Easily my favourite Legion, Primarch, and a lot of may favourite characters.
I particularly like their stoicism and refusal to yield. No step back. No surrender.

On the subject of successor chapters the founded chapters can in whole or part take on the culture of the recruitment world/s that they are given, but also could take on other chapters traits through integration.
It is rumoured that the Ultramarines rapid growth is due in part because they took in the survivors of the 2nd and/or 11th legions, in the same way it's not unlikely that loyalist shattered legions formed during the HH might have stayed together after the breaking of the legions.
A shattered legion force consisting of Imperial Fists and Loyal Word Bearers could have formed, they then learn each others culture and battlefield tactics while fighting alongside each other until regrouping with the loyalist forces, the Word Bearers in such a formation may have been given a home with the IF and stayed together to become a 2nd founding chapter, this would give them the IF and WB traits, being allocated to a world with a strong Imperial Cult would further push them towards worship of the Emperor.
Just as there were a bunch of loyalist legion marines who declared for Horus, there were marines from traitor legions who remained loyal, these could have been formed into 2nd founding chapters with possibly names denoting legacy from a loyal Primarch to disguise their heritage, the founding members may have taken vows regarding their heritage and as the founding members died out the newer generations would have no idea that the genetic legacy they claim is untrue, only the culture in part or whole would remain.
I’ll be honest, I’m a simp for the Ultramarines and the contest between the Smurfs and the Fists is *not* close for me. I respect the hell out of the Fists, and they look absolutely baller in 30k with those big-ass shields, but they’re just not quite my thing.
That said, the named characters I know of within the Fists are tied with their Ultramarine cousins in my book. Alexus Pollux and Sigismund are fucking awesome.
And while Bobby G will always be my favorite primarch, Dorn is an incredibly close second. And because TTS was my introduction to him, anytime he’s represented without mutton chops and a mustache just looks wrong to me. And SuperAnchors is the only canon voice I can accept, sorry Toby Longworth.
Kind of like the IF, kind of don't. I like the character of the legion and chapter, but some of the writing kind of takes it to Matt Ward levels.
Like Phall should have just been a slam dunk for the Iron Warriors, not even close. They had surprise, rhey had Perturabo and the beginning of the battle had a comoletely different IF commander that was killed inmediately. Should have just written it as an L and not just make the Imperial Fists brain dead levels of autistic by having them basically just decide to leave when they were going to kill Perturabo. Like they were the lynch pin of Terra you don't have to find reasons to hype them up, win some, lose some.

The whole Son's of the Phoenix being Word Bearers thing doesn't make sense to me. All of the religious stuff is inline with the Black Templars beliefs and behaviors. Sigismund was one of the very first members of the Imperial Cult and started a chapter of Emperor worshipers, as well as the Black Templars having close relationship with the ecclesiarchy
