The thing with ps1 is that as it doesnt have a fan, it doesnt have airflow getting the dust inside so they are generally pretty clean on the inside, unless its an n64 from dk oldies. The first console with a fan i think it was the dreamcast and after that console every single home console need fans to cool down, the handhelds only the switch needs a fan, all the previous ones didnt need one.
The ONLY benefit a PS1 console would get from flipping it over was because the first-built assemblies (1xxx) from 1995 had the CD lens in a position near the power supply inside, so the console would heat up REALLY fast. After about an hour of play the CD would start skipping and staggering FMV from games and interfering with play. The way at the time to fix this were to buy a fan and stick it under the console and blow air directly into the bottom vents, or just flip it over. This changed after the first redesign (5xxx and 7xxx consoles). The lens was also notorious for retaining smudges and fingerprints on the glass, making it darn-near impossible to read any discs like games, music CDs, etc. The second common problem was the spindle assembly was fragile and prone to breaking off ONLY if the owner would try and pull the disc out while it was still spinning, commonly referred to as "disc swapping". People did this to try and play other region PS1 games and pirated copies because of how the copy protection was read form the "wobble track" on the disc. After the drive would stop spinning from that track, the owner would reach in quickly, pull the disc of the still spinning spindle, then slam the other disc in. To get this to work, a paper clip or spring tool was inserted into the rear button inside the door tray to make the system think that the door was completely closed, thereby allowing access to the disc itself. And after repeated stress on the spindle mechanism, it would get knocked out of alignment, the rubber O-ring would snap, or the spindle would just snap completely off. Hope this helps.
the good news is from what I can see it's a scph 7501 they do have more cost cutting measures in them compared to the older 5501 and 1001 (rca jack model) but they tend to be invincible and always read games in my experience
Somewhat of a similar situation to the PS1 I purchased in 2021 from Value Village. Cost me $30 CAD for the system, cables, and a controller, with the only maintenance needed being a wipe down and some IPA to the laser.
I have always called it THE playstation and the controller for it was originally the same design as the SNES controller but the president of Sony at the time was a pilot and because he found a pilots YOKE very comfortable he asked them to design the controller around that.
From what I learned, the 7501 has the third most reliable laser, 9001 2nd reliable laser, 101 best most reliable laser, and they are interchangeable you just need a ribon extension thingy
It's only a matter of time before that disc drive hits the dust completely. The PSOne (small white console) has a MUCH better disc drive, they redesigned it and doesn't typically have the same issues. I recently got a Japanese 1001 and the laser assembly was on its way out, I had a PSOne that had other issues but a perfectly working disc drive, so I put the disc drive in the Japanese console and it works fantastic now.
I have a PS1 slim. None of these methods worked. It must be a capacitor issue because I keep recieving the red screen of death error after playing previously worked PS1 games.
You should check that PGA game and see if it’s one of the rare ones with the South Park pilot on the disc (I think it was only the first 100k copies or so). Could increase the value of the game
It's still the PS1 to me or i will like write it out if I'm not lazy like playstation 1 the psx is an actual different console it's like a PS2.3 or something because it can do different things too. The psOne is like the small slim one. My favorite games on it is einhander, gt2, Tekken 3, all Spyro games, all crash games, Jersey devil, and blasto.
Alternatively (if you were able to) you could have modded the console to run with a memory card and do away with the laser and disc drive completely. (Just a thought. Not something I can do myself, though, as I don't have the ability or skills/equipment).
i would say you overpaid for it. ps1's pretty have no re-sale value unless they are modded since ps2 and ps3 consoles also play ps1 games and ps3's are super common/cheap and easier to hook up to most modern tv's. they also have wireless controller and built in memory card easier to use. you can also buy the adapter to transfer your old saves from memory card to the console if you want.
Thats Not The game.that s The laser.they dont find Something. Can be The round Thing who ist The CD its too high. The round Thing you Put The CD on. Replace IT s mostly better
It would not surprise me if someone found a ps1 for 100 bucks or so even not broken in better condition than the crap dkoldies sells.imagine how pissed Dkoldies would be, ahahaha 😆 🤣
Got a bunch of Xbox 360 Goodwill videos coming soon 👍 let’s hope I find a blades dashboard 360
I'm excited
And next find a ps3 with old dashboard
I call it a PS1 and I call the PSOne the PS1 Slim
Same

I'll call it pretty much any of the common names except for PSX, Sony released a console called the PSX so I only refer to that as PSX
Jacob: this is stuff you can get out pretty easily with a toothbrush and some IPA.
*DKOldies has entered the chat*
Dkoldies uses magic eraser 😬
@@JacobRTWO especially on the laser

I still call it by its codename PSX, which is or was common in Europe until the PS One came out.
Yes sir, I am from Poland and every one called it PSX, even to this day. (Yes we are aware of actual PSX released in Japan)
Somewhat of a similar situation to the PS1 I purchased in 2021 from Value Village. Cost me $30 CAD for the system, cables, and a controller, with the only maintenance needed being a wipe down and some IPA to the laser.
Upside down is legit. If I remember correctly, the motor in those drives were weak. If you invert the console, it takes stress off of the motor.
I have always called it THE playstation and the controller for it was originally the same design as the SNES controller but the president of Sony at the time was a pilot and because he found a pilots YOKE very comfortable he asked them to design the controller around that.
Great video thanks☺️

OMG A PSX WITH A PARALLEL COVER!

I'll always call that the "Playstation" the PS1 was the smaller update that came out later.
The smaller one even has the "psone" logo on the console itself since it came out after the ps2
I have a PS1 slim. None of these methods worked. It must be a capacitor issue because I keep recieving the red screen of death error after playing previously worked PS1 games.
Waw that console looks cleaner than a refurbish premium 300 bucks dk oldies psx
i still have my first ever console, which was a psOne... not this one but the newer slim one... i think it still works from last time i tested it
I still call it a Sony to this day because at that time when it was released there was no other console released by them.
Awesome video hope to see more of these types of videos from you
The original I call PS1, the PSone I call PS1 Slim
DKOldies would just wrap that bad boy up and resell it as refurbished
Bro that disk sounded like someone slurping their drink lol, or atleast the first time it did
There is nothing inside too Clean😂😂😂😂😂😂
Do the ps1 controllers with no joysticks work the same as the DualShock?
It's named the DualShock because of the dual joysticks (and I think the Shock bit was added because it was the mid 1990s).
It’s a PlayStation for those of us that had it when there was no PS2 yet. ;)
You should check that PGA game and see if it’s one of the rare ones with the South Park pilot on the disc (I think it was only the first 100k copies or so). Could increase the value of the game
That was Tiger Woods PGA 99 not this game. PGA 98 is literally worthless.
Badwill
TRUE
That disk drive sounds like someone after taco bell
😳
It has dirt in the cracks, that just made me laugh
Playstation one are really notorious. For having bad lasers? There's similar to the xbox original.
It's still the PS1 to me or i will like write it out if I'm not lazy like playstation 1 the psx is an actual different console it's like a PS2.3 or something because it can do different things too. A PSX is a DVR with a built in PS2
Alternatively (if you were able to) you could have modded the console to run with a memory card and do away with the laser and disc drive completely. (Just a thought. Not something I can do myself, though, as I don't have the ability or skills/equipment).
Oh wow you finally upload on this channel again
PSX as an abbreviation and irl I say PlayStation One
And it's still better than a DKOldies console kekw.
PSX....a ps1 is a psone. PSX I believe is another name for the dev kit? Either way, back then everyone said PSX. Its PSX. Fight me.
In Australia me an my mates just called it the ‘sony’

I call it PlayStation but over time ps1
You need a new ps1 leaser
i would say you overpaid for it. ps1's pretty have no re-sale value unless they are modded since ps2 and ps3 consoles also play ps1 games and ps3's are super common/cheap and easier to hook up to most modern tv's. they also have wireless controller and built in memory card easier to use. you can also buy the adapter to transfer your old saves from memory card to the console if you want.
It’s just called the Sony PlayStation
You can fix PS1 and PS2 by yourself with right skills and basic tools but not ps3 , 4 or 5 .
Thats Not The game.that s The laser.they dont find Something.
Can be The round Thing who ist The CD its too high.
The round Thing you Put The CD on.

Tiger woods is not in the cover of PGA 98 because he started in 97 the game came out in 97 he wasn't as famous.
I looks better than DK oldies and it does work! DK "refurbished" consoles often dont 😂 and its was cheaper!
