstitions that they believe in. There is nothing wrong with learning about cultures, but we will remain on the foundations of our true religion and adhere to the Qur’an and the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet. We cherish the example of Abdul Qadir and pray for them. With mercy and forgiveness. We coexisted with the Shiites as well, and today look at what they do, insulting and attacking the honor of the Messenger and his companions, and even distorting Foundations of religion . All the sects that were created by some people were in the beginning simple disputes, perhaps over a rule or a political dispute such as the caliphate, but as time passes, we see strange things that we can hardly believe that they are muslims
It's because starting from1900 the french started using the sufi imams to stop the Algerian regular uprisings basically making the imams menuplate the Algerians into thinking french colonialism is qda'a and qader from god and we do not need to fight against it
Not a wrong but not a right assessment either. You have to know sufism in Algeria is still waving in the original mood, wisdom and discretion. The sufi tariqas such as Tijania, Qadiriya, Belkaidiya, Alaouia, Reggania, Rahmanie and so on are still very powerfull and deeply implemented. Those who stigmatise sufism are just a buncj of so called seculars that dont understand a word about what's a north african society means, they'e just a showing up shouting mo*rons who calls for a western obol, true beggars. All the time shouting make them look like really numerous but they're not, they're actually a showing off insignificant minority.

This is why, you will find a few exceptional awakened people like him, even in spiritually fasisct traditions of the abrahamaic religions, because the divine cannot be suppressed nor obliterated by anything.

Humans that are spiritually suppressed are easier to control after all, so such religions, that seperate us from the divine, are attractive to those who manipulate and control humanity. You cannot control an awakened being, so you have to give the masses, religions that hamper and suppress the pathways to enlightenment and direct communion with the divine. And while this may work to keep the masses suppressed, it will not work with exceptional individuals, who will awaken inspite of whatever religion they are born into. SO we will always have people like this man who shine through regardless of the teachings of spiritually fascist religions.

Actually, I believe it is still practiced although not as widespread but it now has more of a negative reputation mainly due to salafi's influence.

I have come to know of Abd al-Qadir al-Jaza'iri later than I should have in my time on Earth, but I am glad of knowing his message. Even as an atheist I respect his wishes and practices, he is truly a man worthy of reverence and respect. Rest in peace brother.
I am from northwest of Pakistan. I first heard about him in a history book in school. There was a brief chapter about him, since then I was so interested to know more and always wondered why his life is not explained in more detail.
The Sufis were not just mystics. Most of the early Islamic resistance groups and leaders against colonial powers were Sufis. Like imam Shamil of Dagestan, who fought against Russian imperialism and sheikh izzudin al Qasim. The first to stand up and fight for Palestinians against Zionists. It angers me when Muslims mock them arrogantly today instead of doing thier homework. Thank you for sharing this story.

1.Imam Shamil Naqshabandi sufi fought against Russia from chechnya, dagestan.
2. Abdul kadir al jazari from 🇩🇿 algeria fought against french, he even has a statue in america for his jihad lol ( jihad wasn't terrorism back then).
3. Anglo afghan wars against British. The large number of Afghans were sufi muslims.
4. Said nursi was a kurdish sufi who fought against soviet union. He preached islam in secular turkey. He is the reason why Islam exists in turkey today.
5. Omar Al-Mukhtar from Libya from senouusi order fought against mussolini fascist Italy. Back in the days of ottoman empire. Omar al mukhtar was called ameer al mujahideen. Commander of mujahideen.
6.Sheikh ahamdu bamba he rejected the jihad of sword or gun per se but adopted jihad of pen. He preached islam taught great social cohesion stability. He emerged as great inspiration for west Africans especially for our Senegalese brothers.
There are examples in Indonesia and Malaysia. People who fought against Dutch colonialism and either fought against it or like ahmedu bamba they preached islam
Also Omar al Mukhtar from Libyan Senousi Sufi Order who fought against Italian colonialists. May Allah be Pleased with them

Abd al-Qadir al-Jaza’iri, Sufi (1808-1883) - A Sufi (Islamic mystic), scholar and political leader, Abd al-Qadir or Abd al-Qadir al-Jaza’iri, was an Algerian who led a struggle against the French invasion in the mid-nineteenth century, for which he is seen by some Algerians as their national hero. In 1864 he was a Freemason in Lodge Henri IV in Paris, but his degree work was conducted at the Lodge of the Pyramids, Alexandria, Egypt

I feel peace and serenity in their presence.
Sufism, in its beginning, was elitist, meaning the class of scholars and thinkers. However, after the fall of Baghdad at the hands of the Mongols, ignorance spread in society, Sufism mixed with the folklore of some Muslim peoples, and heresies and grave worship increased.

Thank you for representing Tasawwuf more accurately than most. The reality is, tasawwuf in its popular practise (and accepted definition from within) is not seperate from Islam (as you've said in previous videos), Sufis too accept Islamic Law and people should understand this. Unfortunately, due to mistranslations of Mawlana Rumi (Qaddas Allahu Sirrah), for example, we get people thinking not only is "Sufism" a different religion from Islam but some sort of syncretic religion or something (we seek refuge in God from such an allegation). You've also represented Mawlana Rumi pretty well and that is another thing I appreciate. You're breaking the strange perceptions about tasawwuf from those out of it looking in. Always found your content to be quality, and like I said it is appreciated from the Muslim community and those involved in tasawwuf. May the Truth grant us all guidance to Him, amin.
Did the prophet (pbuh) teach sufism? is sufism mentioned in the quran? did the sahaba practice sufism? no? then its not part of islam... simple as that. Its an innovation and some practices go completely against islamic teachings...

I'm no follower of tasawuf but I can exactly see their values.
It's just sad people nowadays acclaiming themselves as a tasawuf follower but skipping the basics of practicing Islam in whatever reason they made up.
The great people of Sufism are actually a stern conservatists who fully practice Islam, even before starting studying to think Sufism.

The song mentions other Walis (Sufi saints) and it’s like a prayer evoking the souls of these Walis asking for healing from the wounds of love for a woman. The song is actually very active and not slow or sad as one might expect upon knowing the songs ‘s theme.
I'm not even Algerian, but I started singing this song as soon as I saw the title of the video xD It's very famous in the Arab world :D
