Nah, if they're gonna give them a break it needs to be unintentionally funny. Like the possibility they might turn to Chaos and the 4 Ruinious Powers are like "Oh no, no, no no... Hell no." and basically give the Lementers "Good Luck" by just tripping up their own plans and just feeding them wins...
All the while Big E just looks on confused at just what the hell is happening.
Personal theory- The lamenters *are* in fact supernaturally unlucky. The Emperor takes their luck, and gives it to others, not because he hates them, but because he knows they're the only ones with the strength of character to take it and stay loyal.

I'm not even a huge Blood Angels fan, but the Lamentors? If I could send them a care package I would. A care package filled with chocolate, coffee, band-aids and the latest boltgun ammo that has the name of every Minotaur carved into it.

Someone once pointed something put to me about them. They seem like they're horrifyingly cursed with bad luck. But for the people who they rescue its almost like god reached out and rescued them. Its almost like the luck of the lamenters has been weaponized to protect the people behind them.
Well no their not the first super soldier project of the mechanicus to have this bad luck. The Afriel strain actually have even worse luck despite being clones of the greatest human heroes of the imperium

There's always the saying "no one is truly good in 40k". They're the exception.
Its a meme, there are lots of people like lamenters in 40k
One of my favorite Lamenter moments is the time they had to solo a Space Hulk that just by going nearby it drove people, astartes, literally anyone absolutely off the walls. The only chapter that was immune was the Lamenters and ultimately they alone were able to destroy this Space Hulk, but an Inquisitor then accused them of heresy for not destroying a massive space hulk that drove half a planet mad fast enough... The Badab story is a wild one if I've ever seen... I'll never forget when a sun was used to break a space siege fun times...
Yeah, a space hulk that drove people insane with a massive terror field and the Lamenters can endure because they are so beaten down already.
And they did everything against the hulk. While others only used longest range space weapons, because anything else would risk them going insane.
The Lamenters charged the whole thing, send all the boarding parties they could to rip up generators and whatever they could find, *while* their ships blasted the hulk with every weapon available.
So while their own people were inside they still shot everything at it, just so they could do the most damage.
The Lamenters are so extremely competent, because they can still win despite everything.
Please tell me that at least the Inquisitor's claims were disregarded. There is no way that the Lamenters would get that level of bullshit, right?
@@kieranadamson3224 He was and I quote, escorted to an airlock where he was promptly thrown through the vacuum of space to his ship. Or at least some varient of this by the Astral Claws who the inquisitor told them they would be reporting this once he returned to Terra.

Everybody who survived gathered.
Then the inquisitors who were there chastised the Lamenters and essentially told them they didn’t do enough. Basically instead of „Thx for stopping this getting even worse“ they said „Fuck you, your best was not good enough by a planet width. You are lucky you don’t get punished for incompetence.“
Then they left. Just another spit into the Lamenters‘ face and just another reason why they stuck with the Astral Claws who actually treated them like equals.

In the book Dante it is said that the Lamenters replied to the call saying they where rebuilding the chapter after everything that has happened. To which Dante was like that is unstable and not surprising, and another was like do we really even want them here to help us…. That is if I recall that part of the book correctly. It’s been just over a month or so. Dam good book by the way.
Pretty sure the only reason the Blood Angels beat Leviathan at Baal is because the Lamenters were smart enough to skip that fight.

I'm really glad the Lamenters are here because even know they are at the lowest point they still fight on for those they care about and and staying true to who they are. it's something I've really found inspiring and helpful when dealing with my own depression/mental health. Thankyou guys for covering them!
Man, I want to hug these guys. They suffered so much and one of the most admirable Chapters I've ever heard. They truly deserve happiness.
The Rememberancer did a great job with some audio shorts on the Lamenters. Warhammer+ should definitely do a series on them to showcase the grimdark of the universe as well as show that not even the humans are the”good guys” of the setting.

So, fun fact, there is a Blood Angel successor that is able cure those Battle Brother afflicted with the Black Rage, and that is the Angels Sanguine, and they use this pedestal called the "Tablet of Lestrallio".
I believe the chapter you’re talking about is the Blood ravens. (I could be wrong, it’s been a minute since I read about them)
But, that “cure” isn’t a cure. It’s a lie & a trap under the guise of a contract. One of their old chapter masters mistakenly (it really was) made a deal with what he thought was an angel of sanguinius but it was really Kairos Fateweaver. Ultimately the deal was that, the blood ravens wouldn’t fall for the black rage (that was the “cure”), but if one, just one, ever did, the blood ravens chapter would be damned & under the control of tzeentch forever. They never really mentioned why tzeentch wants that particular chapter (maybe it’s their name) but…I don’t think we need a proper reason for why chaos in general wants something. It’s chaos after all.
@@AlextheGreat647 I think you are talking about Blood Drinkers.Blood Ravens’s origins are unknown and they are very heavily trying to find anything about it.Some Blood Drinker battle brothers find a figure they think sanguinius and he says “Drinking Blood slurp slurp.Black Rage bye bye ”.But it is actually a daemon trying to scam them and he oftenly comes back and offers a place in chaos.
War for Badab was a pretty big deal. And deserves its own episode.

I feel for the lamenters and how unlucky they are. I am one of those people with the worst luck around and I also understand that through it the only thing I want is to try an brighten other peoples day with a smile or a joke or even a conversation and sometimes it's hard but we can't give up. Keep spreading Joy everyone

For Me, The Lamenters embody a few different concepts, but the ones on the forefront are Optimism, Emotional Intelligence, and a simultaneous profoundly deep relationship with Grief & Hope.
Idk, Reading what I could of them, and listening to Vox in The Void's narrations of fanmade stories for them, I fell in love quickly. The duality of a borderlining naive hopefulness and a remarkably mature handle on their emotions just leads to a wonderful character design.
So happy to see this video.

I think these guys and the salamanders might get along if they end up having enough numbers before a get together. I mean the one group with the Primark most likely the hug anyone with depression it's the most likely to wave off the bad luck.
Canadian here! My great grandpa fought in WW1 he was an incredibly hard man. But… he was also the kindest in the family.
So he carried a duality that was incredible.

Fun fact for us Canadians in the wars. We were told to stop shooting pows, so we stopped taking them in general. We’d sneak slowly into trenches even if it took hours, killed all in our path, then stacked the dead in front of the sleeping enemies dorms forcing them to climb over their friends and comrades when they awoke. This is probably the most Warhammer 40k humanity has gotton besides the god damn holocaust.
To be fair to the astral claws, they were tasked with protecting this bit of space with definitely not enough ressources to do so and requested reinforcements multiple times. They took the matter into their own hands and built up their forces. Plus the rival sector, to which the tithe would have mostly gone to, was in direct conflict with them.
Surprised we got Lamenters instead of Sanguinius, though it's definitely a pleasant one.

So, yes - WW1 Canadians were basically the nightlords. The Geneva convention was basically the world going "Canada is scary - please so i can deal with the trauma".
No prisoners, experts in raiding trenches in the middle of the night, and several times we would toss food rations to build a clump of troops over weeks in the other trench just to have the last meal be a bag of nades and probably rusty nails. Then we invented the creeping barrage which must have sounded completely insane at the time.
You get on Canada's bad side, the true brutality comes out - forged in a country that is commonly frozen or scorching hot, and the very environment itself wants you dead. When we are told to go to a war, that's what i imagine bleeds into every soldier - dirty tactics, survival instinct, and a morbid sense of humour that combines into true monsters.
One of the main reasons i stay out of the military - I'm not ready to see that side of me yet
Honestly I’d love to see even a short story where some other chapter is fighting alongside the lamenters and it’s just brutal fighting and they’re just going “emperor what did we do to deserve this” and then one of the lamenters comes by and is thanking the emperor for an easier mission for once😂

you'd think after hearing about the lamenters' exploits on Slaughterhouse 3 the Salamanders would offer mechanical support.
I really want a Daemonuclaba episode from you guys because I know you ACTUALLY read the source material. WesHammer recently did a video on it and I think shined a light on the subject.
For those uneducated on how it became a staple of W40K cult fiction, Luetin did a deep dive covering Dead Sky, Black Sun(the book it comes from) and really laid out the gruesomeness in horrifying detail. The issue is, Luetin doesn’t read it in the same tone as the book. After his video about 200 creators did videos on it having never read the book and only ever knowing what they know from the giant game of telephone between creators.
Yes, it’s gnarly. But the whole book is. I’m the same way The Evil Dead is gnarly. It’s purposely over the top and ridiculous in a very 90’s tongue in cheek way. There is no edginess for the sake of being edgy. There is no underlying gender subtext. The book is written like a bloodier version of He Man. It’s hilariously over the top on purpose.
So I am VERY excited to see Isyander dissect it because I think he’ll pick up how it was written and do it justice. Also, the daemonculaba is one chapter of the book. That’s it. You can skip it and miss very little.
People should check their sources. And read the book. It’s actually one of my favorites

My own head cannon is that the Lamenters will be the ones to maybe find Rogal Dorn on some backwater planet after losing a battle. The survivors and dorn make it back to the Imperiun and dorn’s teachings make them see the grim logic behind things and with Dorn leading them (he would 100% rebuild his legion imo with his successor chapters + lamenters) he would do something cool, idk maybe get revenge on the iron cage
